Hard to argue, except the date keeps getting pushed back.Let's create a hypothetical scenario where stores can only make money on carrying a product (which isn't true, but for argument), will they still carry anything? No. They want a high throughput between deliveries and sales, because the faster you can move units, the faster you make money. (Velocity of money, or ROI term. My terminology might be off though since I'm translating it as best I can.) Vendors have limited infrastructure to move units, and limited shelf-space to offer wares to their customers. This means that whenever something is "suspect" from a business perspective (for example through being a niche product), they'll be extremely careful about buying in, because the infrastructure and shelf-space could be used pushing a high-volume mainstream product. In economic terms, it's called "opportunity cost" - even if you don't lose money on the transaction itself, if you could have made more money on another transaction using the same resources, that's an "opportunity cost". This can be shelf space, infrastructure etcetera.
So yeah, unfortunately the fact is that it is extremely hard to "push" simulators through brick-and-mortar stores, because they can get a much quicker ROI through console shooters.
Or at least - they think they can. Up to all of us to prove them wrong. If you enter a store that doesn't carry it, please let them know how unhappy you are about that decision. That's the kind of stuff that can make things go faster in future. :)
Some people these days (myself being a prime example) just can't afford games like the old days. I am pretty much only able to buy 1 or 2 games a year. I'm going to have to decide.. A-10 OR Battlefield 3, but not both. Which one hits the shelves 1st?
A or B?

Waiting on a boxed version (IMO) only puts me behind in learning the game. If however, I can't run the game, or I want to sell it... there won't be any question as to whether or not it is licensed copy or illegally downloaded. By that I mean, I would never 'buy' a DVD that was burned by a private seller, regardless of them downloading it from the designers server or not.I am reallly glad I can download the software. I hate having cupboards full of dusty old boxes.
Now we are talking! :thumbup:I might buy a manual when they come out though. Id like some sort of pilots pack actually; laminated map, 9 line cards, checklist booklet, whatever the pilot walks out with. Piddle pack.... -
Well, I happen to like the physical media (and the box it comes in). Maybe I'm a collector, so..please don't tell me what I should like. I still have my original US Navy Fighters media.. does that make me a fundamentalist?
Now, get back to work and get the DVD box out... thank you very much! :music_whistling:

Thanks for the help.. I was thinking of getting one to replace my keyboard and Nostromo during game use.

I can't afford a high-cost flight stick, so I am looking to see if the G13 is something that might help out with keystrokes in the game. I already own a Nostromo N50, which helps quite a bit, but I need more input possibilities.
Thanks

Thanks Viper! I did a couple of 'test runs' in the campaign to verify that the site was still active even after taking out the 'snow drift' radar, and yes...those BUK's are very active. I did notice that they wouldn't fire on me as quick (maybe due to the radar not alive to give out proper azimuth and elevations in close), but once I got about a mile away they fire at will. The worse part is, you get no radar warning that you are being tracked because the 'snow drift' is out.Not necessarily - Depends on SAM site.TELAR = Transporter Erector Launcher And Radar
Allows every launch vehicle to be autonomous as it has it's own Fire-Control Radar.

I find this to be a major issue with my moving through the campaign too. For instance, on one of the A10 missions, it says to go for the center 80's. I find them on the ground, but before I do that, my auto-targeting locks onto the sam quad located about half a world away. For some reason, I am unable to release my target lock.. AHHH! After taking those out with guns, the next auto-target locks onto the fuel truck, then the truck, then ANOTHER sam site, further away.
After I take those out, I go back to my original target (the 80's) and take them out (with my 65's). Now, I go back to the base, land ok.. and guess what, my wingman didn't make it. I watched the replay from behind my winger and guess what he did.. he skidded across the runway and hit a building.. and yes, he blew himself up.
I have found out, its better to tell my wingman to run trail formation, because otherwise, all he does is get himself in trouble.
Real quick question regarding sam sites... If I take the radar out (usually in the middle of the site), does that not render the sam site inoperative?
