  1. I figured it out.. I think. So the first try I spent a lot of time sitting there reading the briefing and getting the plane set up and whatever. I saw the press space when ready and I guess I expected the war to wait for me. Nope, we were going to be late for the invasion. I guess flight lead was trying to catch up. We didn't see another aircraft until we crossed the channel. Second try though, I was ready and just started up and took off. We almost immediately formed up with the rest of the squadron and am currently cruising across the channel with everything in the green. As far as the engine dying, we were above 300mph even climbing. I didn't take hits and the report at the end said engine failure. I admittedly wasn't monitoring temps so not sure there. Problem solved regardless. Thanks for responding, the polish on this campaign so far is really nice! Looking forward to it.
  2. I just took a stab at the first mission and after the whole flight across the channel with the power being between max cont. and military, at times needing WEP to even barely rope the leader in, my engine quit. Hell, I don't blame it. I definitely exceeded the rated duration for mil power and was close if not over on WEP as well. And I doubt the ratings are separate from each other anyways . I was trimmed properly as far as I know, obsessing over that damn ball trying to get a few extra mph. I even checked third person to make sure my gear wasn't down at one point. Lots of campaigns I've played are like this, but never this bad, and since it seems like nobody else is having a problem then I must be doing something wrong? Anyone got tips?
  3. Thanks for the reply. Other than this small issue (which seems like it's got nothing to do with the campaign anyways), this is one of the best DCS campaigns I've played both in terms of the missions actually working and good mission design. It seems like it might even come out on top of Paradise Lost. I really enjoy the cutscene intros and the story has been fantastic. Great job with this one!
  4. I'm on mission 5 and these guys haven't showed up in the last couple missions. I'm pretty sure they worked fine on mission 2 with the initial ferry mission to the ship. I've tried saluting and requesting launch and nothing happens. I thought it was a problem with an update but it works fine in normal missions and I even tried repairing/cleaning up my dcs install.
  5. I started this campaign with maybe 2 hours total in the Huey. The first mission I spent probably 10 hours on and at least 20 tries (kept getting into VRS trying to land heavy) but finally got it. After this it was all downhill. I was getting more comfortable with the aircraft and it felt like I was progressing as a pilot at the same rate as the character progressed as a pilot which was a really cool experience. I went from being constantly lost at the beginning to being able to fly between most common points without even looking at the compass (which came in handy after being shot to hell on multiple occasions). If you're worried about starting this campaign because you're bad at the Huey, do it anyways. Getting better at flying over the course of the campaign really adds a lot to it. The mission design was fantastic. It strikes the perfect balance between realistic and action-packed. Not too over the top (aside from one mission but I'll let you figure that out) but still fun. Resistance from the enemy is a great balance too. You get shot at plenty enough to be exciting but not enough to get killed over and over again. I limped home with no radios, nav equipment, or even basic gauges like the airspeed and heading indicators on more than one occasion but never got shot down. The missions were fun but not super complicated. A lot of the briefings were just a sentence or two. You load the mission without even knowing what you're getting into as I imagine was the case a lot of the time in Vietnam. The story was great, the end cutscene even got me choked up a little. One of the best parts about this campaign was everything worked. I didn't have to constantly worry about activating triggers and doing things the intended way. Quite a few times I flew way off course or lost my flight lead or whatever and never broke a mission. I had one problem with a trigger but out of 3 tries it only happened once. It's the most stable dcs campaign I've played by a long shot. A lot of the others aren't even playable. This is definitely my favorite flight sim experience and one of my favorite gaming experiences in general. If you're thinking about it, definitely buy it. As of 5 days ago, there are next to no bugs. Great job with this one Reflected. Now you just need to make an A10 or F18 campaign!
  6. I just want to add that I experienced this same issue. It took me 3 tries to finish the mission. The first run I clipped a tree after dropping the troops off and crashed. The second try, I dropped the troops and then nothing happened. The radio calls of taking fire never came in and the rest of the group kind of just hovered around clumsily 10 feet up like Keszi said. I'm actually surprised they didn't hit each other. Looked like 3 guys that never flew a helicopter before. I orbited for about 10 minutes, tried landing again to maybe hit the trigger, and then restarted the mission. The third time it worked fine. So 2 out of 3 times the mission progressed properly. Not sure what was different about the second try.
  7. Thanks for that, I'll make sure to check the track.
  8. +1 Sorry for the horrific photoshop job but assuming that's a proper scale drawing, you'd need about 25 degrees of pitch to get the rotor on the ground without interfering with the tail boom. You were nowhere near that. I don't even worry about tail strikes because I always assumed the tail rotor was safe. One more thing on the list of issues with the Huey.
  9. This Tacview screenshot is from a Paradise Lost mission. The miniguns are being operated by the left seat AI spraying into a group of infantry. He spent 14 seconds dumping the miniguns on this guy. It looked like good accurate fire. He hit Charlie-22, a rice farmer with an AK, ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY THREE TIMES before he finally died. One rocket would've wiped out that whole group. After that run I started orbiting and the door gunner wiped the floor with the rest of them with 1% of the ammo. Either Tacview is recording hits wrong or the guns are seriously broken. Surely even one or two hits should register a kill. This isn't the only time this has happened either. The guns are completely ineffective against infantry.
