  1. Wormeaten, Thank you. I seem to be reading a lot of how the DSC engine needs changes. I am hoping the 7800x3d will make a difference in DCS world. We'll have to see. If DSC adds more features but doesn't fix the engine I think that may become a problem and not such great marketing. There is a youtube vid out there with someone with a new 4090 were it looks like it is handling things very well.... . I will put on my Halloween Dr. costume and act like I have a lot of patients :) Thanks again
  2. Strong05 RE the current 7900xt , I am only hearing poor results with it in VR. If they can't get the drivers working better then its a waste, and it is definitely overpriced for the amount of increased performance dollar for dollar. I understand there has been an increase in manufacturing cost, but sheer greed is hitting Nvidia and AMD. If I find I love DCS and can't live without it then I might go ahead and buy a 4090. Some of the reviews I have seen make it look enticing, but I am just not happy with the manufacturers right now. Their attitude seems to be FU sit down and shut up lol And yeah, the prices are still way to high for these cards, but it looks like that may be the norm.
  3. DishDoggie, No, you read it correctly. I jactually bought the 6800xt but I still have a day or two to take it back. The box is still actually unopened. If the play-ability would have been good enough , i was thinking on keeping it, but I might as well save the cost of this card and get something with better performance in VR and if DLSS is "coming down the road", that is just one more thing to go for Nvidia. Maybe I will pick up a used 3090 for just a few more hundred than what the 6800xt cost me and or wait until summer for bigger cost drops (good luck with the manufacturers now cutting out the scalpers to make the money themselves lol. Or maybe even just pick up an old crappy card so the machine has a gpu and wait till summer. I haven't even started playing DCS yet so I don't really know how much I am handicapping myself with the card choice. I'd use the card I have in my other machine, except it is an older amd chip with no onboard graphics, and I still need that machine for business.
  4. Hi, Yes the more I am reading the more Nvidia seems to have over AMD in 4K and VR. I have a couple of days left to return this 6800xt. You probably have already set your settings to what TED in here has suggested with setting lower frame limits. and Doggie seems to be getting some decent numbers. I was already thinking of upping to a 6900 or even a 6950xt. I am also looking at used 3080's 3080ti's and even 3090's since they are under or around the same prince as 6900/6950's I don't think the new lower end 7000's series will do any better than the 7900's or the 6900's or even the 3080ti in VR . I've been sitting on this new build now since Nov. of last year gathering dust with no GPU lol. I think6900 series GPU prices will drop a little more soon, and I can take another look and also keep my on some of the used Nvidias. Luckily/Unluckily I am too busy right now to be playing as it is, but my current job is coming to an end and I will go working part time and become semi- retarded I upgraded to the AM5 platform knowing I will probably upgrade from the 7600x to the 7800x3d a little while after it comes out. Do you play multipler on DCS or solo with your 6800xt frame rates?
  5. Thank you DishDoggie, I am planning on under clocking both my cpu and my Card. It reduces both the heat problems and allows for a little more performance at the same time. the 7900x has a tendency to run a little hot. Looks like you got a decent increase with your new settings. Are you running SAM or does that even help in VR ? How much does your Custom Render Scale of 50% reduce your images? Do people with 3080's have this much trouble getting good frame rates. Are you getting results comparable to what a 3080 would get. FE
  6. Thank you Strong. Have you under clocked your 6800xt? Getting a better experience with a 1080ti is worrisome. With DLSS "coming " to DCS that would be a game changer since that the increase will only benefit Nvidia cards and further diminishes AMD (does FSR work in here at all.) I doubt Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) is going to be a player anytime soon so that won't help. I was thinking about picking up a 7900 xt but it's over priced for the value, and I just refuse to pay soooo much for the 4080 and the 7900xtx on principle alone.
  7. Hi all, I am a little lost here and I would appreciate a little info. I just purchased a new 6800xt thinking it would work great in DCS since the digital combat simulator website states that the recommended gpu for DCS in VR for 2.8 is a “Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 64 or better “ But After reading many of the posts on here I am not so sure. From reading posts on this forum, it seems there are many add ons or other apps to help bring up the FPS but most comments seem to say , they work well for Nvidia but not so well with AMD I have only really seen two Members on here who say they have AMD in VR running great. One of which is Ted who is still active in the forum but I see has now shifted from a 6900xt to the 4080. Maybe there are more players using AMD with good results but they just aren't posting? I also am seeing other members who are saying since the new 2.8 their VR frame rate has become unacceptable for them to the point of them discontinuing play. So Is there anyone on here in VR running off a Rx 6800xt with acceptable performance not on steam? Is it any better on Steam? Are there actually other helpful apps to bring AMD performance up to acceptable levels. Thanks in advance FE Current sytem Ryzen 7600x 32GB dddr5 XFX RX 6800XT MERC 319 No VR headset yet until GPU issues are resolved.
