Free Track and DCS A10 (Steam)
Bexx0r replied to noisy_lightning's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Man, I am sorry to read that, as I went through the same s**t. Check this thread of my odyssey. Maybe there is something useful in it for you to run Freetrack 2.2, properly. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98665 As for the headtracker.dll: Which one are you using? I am using the ones from Samtheeagle (check his sig): http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1230498&postcount=1 EDIT: I just recall (already forgot about that crap...) that the headtracker.dlls only work with FT 2.2. Therefore, it is essential that you get FT 2.2 running. For me, a reinstall of Win7 did the trick, because there were too many "smart" apps from ASUS on it, interfering with the built-in camera, I guess. Good luck! Cheers Bexx0r -
Free Track and DCS A10 (Steam)
Bexx0r replied to noisy_lightning's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi noisy_lightning, in the meantime, try changing back the input.lua to its original state. That should fix your problem, because changing the path is not necessary, anymore, and probably is the cause for your problem. Cheers Bexx0r -
Freetrack 2.2 and PS3 Eye Toy --- Access violation
Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've been A-10C abstinent for the last days, but yesterday I had the chance to put in the axis controls. Guess what: I does not work - of course... As I play on a laptop, I thought, it could be because of the touchpad, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Do I have to activate mouselook, somewhere (SST, game controls, Freetrack)? Cheers Bexx0r -

Haha, of course it works out for you. I guess it would be too much to ask that it's working out for me, right out of the box... Would be too easy, hehe. But now that I think of it, I remember one day where all the keyboard mappings also appeared in the mouse column. I believe, I deleted the whole column. May I ask you for your mouse entries in the according column, so I can re-enter them as they should be? Thanks a lot in advance! Cheers and TGIF! Bexx0r -

And a new question from my side: As the view controls are taken over by Freetrack, I am not able to look around in external views. How to overcome that? Do I have to activate some kind of mouse look somewhere or is there another trick? Muchas Gracias! Bexx0r -

Thanks, Rico! And in the meantime, I had much time to practice and learn. It's so great to see the improvements in Start-Up, TGP, firing MAVs and other weapons and even managing to assign targets with help of JTAC and CDU. However, Re-Fueling is a hard nut! Didn't manage that, yet... So much fun and so much more to discover :book::pilotfly: Awesome Sim!! -

Hey there and Merry Christmas to all of you! I've been able now to assign the FT functions to the stick. Without SST running in the background it suddenly worked and I can proudly announce that now everything is running to my content. Thanks to all for your help and have a relaxing x-mas! Double-Cheers! Bexx0r BTW: I love Christmas, this year! I bought a PS3 for my Missus, so she gets distracted from me, flying all the time, hehe. :music_whistling: -
Freetrack 2.2 and PS3 Eye Toy --- Access violation

I am using the Saitek X52 non-pro with JackBauer profile. Maybe FT has a problem with the SST software running in the background? Tonight, I will try assigning the key without SST running. Maybe that does the trick. Or maybe it is the freetrack profile from Aries, which I use. Could be that there are some entries which don't match my system. I will dig further. Greets Bexx0r -

Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Man, that's just sick!! I just flew a self made mission with a couple of targets in order to test tracking and it's just great! What a huge difference without the IR filter! I'm glad that I didn't give up on FT. All this trouble was worth it, after all. :D And it's a great feeling, having accomplished it! Now I can finally concentrate on learning to fly. :pilotfly: I have got only one problem left: Assigning the FT keys to the stick. As I understand, you left-click once and then it asks for an input key. But when I press the according button on the stick, it is not recognized. On another occasion, when I left-clicked, it recognized that left mouse click already as a key assignment (contr1-011, or so). Very strange.... For now, I have been able to assign keyboard buttons, but I would like to have it on my stick. Any suggestions? Muchas Gracias! Bexx0r -
Hi benji, I suggest you check out the Eagle Wiki: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS_A-10C_Guides,_Tutorials_and_Reference_Documents There you will find documents with all the possible key combinations and their effects. EDIT: Also check out this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81116&highlight=logitech+extreme+profile There's a profile linked for your stick. Good luck! Bexx0r

Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
SUCCESS! :cheer3nc: That worked out really well, although I nearly broke my fingers while trying to open the casing. Now FT is seeing 3 dots, only, and nothing else. Very well! There is also definitely no need to change the resistor. Too bad that I have to get up early, tomorrow. So, ingame testing will have to be delayed until then, but I'm confident that now the essential hurdles are overcome. The rest should be finetuning. I may come up with one or another question, later, but for now I'd like to thank all of you for your kind assistance! Cheers! Bexx0r -

