  1. Curious what the best choice will be (and what Wags' choice is) for throttle, considering the F/A-18 has detents and such for afterburner.

Definitely heard instructors verbally telling the pilots in Jetstream to "walk the throttle" a couple times. And then there's throttle input only landings without stick input for the carrier.

  2. And honestly some of the tacan stuff might have been done on the warthog on its MFDs, it's been a while sorry if I don't remember that correctly thx

  3. Can someone explain if the UFC auto dims and how to tell if it's on? Like when in the startup sequence its powered

Also what's a good way to get some practice with it generally? I'm accustomed to changing TACAN and ILS settings with the A10 with the manual knobs, along with the radio in the a10c is a lot more simple and low tech. Guess I just need hours to accumulate?

    Thank you

  4. Wonder when they have historically released early access products previously (as in what time of day).

Yeah we've all been waiting forever. Thanks ED for giving this module the attention it deserved. Can't wait to sink hours upon hours into it and deck a MIG squarely in the cockpit with the 20mm.

  5. I not big on multiplayer because I like to enjoy the action at my pace, and besides I would get smoked by you hardcore sim enthusiasts. God knows how many hours I would have to put in to get any good in these simulators nowadays.

With an Oculus and all your real world experience?!? I bet you would do better than you think! https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/ has regular pick up games - hope you consider trying one some day (particularly once F/A-18C early access drops)!

My favorite part of the strike training was doing low levels (500kts/500ft) they were quite a rush.

Especially when doing a pop-up maneuver that shoots you to the moon (500ft to 14kft in less than 40 seconds). Those were the absolutely best hornet moments for me.

Haha must have been an amazing experience! Can't wait to try this out in the module :D:joystick:

  6. 760 ti would be a great solution here, I'm just highly doubtful it will retail for 230 pounds or less after VAT and in general higher prices than what's seen in the US.

The 760 ti is a rebranded 670 that's launching at computex taipei (4 June) so my recommendation to attempt to find a 670 (like these) on ebay in the coming weeks still stands.

  7. Checked scan.co.uk and overclockers.co.uk and it looks like (with VAT) on the nvidia front you could go for a 660ti 2GB - "02G-P4-3660-KR" or an AMD 7950 3GB "FX-795A-TDJC."

At that price point I recommend the AMD solution, unless you could find something like a 670 on ebay for the same amount.

  8. 600 EUR or approx 790 USD can buy you a significant upgrade from what you currently have, in particular a SATA3 mobo and SSD, a 64 bit OS and 8GB of ram, and a new processor. Haswell is coming soon, along with the rebranded nvidia gpus (GTX 760,770,780) which will affect prices and availability of their entire lines. You can probably score pretty well on ebay in the coming weeks, so it's definitely something to consider.

Here are some ideas for parts. They would both work well the way I posted them but you could obviously take a GPU or an SSD from one to the other. If you have a good PSU you can reuse then it would change the builds, but in ways that I hope you could see yourself.

  9. Any other game I play it does not happen fsx bf3 Ac3 far cry 3 . Only in DCS.

Rather strange considering some of the games you mentioned, particularly Battlefield 3 and Far Cry 3 can be just as, if not more demanding on a GPU than DCS.

I would say download MSI Afterburner and monitor your temps and fan speeds during gameplay. Then once you know the fan RPM you're reaching in DCS adjust it in afterburner manually to a speed that effectively reduces the load temps to a level you're comfortable with, and also eliminates the apparently abnormal buzzing sound you're hearing.

  10. A-10C Wingman after RTBing attempts to take off from parking ramp, onto grass surrounding runway and destroys own aircraft+ejects after colliding with a building.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Have wingman RTB to Batumi

    2. Wingman lands and is standing by at the parking area

    3. Tell wingman to rejoin formation

    4. Wingman does not take off from the runway, but instead crashes into a building as described

  11. JTACs are in general buggy or unresponsive in A-10c, ie I hear partial communications or I'll hear the 9 line and then say ready to copy remarks four times and hear nothing for 10 minutes or nothing at all. This didn't happen in 1.2.3 and I'll post a track if I can.

  12. The optical versions support force correlate mode, that does not require a lock. You slew to SPI, collapse the gate completely (optical tracking of the point under the gate cross, I guess) now you may launch at any time. To my experience it is vital to have good altitude to get more range and firing from 9-10 nm should mostly result in a hit.:smilewink:

Hey thanks, this is what I was trying to figure out. The wikipedia article cites a weapons information book from 2002 as its source for the 12ish nm range for the AGM-65, I guess with enough altitude and attack angle it's possible.
