  1. That makes sense, I have no mods installed. But the deck is not dark, so I guess it’s a glitch due to the way they did the weather. At least I know what it is now. I have never flown a night mission, off the carrier anyway. I’ve never seen it and that signal doesn’t show in any of the manuals. Ok so I powered through and saluted and off I went. The strange thing about this mission was they told me I was clear to take off at cat 3 I taxied to cat 3 and the plane director (yellow shirt standing in the middle of the rail) did nothing, everything I tried, nothing. I taxied to all 3 other cats and they all started directing me up to the shuttle. So odd. So with that going on and the strange signal, I was confused. I reset it 5 times before I got off the deck. Thanks for the help.
  2. I thought the signals to the pilot were up high, over head. Seems strange for them to do a signal waist high due to poor weather. Like I said I searched everywhere for that signal. I found the aircraft carrier operating procedures manual, a nice document, shows all the signals I’ve seen on the carrier, but not that one. Funny huh?
  3. No that’s the shooter, already on the shuttle and passed on to the shooter. It’s a campaign, not night time, but poor visibility weather, fog mostly..
  4. IMG_3834.mov Can someone tell me what this signal means? I’ve never seen that one. I got the super carrier manual and they do not show that sign. I assumed it meant to wash out the controls, but he doesn’t stop that and signal run up.
  5. Just wanted to update anyone that may encounter this same issue with their ThrustMaster Warthog throttle. I adjusted my axis tune as shown in my previous post, the throttle seems to be much better than the standard flat axis. I completed my first campaign mission that required refueling Yes I finally have hope. It’s a small victory but I’ll take it. Those that struggle a bit will know that it keeps you interested when you finally do something perfect, something that you have been failing at for a while. So check it out and see if this helps you. Keep an eye on your six!
  6. I asked about a throttle curve, here in this topic. The consensus was to practice more, ok that sounded like a generic answer but we all know it takes a lot of practice to become better in anything you do. I thought I should come back and leave an update for others that may read this thread. I ran across a refueling video on YouTube, here is the link, after his refueling the guy talks about axis setting. He specifically mentioned the ThrustMaster warthog throttle, said if you want to save yourself lots of frustrations, use these curves. Take a look for yourself. I’m going to give them a try and see if it helps. I didn’t think it was possible or advisable to use curves on the throttle, but this guy seemed knowledgeable. Anyway I will try and update my experience. Hope this helps, and I hope others find this useful. Thanks all!
  7. It’s hard enough to get the probe in line with the basket, and I should add another factor?? Thanks but no. I’ve been practicing more. Got it hooked and taking fuel, lasted a bit longer but still some issues with power. I will take the advice of practice, practice, practice. Thanks all! This is answered..
  8. I thought I was doing this, it just seemed like small correction were too big. It’s hard to pull back 50% when you’re moving the throttle so slightly. But I understand what you’re saying. I’ll try harder. I’m still just happy I got hooked up, it shows improvement, I’ve been working on refueling for a while now. Even watched some real life videos. When I was in the Navy I didn’t have enough respect for the skill level of the officers. The guys are good.
  9. I can see adjusting axis would not help. I was just wondering if there was another way to reduce sensitivity in the throttle response.
  10. Hi all, I am learning the F/A-18C I got my first air refueling “your taking on fuel”. Now if I can just hold this thing. It seems the throttle is sensitive. I looked in axis tuning but I don’t believe I can adjust from this. Is there some other way to adjust sensitivity on the throttle? Thanks. not easy refueling in the air!
  11. Engel, thanks I will think about it. I had some games I played on steam when I found DCS. That’s how I got into this flight sim. I’m old school, played a lot of the old flight sims Advanced tactical Fighters, like that, stuff that was more a game. This DCS is killer, more like the real thing. I come from a Navy background, made 2 cruises on Carriers so the Carrier app, I had to have it. The problem was my hardware just wouldn’t keep up. Just bought a new system, arriving tomorrow. This is first on the list, then I’ll look at VR. Thanks for the advice, I’ll consider before jumping into it.
  12. What’s the advantage of keeping it with steam? I want the game to run smoothly, the reason I stopped playing was problems with running the game. Most due to my computer. I just want to do it right, everything to run at the best I can get. From what I have read here, it seems like that is without steam. No insult to steam.
  13. I was playing DCS a few years ago, but my computer wasn’t up to the task. After 2 + years I finally got a new computer and I would like to get back into this great sim. First problem, I owned a few mods, F18, F14 and A10 along with a few maps. But I bought them I Steam. I know what you’re saying, mistake. Can I convert those to regular PC or am I stuck buying it again? Would converting be a pain and not worth the hassle. Thanks for your help!
