Die Huey ist vielleicht nicht am einfachsten zu fliegen, aber von der eingebauten Technik recht simpel. Zum Starten der Maschine sind viel weniger Handgriffe erforderlich als bei der Ka-50. Einfacher zu fliegen als die Ka-50 ist sie nicht, da kein Doppelrotor und keine Autopiloten. Dafür aber ist sie ein richtig konventioneller Typ von Hubschraubern. Das Mi-8 Modul ist halt noch unvollständig. Es braucht wieder mehr Handgriffe zum Starten als die Huey und hat Autopilot-Unterstützung. Wenn es um das Einsteigen in das reine Fliegen geht, würde ich die Huey empfehlen. Sie ist nicht ganz einfach zu fliegen (ist halt ein Hubschrauber) aber am "repräsentativsten" für die Klasse der Hubschrauber.

Nach meiner Erfahrung passieren bisher bei harten Landungen / Abstürzen eigentlich nur drei Arten von Schaden: 1. Das Heck bricht ab 2. Reifen platzen 3. Rotorblätter brechen auf verschiedenen Längen ab Manchmal schalten auch die Triebwerke ab, also gibt es da wohl auch schon weniger offensichtlichte Arten von Schaden.

Wollte ich auch gerade sagen, das Schadensmodell ist laut Belsimtek noch unvollständig. Ob sie jetzt wirklich so robust ist, wird erst die Zukunft zeigen.

Sollte so funktionieren. Sicher, dass das runtergeladene Modul auch die A-10C und nicht die A-10A ist?

Poste doch mal einen Track von einem Versuch, dann kann man das besser nachvollziehen.

Ist die Turbinenleistung voll aufgedreht? Dann müsste der Rotor im Leerlauf 95% haben.

A couple of days ago on the Virtual Aerobatics server, I watched someone break off the tail of their Huey, fly up, and land a minute later. Without even ripping off their rotor blades.

I don't know if that is just my faulty impression, or if the real Mi-8 sounds like that, but I think that I get the sound of a low RPM rotor in external view during flight. I get the normal sounds you expect from a flying heli, but beneath it I think I also hear the sound you get from a just started up heli on idle beneath the other sound. That was in multiplayer, if that's relevant.

I think you can't start a hot engine, at least the emergency aerial restart checklists require the temperature to be below a certain level. So you would have to wait for the engine to cool down which might take a long time.

It costs 30000 dollars to fire this weapon for 18 seconds!

To what everyone else said, I'll just add that the pressure drop and cooling effects are there all the time. Condensation only makes them visible to the naked eye. If anything, the cooling effect is reduced by condensation since that process releases energy.

Ein paar Sachen habe ich noch anzumerken: Der Tanker Texaco fliegt an einer Stelle einen plötzlichen Sturzflug. Habe leider nicht daran gedacht, auf die Karte zu schauen und mir die Stelle zu merken. Vorgestern hat er dabei einem Spieler den Fügel abgerissen, gestern bin ich noch davongekommen… In der Missionsbeschreibung erwähnte JTAC auf 124 MHz (Senaki Overwatch) war im Spiel beide male als ich drin war nicht verfügbar. Dann noch die riesigen Funktürme, die in Kutaisi links und rechts der Bahn stehen. Die sind in der Mission reingesetzt, richtig? In der Realität würde das nie und nimmer existieren. Da gibt es Maximalhöhen für Hindernisse in bestimmten Umkreisen von einer Landebahn, und wenn es Gesetze und Bestimmungen nicht vorschreiben würden, dann doch der gesunde Menschenverstand. Solange die Sichtbedingungen nicht zu schlecht sind und der Seitenwind nicht zu stark, ist das freilich nur ein Schöhnheitsfehler.

In some video about the Ka-50 I saw a short clip of it doing the same. But then, that kind of take off is even listed in the manual, so meh, just standard procedures :P

Ich habe dabei auch Server-Plugins im Verdacht, die Pings von Spielern überwachen und die Spieler ab einer gesetzten Grenze rausschmeissen. Wenn der Ping schon grenzwertig ist, kann er sich auch kurzzeitig über die Grenze bewegen. Ich habe auch schon mal die Verbindung verloren, als ich vom Desktop zurück zu DCS gewechselt bin. Wohl weil DCS beim Reinitialisieren der Grafik bei der Serververbindung etwas nachlässt und dann über die Ping-Grenze rutscht.

To further complement that, using the ailerons to bank creates an even stronger adverse yaw. Say you're banking left, this means you use the ailerons to generate increased lift on the right and reduced lift on the left. As more lift means more drag, the aircraft will yaw to the right if you don't use rudders to counter the force. Both effects are less pronounced on aircraft with low aspect ratio wings such as fighters and more on the A-10 (and most on gliders).

As the manual says, gravity/suction feed is enough to keep the engines running (off the internal tanks at least, don't know about external) below 10000 ft.

That said, EAC activation is somewhat dodgy in my experience. Often after starting everything up everything else and switching on EAC as the last action before taxiing, the EAC warning light stays on. I double and triple check that everything required is activated and can find no reason it shouldn't just work. Sometimes I say "whatever", leave the EAC switch in the on position and taxi to the runway and during takeoff prechecks I see the EAC light is off. Other times it just turns off during the time I look around searching for things I might have forgot (just looking, not actually touching anything). INS is aligned and in NAV mode of course.

You need to enable the nose wheel steering system, otherwise it doesn't do anything in response to rudder.

There are exceptions for educating citizens, defending against anti-constitutional efforts, art or science, research or teaching, reporting about current affairs or history, and similar purposes. §86(3) StGB, for those who are curious. You forgot the Bachem Ba 349, but yeah. Also there's a Ju-52 which I think would have had swastikas on it while it was operational. And I don't think the V1 and V2 were even marked while they were operated. Given the exceptions, it would be likely legal for them to have historically accurate markings on their exhibits. But a) visitors would invariably be offended and there would be lots of swastikas just in that one hall and b) it's a museum of science and technology, the paint job isn't all that relevant, so why plaster an exhibition hall with swastikas?

Multiplayer servers can disable data export to prevent cheating. That's where you get 1k log files with no usable content.

When the engine and rotor have zero RPM, RPM is definitely low. What else should it display? You can disable the warning tone with a switch just below the warning lights panel.

There's a separate setting for cockpit shadows, if I remember right. Make sure that is on.
