I tried it without the drivers installed, I got the same results, a no go.
I find it hard to believe that Thrustmaster hasn't updated the drivers for this particular product of theirs, a product that's still being sold.
One set says it's for Windows 7, which is the set I use. I have no problems using the joystick in FSX, as a matter of fact, it works great in FSX. I know, it's an older sim. I've searched for newer/updated drivers but keep getting referred to their website that has the older drivers they say is for Vista/Windows 7. I usually use my Saitek Cessna flight yoke/throttle quadrant but I don't think it's be appropriate for the A-10C.
So yeah, I tried it the way you suggested with no drivers. No luck :(
