ingame the sst dont support the x36

I just bought DCS:BS and have found a anoying problem. I dont know if im missing something or cant find the right keywords to put into search forums. I have remapped my joystick buttons to the way I want them but when in flight they are not responding the way I set them up. Same with my rotor dials. Im hesitant to just start tearing apart files that I dont know what Im doing. I have been out of the sim scene for quite a while (Falcon 4.0 and Gunship!) so Im trying to play catch up here. Also my stick is a X-36 USB if that is the problem. I doubt it cause the game responded to the directx command when i remapped the inputs.
