  1. I may be wrong, but I think these are airfields thrown together for the conflict, similar to what our SeaBees did in WW2. Temporary, modular, and quickly deployed. And then like almost everything else in the former Soviet Union, abandoned, neglected and forgotten.
  2. I use a little speedbrake always during refueling to make deceleration a little quicker. I had a tendency to run up too fast on the tanker. I'd say my first 20 refueling attempts ended with a collision, or a blue-on-blue strafing run.
  3. I've been using A-10 for a while now, and finally decided to join since I feel like I finally have some tips to offer. Anyway, the thing that has worked the best for me is (1) setting gain correctly (Sometimes I test in on civilian traffic on the roads) and (2) Switch between WHOT, BHOT and CCD quickly, as each one is useful in different circumstances at different times. Mapping the 3 different modes to an easy to use keyboard or joystick button helps. Just keep scanning and flipping modes. Also, if you really need help, use labels to practice.
  4. The easiest thing to do is dial in the correct heading on the course knob on the HSI, It will help you line up in the correct direction. It helps with situational awareness if you're flying in low, changing directions frequently.
