I was a little presumptious and got carried away and set my settings to high. system crashed once again but then I started on low and worked up to high in stages and everything now works for me.

Crash resolved I resolved my crash issue by turning the force feedback flag off. i have a saitek x52. the default was force feedback on. hope this helps
