Whoa...that would do it. -HMD -TrackIR -That thing

Eqzitara has posted a method to set different convergence settings on the fly. This is great for whn you have to zoom or use the external camera. The convergence changes instantly. It makes DCS A10C waaaaaaay more usable in 3D or when using a HMD. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/

But if you had a TrackIR glove...and patch the game to display your hand in cockpit you could toggle all of the buttons as if they were really there, with your hand. Throw the TM WartHog HOTAS out completely. Example : TrackIR + HMD + Glove...you push head forward and see dials\switches zoom. you raise your hand and finger...trackIR see it and you see it in your HMD. You could literally push your face right up to the throttle panel and put your hand on the virtual cockpit buttons.. This is the software you would need... http://sites.google.com/site/carlkenner/glovepie This is the Glove you would get.... http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Reality-P5-Gaming-Glove/dp/B00007JNFE Man this would be cheap and amazing. All that you would need is a folding lawn chair with a broomstick attached to the front. The realism would be better than the complete HOTAS system I think. We just need the devs to implement and in-cockpit 3D hand that is trackable.

I want to get a TrackIR so bad... So If I can get the Sony HMD for 600.00 and TrackIR for under 100.00 = 700.00 You wouldn't really need the complete Thrustmastmaster HOTAS (with screens and dials) would you? The Virtual cockpit would be just as real. This would be the ultimate setup. As long as you can arrange a chair with the stick and thruster you would really have the cockpit sensation. It would be chilling to look down left while in the cockpit and push the "real" Thrustmaster throttle forward. I think that would really create the most immersion. 3D Plasma is great fun but I think it's HMD time when it comes to DCS. Hope that the DCS team keeps up the same kind of development. Eventually we will need TrackIR gloves so that we can see our hands inside the cockpit. I would imagine all that you would need would be a stick and a small "T-shaped-bar" to replace the Thrustmaster HOTAS.

I use Acronis TrueImage home. You just boot from their disk and you can backup your current drive to a single file (put it on usb drive). Then after your setup your RAID0 in Bios, boot the Trueimage disk again and restore to your RAID0. It's near imposible to get your windows to boot without the RAID drivers present though...thats the point of doing a fresh install. After that first RAID0 windows install you can backup regularly and know that all RAID windows drivers are in place. Acronis is nice because it always sees your RAID's...some older image software did not see them.
-
good idea on the RAID0...You will get 2x the data rate! You will have to follow my steps to re-install windows. 1. You will have to put both drives together in RAID0 using your bios. (this erases evreything so be ready) 2. Load your windows install disk... 3. When you get the option to choose "Custom install", choose that 4. Select "Load Drivers". 5. Insert your Motherboard RAID Windows drivers (put them on USB stick prior to booting your windows install disc) 6. When drivers are loaded you will see your RAID 0 Array. 7. Select the RAID0 array 8. Format, partition ect and install

IZ3D might be going open source... http://3dvision-blog.com/7633-the-iz3d-driver-is-going-to-become-an-open-source-project/ This would be an awesome development for everyone (AMD + NVIDIA). We would be able to create game specific fixes\patches for both. I tried IZ3D and you are right it allows much more customization in the GUI than 3DVision, but I get more FPS when using 3DVision. I am still in awe at free-flying in the 3D cockpit. I have my Cockpit Zoom view tied to my controler triggers. BEST SIM EVR!:)
-
Nice! We have been using 3D Vision and it has been great. Does the IZ3D driver offer any improvements for DCS A10C ?

Win7 Ultimate x64 here...You really get the impression that the 64-bit (12 lane freeway) is being used in this sim. So many calcs going on at once and you can maintain performance. Definatlety a great example of 64-bit coding.

Wow thanx PererP that video is perfect. We have been doing exactly this type of stereo HUD adjustment for the past few months with existing games...Pushing HUD, Text, ect into depth to create a more enjoyable experience. Note in the fixes section... fix for 'insane 2': -moved hud and indicators further into the screen -mountains had wrong depth.. now should be right http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/02/insane-2.html I dropped a reply over at the thread here... http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=222386&st=1040&gopid=1398646entry1398646 Helix, eqzitara, mana84, and many others (sorry guys) have contributed many hours as a community effort, and it is all for the enjoyment of 3D

Thanks! I get it now. Your comparison shows perfectly. We have a debug DX9 .dll http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=222386 that allows us to pull out the individual vertex shaders, isolate them, and give them any depth we want. Now I just have to flip through the thousands of shaders to find the one you pointed out. This is going to be perfect! Thanks again

So in reality the Circle in the HUD display scales to the depth of the object it is tracking? I am confused...The physical "glass" 2D plane cant move, and I dont think the pilots are wearing stereoscopic HUD glasses, It has to remain 1 size and I could only imagine that the circle scales. Any feedback on this? I could suggest some vertex shader modifications to make it more life-like if we can get a good description of how it is in reality. If you look at this screenshot you can see that the circle in HUD is at the same depth at the other green data there. http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/sammaz/image/4f8e503e378501cd77000011/ (you can just flick between left and right eyes and you will see the change in perspective)

I got a 50in. 3D Panasonic back in Feb 2011. Paid 900.00 Its also the livingroom TV...So I don't think my rig is too special compared to some of the users here. I saw some youtube vids of Multi-projector setups using DCS...one that was doing in-air refueling that was amazing even in 2D.

