  1. We have the same CPU. I don't know if that'd be the issue. CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz Mem: 2GB Video: nVidia 8800GT OS: Win 7 32-bit Not sure if it matters, but considering we both had the same issue, and it was reoccurring, it might be something to look in to about the Steam version for ED. Or not, considering it was fixed by grabbing it off their site...
  2. Would you mind posting your system? I'm 99% certain it's just the Steam install is borked, but I'm wondering if we have anything in common that might be a factor in it.
  3. I don't get this tutorial. I set the HSI course to 130, but when I'm headed towards the runway, the HSI is not aligned at all. I head to the final approach point and get the training tip that I should decent to 2,500 between 230 and 250 knots. When I DO descend down to 2,500 and keep it between 230 and 250, I'm told I should turn towards the glidescope, and it NEVER lines up, regardless of my heading towards the runway. I then get yelled at that I'm below the glidescope and should gain altitude to line up on the glidescope. So I get up to 3,000 and climb even further, but never intercept the glide scope, so I'm never given the next tip. Eventually I just give up and put down the gear and flaps and start an approach. So far I've overshot and ballooned over the runway every time except this last time, in which I put it down hard at 170knots halfway off the runway. How I didn't lose it I don't know, but I managed to land and survive. It was at this point, due to barely intercepting the glidescope when I touched down, the tutorial continued on, and I was told to contact the tower for request for landing. I couldn't do this, due to having already landed, so at that point I was thoroughly stuck in this tutorial. What am I doing wrong?
  4. Uninstalled the Steam version. Downloaded the 1.1.0.8 version from the DCS site. Installed it, got rid of the training missions and put in the new versions of them. Works. Flawlessly. So something is VERY VERY VERY messed up with the Steam version of the game.
  5. I doesn't work in other missions. I'll check the version, but if it's correct I'll likely grab it from the DCS site anyway. As I said, the Steam version seems to be VERY problematic. Version is 1.1.0.8.
  6. Okay, tried the landing training mission again. Set a keybind for ILS Mhz up (LAlt+Up) and down (LAlt+Down) and ILS Khz up (LAlt+LCtrl+Up) and down (LAlt+LCtrl+Down) and when holding them, the knobs turn, but AGAIN, the frequency doesn't change. Holding the mouse button on the knob and moving it doesn't, and rolling the mouse wheel doesn't. I alt-tabbed out and back in, and while that made it have to reload all of the cockpit textures, it didn't fix the ILS frequency issue, OR the other issue with the (LCtrl+Up) bind (which I checked, and is still bound). I paused and unpaused a few times, which did not fix it. I then spammed it making this stop-motion simulation, which still did not fix the issue. Again, using 1.1.0.8 missions. Recorded a track by playing the mission from the editor and the track is 7MB, which is too large to host on this site. Are you able to download from this link? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2081268/OMGSOFRUSTRATING.trk
  7. Yes, I just tried out the navigation training mission and not only could I not adjust the frequency THERE either, but when I was told to move the piper down towards the bottom of the HUD and set a steerpoint (I believe) by holding "L. CTRL + Up arrow" nothing happened, holding it or tapping it, either control key. And I have NOT rebound a single key, they're all 100% default. The only control changes I have made were to edit deadzones and curves for my joystick. So in this mission as well I literally cannot change the ILS one tiny bit, despite the knob rotating, and I also can't continue on in the training because it won't let me set whatever marker it wants me to set. EDIT: Have bound ILS Mhz and Khz keys, going to try it that way. If that doesn't work, will my Steam key work with a download from the actual DCS site? Apparently the Steam version is absolutely chalk full of errors, reading the forums on both sites, most errors seem to be on the Steam version.
  8. Yes. The knob rotates, I can flip the power to it on and off. But the frequency itself physically does NOT change. It's not that it changes and fails to trigger the next step in the lesson, it simply does NOT change. At all.
  9. When I first tried out this mission I was NOT using the 1.1.0.8 missions. I went through it just fine UNTIL I got to the part where I'm supposed to the adjust the ILS frequency from 1108.10 to 1110.30. At this point, as with other posts I've read having this issue, I was unable to adjust the frequency know no matter what I did. ILS on or off, mouse wheel scrolling or clicking and dragging, the frequency would not change no matter what. So I hopped on Google and started looking, and after a short stint I was directed here to the official forums where I see thread upon thread upon thread upon thread with this EXACT same issue. All of which someone says, "Get the 1.1.0.8 training missions" and the OP replying with how that worked for them flawlessly. So I grabbed the new missions. I renamed the old folders to back them up and moved them into a completely separate directory. I then put the new missions in and tried it again. After SEVERAL tries, I STILL cannot tune the ILS frequency, no matter how I try. ILS on or off, mouse wheel scrolling or clicking and dragging, the frequency will not change no matter what. So I'm coming here INCREDIBLY frustrated and confused. I couldn't save a track because when I hit ESC and clicked Quit it just went back to the training menu, never giving me the option to save the track. I checked the track folder in the "USER/Saved Games/..." folder and there was no automatically saved "last track." So I have no idea what the hell to do at this point, but any advice would be appreciated. Technical info: Purchased from Steam, version 1.1.0.8, used the 32-bit system memory trick because it was crashing any time I tried to load any mission.
