  1. Okay, thanks fellas. The ER doesn't seem to be too much trouble, even with the speed advantage - it's the ET that scares me!
  2. I finally got around to purchasing FC3 after ED removed the LOMAC installation requirement, and I've been screwing around with the different BVR weapons available to the F-15 and Su-27. In game, flying at 25000 feet (and launching at similar speeds of around 600 knots), the R-27ER appears to get up to Mach 3.8, while the AIM-7 only reaches Mach 2.5, giving the Russian fighters a huge advantage. Wikipedia, however, suggests that the AIM-7C and onward reach Mach 4. Why the discrepancy? Is the AIM-7 really that much slower than the Russian equivalent - and, if so, how did the military expect to win a confrontation during the cold war with them?
  3. The manual says under "In-flight Single Engine Failure" to close fuel valves to an engine that fails in-flight, presumably to prevent a fire. However, when I do this (say, after getting damaged by enemy fire), I feel like I lose power, and it becomes impossible to maintain level flight. If I don't cut the fuel, the RPM of the damaged engine holds at around 70% of normal RPM, and I can maintain speed and altitude. What keeps the engine running at a lower RPM after damage? Is this helping to keep me airborne, or should I cut the fuel anyway?
  4. I've been trying to learn how to work the ABRIS system, but I haven't found anything in the manual on this weird mosaic of rapidly changing colours. Does anyone know what its function is? I arrived at it from the menu by going to the GNSS page, and then to the SYST page. Attached to this post is a screenshot of it.
