  1. I'm actually serious about this. It would be awesome (though probably not a fit with the rest of the brand) to add in the 1980's Flash Gordon Hawk Men as a support squadron. On the off chance that you have all sorts of free time to devote to such a side-project.
  2. A solid F-15 simulation? It's almost too much to hope for!
  3. Ha-ha...yep...that was a bit dumb of me. However, I can only claim that I've been working around the clock for the last several days on a project so my brain is not firing on all cylinders. (Of course, neither was it unreasonable to assume that when a program called DCS_updater.exe runs and does not update the program, that something is wrong with the updater program. I was lead to this program because of a post I found in the forum when I was searching for a solution before I posted the question and entered the ticket.) Ticket # is 20278
  4. Hmmm...I sympathize with the original poster's plight. I'm no idiot, but what I thought we were getting was a game plugin, much like A-10 or BS, that would come up as an option when you started DCS World. From the docs, it was not obvious to me that this drops in more like an add-on to existing games. I, too, was looking for a "combined arms" button off of the launch menu. My expectation certainly was highly involved in my not understanding the manual and what the game is and how you access it. My suggestion: Put at the very top of the manual: "How you start Combined Arms", and then include, in gory detail, that the game is not a separate game launched from the DCS World menu, but rather it is accessed from within other game modules when you are flying a mission. Yes, I see now that the info is in the manual, but it didn't click for me when I first read it because I just wasn't expecting it to work this way. My 2 cents...worth all you paid for it...
  5. Oh heavens...that easy, eh? I only have a DCS and multiplayer DCS icon on my desktop. When I saw that the icon actually points to a "check for update" type exe, I thought THAT was the trigger. Good grief! That worked. Thank you!
  6. I sent this message to support via a ticket, but on the off chance some user knows of a solution I am also posting it here. Thanks. Yesterday I tried to install a new purchase of combined arms...and was told I had to update my DCS World. I launched DCS world and it immediately began to verify files and then started to download the update. Stupidly, I walked away from the computer assuming it would take care of things (I run windows 7 home premium, 64-bit). When I returned there was a message saying "user aborted update" (which I most certainly did not). My guess here is that an executable was downloaded to my machine and when the auto-updated tried to run it, a windows security window popped up asking me to enter my password to give the update admin rights on my machine. Since I wasn't at the computer (I did not expect this to happen), I'm assuming the pop-up timed out and that is why the updater thinks I aborted the update. The problem is, now the auto-updater refuses to try to update my installation of DCS World. I confirmed that my launch icon is pointed at DCS_updater.exe...and have even tried running this program manually. Each time the program just starts up and says nothing about needing to upgrade DCS world. I waited 24-hrs in case it has some logic to wait a day before checking for updates, but it is still not trying to update the software and I still cannot install my new combined arms module (this is like getting a toy for Christmas and not getting batteries for it!!!). I've looked through the program directories (I am a programmer by profession so I'm comfortable with this) to see if some update .exe file was downloaded and needed to be run, but I could not find it in the program tree (I may have missed it, but I didn't spot anything). PLEASE tell me that there is a way to force the auto-update to try to update my version of DCS World without having to re-install the entire thing and lose all of my hours of configuration work! I am currently running DCS World version number 1.2.2.7570. Thanks!
