  1. @automag928 Yep, that's Helios on the bottom with DCS configured to display the MFCD output. I think you're right about the TIR, and with this setup it's possible to keep one eye on the instruments while scanning the horizon outside. I'm working on setting up my touchscreen laptop off to the side with pages of Helios screens for the radios, CDU and others. The software is a little pricey but it's like LEAVU2 and Touchbuddy all in one, with a lot more gauges.

Total: $150 I did spend a little extra on some monitor arms, so second monitor can swing down below the main screen for simming, or to the side for work. Now you have a second monitor for keeping a browser open while you work, watching training videos, Skype while gaming, editing .lua files, etc. ;) Personally I don't like touchscreens when you have split seconds to make your input. Too easy to hit the wrong button. Buttons are much more definite. Also the small 7-8" screens are almost $100 each (if not more!) by the time you ship them so you're actually spending more for a smaller MFD image. Plus this way you have room for a whole instrument panel, map, whatever. Even with TIR it saves so much time looking down. I think this is the perfect setup for someone who wants a simple, cheap-ish multi-use homepit without getting into hacking real gauges. Would never go back.
  3. Ok, got on beta forums and sorted it out! In summary, the solution was to set up the monitors in Windows settings so that they are stacked one on top of the other, and setting the lua files so that the total resolution was the width of the largest monitor, and the height of monitor 1 + monitor 2. I had tried this previously but never got it to work so I had configured them to span horizontally...boo... For some reason spanning vertically now works (think I had missed the ["resolution"] line to set the total res in addition to the width and height lines) , did some quick math to figure out the positions of the MFCDs, and everything worked happily the first time. This sim just gets better and better! :pilotfly: Sorry for my ignorance!

  5. Currently I have my display settings to LMFCD+Camera+RMFCD with the MFCDs appearing on a second monitor (overlaid with a set of Cougar MFDs). This all works very nicely, but during training, the subtitles appear across the two monitors, with about the left 10% appearing on the main camera view, and the rest stretched across the second monitor. This is very difficult to read, with the MFCD graphics underneath the white type and the Cougar frames obscuring much of the text, especially on training missions that are missing voiceover. Will the final release have any option to control the size/position of the subtitles, or is there any workaround for this? On the upside, I am really enjoying the voice work on the training missions that have it. The gentleman who does the training narration is very clear and easy to understand in this sim than the ones on Lockon/FC2. Good job! Looking forward to more. :thumbup: Thanks! Rob
  6. BTW, you don't need the map or measure tool to get the runway heading. You can derive the heading of the runway by adding a zero to the runway number. I.e. runway 13 would mean you dial in a heading of '130' on your HSI. There are a few exceptions but most of the time you'll find that the runway heading is at least roughly the same as the runway number, and is usually within 5-10 degrees.