Harr harr, I'm looking forward to prying open that little bugger. :crash: According to the tutorial videos out there, the hardest part seems to be opening the housing - and getting out the filter, of course. @Aries: Is there a certain reason why you let it track blue dots instead of red? Cheers Bexx0r -

Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Oh man, I fear that Madone is right. With my luck, I have the newer one where I have to crack out the filter... :hmm: I will check when I'm home. Thanks for your settings, Aries! One more question about the FT settings: As you know, I have a 3 point clip which is mounted to the right side of my headset. When I rotate my head to the right, I notice that it zooms out and when rotating to the left, it zooms in, which is logical, because turning left brings it nearer to the cam and vice versa. Do you know how I can overcome that? I suspect that it is in the clip position settings, but I don't know from where to where I have to measure. I seem to remember that it says "center of head (just below the ear)" - or something similar. So does this actually mean that I have to measure from ear to clip or rather from mouth to clip (that would be my interpretation of "center of head")? Once again: Many thanks in advance  Cheers Bexx0r -

Freetrack 2.2 and PS3 Eye Toy --- Access violation

With ASUS crap, I meant at least 10 different little applications, e.g. Life Frame, Virtual Camera, Fancy Start, and so on. Also a lot of Cyberlink stuff. I don't know what exactly prevented FT from working, but now it's gone. Oh, PoleCat: I have more pro-TIR fodder for you, hehe: After applying the filter onto the cam, it does not recognize the leds, anymore. So there will be more fidddling until I am satisfied. ;-) A new resistor will help, I guess. Luckily, it's winter... Less. daylight  Greets Bexx0r -
Freetrack 2.2 and PS3 Eye Toy --- Access violation
Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hehe, if I had known that in advance, my first step would have been a new install of windows, or I would have bought a TIR from the beginning. But as I already put much time into planning and building the clip, I didn't want to give up. Let's see the upside: Now FT works and I have a fresh OS without all that ASUS crap on it. ;) About those controls to map: "Tracking - Center" and "Smoothing - Stable". How do I do that? Do I click into the according field and then I click the according button on the stick or do I have to enter a key like "5" and then bind it to the stick in the ingame controls? Thanks Bexx0r -
Freetrack 2.2 and PS3 Eye Toy --- Access violation
Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Aries, good hint, thanks! I will look into it, once I have found a better filter for the cam. Developed film seems to be too dark, because I cannot see the leds in daylight. I will try to get my hands on a floppy disc (not easy to retrieve as it is dead media...) and try that. I hope that I don't have to remove the IR-Filter from the cam... Or maybe my leds are glowing too weak and I have to put in a smaller resistor. BTW: I tried to check out the FT profile, you sent me (DCS A-10C PS3 Eye.ftp). I put it into the according FT folder, but once I click it, multiple error messages start to pop up. Is there a certrain "trick" to use it? Greets Bexx0r -
Freetrack 2.2 and PS3 Eye Toy --- Access violation
Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
SUCESS AT LAST!! :cheer3nc: Installing Windows7 fresh and clean did the trick. It turned out that Asus pre-installed a lot of crap on my laptop, which must have prevented FT2.2 to run. Now it works --- Halleluja! It was a long way.... I already did a test flight and it works without flaws. Now I will have to check out what is possible and what has to be done to have a smooth look inside the cockpit. I will dig this forum for it, but if you have good suggestions and tips, feel free to advise. Thanks a lot to all of you for your help! Cheers Bexx0r -
I had it once that I couldn't start the left engine. Then I noticed that my X52 throttle was somewhere in the middle position. After I put it all the way down to zero, I could start the left engine with left Alt+Home. Weird... Maybe that does the trick. Cheers Bexx0r

Multi-Monitor with Laptop in the middle?
Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ah okay, I see. Thanks a lot! I will have some thoughts on this and get on it as soon as I have proper headtracking, because that is priority #1 at the moment. Thanks for the quick replies! Bexx0r -
Multi-Monitor with Laptop in the middle?
Bexx0r replied to Bexx0r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Aren't there some kind of adaptors where you can put in both monitors and then connect it to the laptop? -
Hi there! I was thinking about ordering two additional monitors in order to setup a multi-monitor cockpit. I read somewhere that the main monitor, which would be the one on my laptop, needs to stand on the left side. Is this true? If so, it would be quite difficult to use the keyboard, when rotated 45° to the left. I thought about two more 15" or 17" monitors, which I would love to place left and right of my laptop. Furthermore, do you think my laptop can handle two more monitors? Laptop: ASUS N55SF I hope there is no other thread about this. Search didn't give out results for me. Thanks a lot! Bexx0r