"PeterP mentions an issue with the HUD in post #4 above: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...91&postcount=4" I have just been flying around for an hour inside the cockpit and there is nothing wrong with it...even the circl that is your crosshair is in 3D as it should be. It resides on a 2D plane in the cockpit a few feet away as it does in reality. Some 3DTV tips for flying in the cockpit... 1. Set your convergence on the gimbal ball. By this I mean "Hold your 3DVision Hotkey for increasing convergence untill the gimbal ball is perfectly aligned (viewable without glasses). This gives all the other controls a perfect depth. Stick, seat, HUD, dashboard, side control panels. 2. I set my xbox360 controler Right-stick to be my cockpit view control...flight controls on the left stick, your basic xbox360 gamepad...and it just astounds me as I look out the cockpit window as I bomb indescrimanently...lol When your convergence is set on the Gimbal you can clearly see\read all of your controls as you look around the cockpit...It is UNREAL! Back to the A10C that is now my livingroom! :) I will post more screens of my joyriding in a min... http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/sammaz/ THANX DCS TEAM!!!

Nice!...I would really like to try this test : Sony HMD 3DTV Play + TrackIR solution vs. This Curved Screen setup with (3) Acer 3DVsion Projectors. I guess the actual screens would add a bit to your cost ~1000.00 for primo ones. So for the (3) projector route you would be looking at 2200.00$ HDM and TrackIr = 1000.00$

More research on this.. I just found out that for 900.00 you can beat a 3D TV or triple projectors. http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666383670 -Sony's new HMD supports 3DTV Play at 720p -DCS A10C supports 3DTV Play at 720p -TrackIR connects to HMD with this clip http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02-products/product-Vector-PRO.html So, you are getting the same 720p 3D immersion (including peripheral vision) + with TrackIR...This will give you the ability to press your head against the cockpit glass and look down...I bet that would be so sick. So really DCS should offer a package for ~1000.00 that gives you the HMD, TrackIR, and A10C game. This would be an industry first and an all-in-one jaw dropper.
-
lol...I hear ya...I am new to DCS and they are really blowing my mind with the possibilities. I understand everyone in these forums already has investments in DCS hardware but....3D is SICK! Get this asap!
-
actually I just looked up your laptop spec and you can experience this right now if you have a 3DTV. 1. Just plug your HDMI from laptop into 3DTV 2. Enable "3DTV Play" in your Nvidia Control panel. There is a 14-day free trial that is fully functional from Nvidia. http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-14day-trial.html 3. Start DCS A10C with the 1280x720 configuration described here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=87103 4. TADA! Dont get sick from doing barrel rolls 100ft. from the deck.

800.00 $ USD for a single 50in. 3DTV 1200.00 $ USD for (3) Acer H5360 projectors in Nvidia 3D Vision Surround. One single GTX 680 can now power this setup, but I would recommend using (2) GTX 680's so that you can max your anti-aliasing. The casual DCS fan can now build a "military grade" stereoscopic simulator for dirt cheap. Once you experience this sim in 3D you will never go back.
-
Just put some new shots of the inside of the cockpit in 3D...It's jaw dropping. http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/sammaz/ When you look down at the ground , keep focus on 1 point, and then bank in that direction it really feels like you are there. This is just on (1) single 50 in. 3DTV...I cant imagine how cool this could get.
-
Awesome! That is a future-proofed video engine...You can now build a 3x720p projector setup in 3D for 2200.00 ! 3 x (Acer H5360) = 1200.00$ 2 x (GTX 680) in SLI = 1000.00$ Best practices would be to have all 3 projectors in a vertical orientation. This would give you an amazing experience. I also have an eye out for an surplus A10 chair...Mojave airplane junk yard is only 1 hr. away.

Works great now! 1280x720p allows me to get more FPS in stereoscopic mode...I am playing on a 50in. Panasonic 3DTV...This is astounding! THANKS!
-
Can you add 1280x720p support? Right now I am using 1920x1080 @ 24Hz for 3DTV Play. I would like to get 60fps using 1280x720 @ 60 Is this possible with a patch? THANK YOU!

This game is so sick in 3D...The cockpit is perfect! Screens... http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/sammaz/
