Is it possible to turn on enemy units in the F10 map?

Hello. Noob here. Sorry if this is has been covered but I just can't find the info I need. What do the headings or bearings mean and how do you translate them into the correct direction on the hud. (Of any aircraft). For instance. I ask ATC for help with my heading to the runway and they answer 7 9. What number is this on the hud? I find the numbers given very confusing. Thanks for any help.
