ATC Airfield bearings incorrect.

That adds a new wrinkle to the problem of getting back to base in bad weather!! Thanks! -
ATC Airfield bearings incorrect.
Smokin1469 replied to Smokin1469's topic in P-47D Wolfpack Campaign
I guess I should have made it clear that I'm asking to see if anyone else is experiencing the problem and if anyone knows of a fix. Thanks. -
Just bought the P-47 and Reflected's wonderful campaign "Wolfpack". I've only flown missions 1 and 2 but on both missions, when I requested navigation assistance, the ATC bearings were way off. Mission 2 for example, I stumbled on the airfield but the ATC bearings would have put me way south of the field. I know it's not something Reflected can manipulate, just didn't know where else to post. Thanks.

Automatic manifold pressure regulator question.
Smokin1469 replied to grafspee's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Recently came back to the Mustang after some time away and stumbled on this thread. I only have one data point, but I did get to fly a Mustang once and the AMPR didn't work either. That, or it wasn't installed in the particular Mustang I flew. We did a climb at 46" and 2700 RPM from sea level up to 18,000 feet MSL and I had to continuously move the throttle up to maintain MP. I was too fired up after the flight to ask about it, even though I noticed it! So, for what it's worth, DCS has correctly modeled the engine behavior of that one specific TF-51D with a -7 engine, named Crazy Horse! -
Thanks for posting Bowie. I always knew there was something wonky about the DCS Mustang rudder response but didn't know how to "fix" it until I saw your post. I decided to take a little more incremental approach than you did. I kept everything at the default settings, set my dead zone, then slid the curvature slider over to 33%. I don't have any justification for why 33 other than TLAR (That Looks About Right)! She flies much better now and better mirrors what I remember when I bought a real Mustang flight years ago. I'll keep tinkering but am very satisfied so far. Thanks!

Thank you all. And thanks for the link. I forgot to search before I started typing!!

Anybody installed 25H2 after running 24H2? My computer wants me to "upgrade" but I'd like to see if anyone is having issues.
-
For whatever reason it stopped coming on after a while. Can't explain it, I haven't changed anything. I just always use the default autostart option with no changes other than setting up comm, weapons, etc. I just did an auto start in the Gulf Guardians campaign and no DC BUS caution light.

Unless the Fulcrum pilot makes a major mistake, your chances of beating a Fulcrum in a visual fight (while flying an F-4) are almost nil. Fulcrum has significant advantages in turn rate and radius, thrust to weight, and weapons. I know a pilot who's flown both the Fulcrum and Viper and he says the Fulcrum is very hard to beat in a visual fight, even against the F-16.

Gulf Guardian Part I - Released July 1, 2025
Smokin1469 replied to Sedlo's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Sedlo! I just flew mission 3 and was blown away. I didn't think the missions could get better but this one knocked it out of the park. Even the long taxis out and back were entertaining. Thanks again for sharing your hard work. -

@Sedlo, just finished mission 2. Outstanding! Thank you so much for sharing your hard work. -
I'll try to attach a trk file. In the meantime, during the auto start sequence, the DC BUS caution light comes on when the right engine reaches idle and the generator comes online. It stays on through left engine start and does not go out when the auto start sequence is complete. Cycling the right and left generators simultaneously per the -1 checklist for DC BUS caution light extinguishes the light.
-
I've noticed the last couple times I've flown the DC BUS caution light asserts about the time the right engine reaches idle on start. It persists throughout the flight with no apparent adverse effects. I always use the auto start feature. Is this a bug or is there something in the auto start sequence that's causing it?

Thank you! Yes, I'm using the Meta Link cable.

I'm computer illiterate so not sure what's relevant or not so here goes: i7-12700KF, 3610 MHz processor, 32 GB RAM NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti

Thanks all. I was just wondering at what point do I stop chasing my tail looking for the perfect settings. Even with what I've got DCS is amazing and the level of detail and immersion just blows me away every time. It's an incredible sim.

What level of performance should I expect using my Quest 2? Lines are jagged, everything shimmers, and generally looks cartoon-ish. I can't positively ID another aircraft outside of half a mile or so. I've tried most of the settings mentioned here with no luck. All the screenshots and videos I see are amazing and very realistic looking. Just wondering what is the art of the possible with VR. Is the only answer a new headset? I've tried all of the preset settings from Low to High and VR with not much changing that I can tell.

Getting ready to fly mission 2 and want to know, do I have to direct the wingman to attack the target using the comm menu, or are they set up somehow to engage the target on their own? Thanks!!

Downloaded Bitsum, turned off core parking, and everything seems to be working fine so far!!
-
Opened up the most recent log and it starts with a warning that I have parked logical cores. I assume that points to the problem? I see some have turned to Bitsum to fix. Is that the best one to use?

So, my game's not crashing and I'm not getting any messages, I just get lots of pauses in the game with the spinning hourglass in the corner, like it's buffering or something. Only play single player so I don't think it's a WIFI issue. RAM problem maybe? I've got 32 GB of RAM. Thoughts?

Mission 11 Startup bug?

Thanks! -
Well, I like to shy away from blanket statements like "The Phantom rolls with rudder at high AoA". Keep in mind that we're dealing with three distinctly different birds here. DISCLAIMER: I have no significant time in the Phantom IRL. I just put a lot of faith in the flight manual when that is the case. First is the hard wing Phantom, which we simulate in Reflected's excellent campaign "MiG Killers". According to the F-4 C/D flight manual, you "must use rudder to produce roll" at elevated AoA. Otherwise you're likely to depart controlled flight. Second is the slatted E, which is the "normal" Phantom we fly in DCS. Flight manual is very clear, stating several times that the optimum roll performance at high AoA is obtained with "a combination of aileron and rudder in the direction of turn". It also states that adverse yaw, a prime contributor to departing controlled flight in the hard wing Phantom, is "negligible". Third is the DCS Phantom. To what level of fidelity did Heatblur model the high AoA and departure characteristics of the Phantom? Does it really fly like a hard wing when you lock out the slats? The only way to find out is to experiment for yourself at high AoA with slats in normal, and again with slats locked out. I think Heatblur did a wonderful job with their flight model. It's just my opinion but they probably have the best flight model outside of the "official" sim. Bottom line ( for me anyway) is that for max immersion (and maybe fun) fly the DCS Phantom the way you would the real one: rudder only at high AoA in the hard wing, and combination of aileron and rudder in the slatted E.

BNBB Campaign mission 2 start bug
Smokin1469 replied to gerul's topic in P-51D: The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
I just played the mission. You're supposed to follow White flight. As soon as White flight taxis the jeep moves out of the way. Good luck!
