As requested, based on our conversation on Facebook, the community requests a future upgrade to the DCS F18C to include a potentially paid upgrade, by adding the AN\AAQ-33 to the DCS F18C, thus creating an official CF-18 variant supported by DCS World by Eagle Dynamics:
From the FB thread:
From Me:
DCS by Eagle Dynamics The current DCS model of the F/A-18C is, in my opinion, at least 90% representative of the CF-18. Following the completion of the Incremental Modernization Project (IMP) Phase II (around 2010–2012), the CF-18 fleet reached near-parity with the F/A-18C/D in terms of avionics, datalink, and targeting capabilities—albeit with some uniquely Canadian adaptations, such as the integration of the AN/AAQ-33 Sniper pod instead of the U.S. Navy’s ATFLIR.
With that in mind, the addition of the AN/AAQ-33 targeting pod to DCS should be seriously considered, particularly to enhance immersion for your substantial Canadian and RCAF-following player base.
You are the dream makers, and we—the community—are your partners in shaping this experience, not only by voicing our feedback but also by supporting your work through the purchase of modules. There is an apparent demand for Sniper pod support on the F/A-18C, and Eagle Dynamics should give this request genuine consideration.
Given that the F-35A is being introduced into DCS despite significantly less public documentation, it is well within the realm of possibility to implement the AN/AAQ-33 on the Hornet in a future update. My suggestion: don’t dismiss the idea—it would be a meaningful addition for many in the community. Personally, I’d be happy to pay a modest fee for a CF-18-specific upgrade if necessary.
Thank you.
From DCS World by Eagle Dynamics:
We are unclear what public RCAF Hornet documents you are referring to for such a version that includes operation of the AAQ-33 and other unique systems to the RCAF version. If you have such PUBLIC documents, kindly forward the public links to our community managers on our forum. Thanks.
