Can you explain what you mean by saying that? It seems very disrespectful saying that to someone who has helped out the DCS community.

Hi I have found this reproduction of the original P-51 Pilot's Manual very informative: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/193532781X?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 If you want to fly the Mustang within real world limits and learn more about flying the P-51 then this manual is worth every penny. It is also well illustrated and is very humorous in places. A highly recommended book.

Thanks for the info, Buzzles. Anyone got any further suggestions?

Hello Does anyone have a good setup for X, Y Saturation and Curvature for Pitch and Roll for the Saitek HOTAS? I am trying my best to take down the 109 in a dogfight, but I end up stalling and in a spin. I just can't seem to find a stick setting that works. I've only had the Saitek a couple of days and are replacements for my CH Products HOTAS. If I fly with my fingertips, using my old HOTAS, I can get the 109. TIA

Wolf obviously agrees that a Korea campaign map should exist:

Korea Map - ED please consider (Not Political) I believe a map and campaign area of the Korean Peninsula would work very well as a fictional war theatre for DCS World. If a Korea map was created campaigns based on the 1950s Korean Conflict could be created and then fictional conflicts in the 60s-90s and into the new century could be created. This would allow a whole range of aircraft and weapons to be considered. With a 1950s campaign the existing P-51 could be used and Russian/Chinese/Korean aircraft, of that era, could be designed as adversaries. I recently watched a DVD about the greatest fighters of WWII and it mentioned the Vought Corsair was used right up to the 60s and in Korea. I am sure lots of simulator pilots would love to fly this aircraft. I am no expert on the Korean conflict, however my understanding is that jets like the Mig-15 and F-86 Sabre were quickly introduced into this conflict. Who wouldn't want to fly these jets? I am not a warmonger and I am glad this never happened, but if Korea and the NATO had sporadic conflicts, right up to the present day, a whole range of aircraft could be considered including the modern jets and helicopters that are already part of DCS World. DCS World WWII will be wonderful to have, however the Normandy Campaign has been done so many times already in IL-2 and Cliffs of Dover another campaign theatre needs to be considered. I believe a different campaign theatre should be considered to give DCS World a wider market and longer life. I don't feel Iraq and Afghanistan should be used because of the conflicts going there on and it would disrespectful to our veterans to have a theatre of war based in this region. Falcon 4.0 showed a fictional theatre of war can be based in Korea. I don't believe the Korean Peninsula is that large and could be created within DCS. Please believe me when I say I bear no ill will against the North or South Koreans. I know what I am proposing is a huge body of work, however it gives DCS World a way of linking and using classic aircraft like the P-51 and then have a continuous time line to introduce the modern jets. I hope my ideas are taken into consideration by Eagle Dynamics.

Many thanks for the quick reply. At least WWII is still going ahead.

What has happened to the Friday newsletter that Ilya used to send out every week? I liked the transparent nature of these newselleters where Iiya would talk about the problems as well the progress he and his team where making. I hope this does not mean the end of DCS WWII.

Which Lua file do I need to look at to get telemetry
Hypo replied to Hypo's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I have just started to get back into DCS after a while away from it. The links you have given me look great. Thank you. -
I have contacted XSimiulator.net and waiting for a reply. If the XSimulator community can help my friend it will be a great help.

The FCIProject and gSeat were fun to work on. It gave me a good grounding in Java and has been the springboard for other projects. I really wish I had pursued a Java/JSP application I called galleryJ. If I had I would have invented http://www.dropbox.com and that is not BS :smilewink: Sometimes you just don't know when you've invented something that, one day, will be a world beater :doh: I really hope SimTools is a success. There is definitely a market out there for it. http://simaviatik.com/en did want to license my software, but to license software, across international boarders, and to properly protect myself was nigh on impossible. I have contacted XSimulator. Hopefully he will reply.

I am not trying to blow my own trumpet, however nothing like SimTools really existed back in 2004 when I started the FCIProject. The FCIProject was my way of learning Java and to control SimKits. I then moved onto much better Flight Illusion instruments. I was approached by Paul Hughes and he asked me if I could write some software for his original simulator. Paul and I worked really well together and went onto build gSeat-2. Paul is a great hardware engineer and our collaboration culminated in what I believe is, conceptually, one of the best non-commercial flight simulators around. Because of personal reasons I haven't been able to devote any time writing new control software for gSeat to work with DCS. If I could, I would. The first really powerful programming language I learnt was C. I would've been happy to write the new software in C and Lua, but it just hasn't happened. If XSimulatutor.net can help Paul I will be delighted. To see a fantastic simulator like gSeat idle is like seeing a Spitfire grounded. They both deserve to be operational and doing what they do best :)

I am probably going to get out of simulator building. If DCS WWII does come along I will probably get myself a new HOTAS and rudder pedals and be satisfied with flying with them. The problem I've got is I wrote the software for my friends gSeat simulator, originally for IL-2. The plan was to write new software for CoD, but when that turned out to be a flop we turned our attention to DCS. Of course CoD is now much better that ATAG have taken over. I feel duty bound to write the control software for my friend, but my heart isn't into learning C#. If I was going to write new control software I would write it in C and Lua. If DCS WWII gets the funding then I will look at writing the new control software. I will pass on XSimulator.net to my friend. His gSeat deserves to be working with DCS or CoD. I've got other software projects that I should be working on. The simulator control software has become a distraction.

I didn't get any worthwhile feedback from EA, sorry to say. All I needed was a list of the available telemetry. When EA did get back to me, after waiting serveral months, they said they don't really support SimPit builders. Now there has been an announcement about DCS WWII on Kickstarter I may restart my efforts to get something written. As long as the funding is found and DCS WWII goes into development then I will reassess what I want to do. I have pledged enough to be on the Alpha release lists. Hopefully this will allow me to feedback my ideas and requirements. Hope you SimPit builders get involved;
