DCS cannot do “smart scaling” which changes the size of the 3D models, this affects the radar cross section in the game. Wages explained this a few years ago and it’s why the 2D sprites were used instead. Regardless the result between the two is the same and it didn’t work. Plenty of threads on that here to search up.
I didn't mean change the size of the physics models or whatever, just whatever visual aids or whatnot they might come up with, whatever that might be, to assist people would most likely be optional. Just like how the labels and dots are optional, or various other unrealistic things such as invulnerability or infinite ammo. Options are good and you can cater the experience to your liking. Then everyone would hopefully be happy.

If ED do implement some sort of smart scaling system (that's better than the one they tried before) they would probably make it optional so the people who are struggling can enable it and the purists who think everything is fine can ignore the option. I imagine that more hardcore online servers would disable it as well. So everyone would be happy.

Run the training missions from the Editor, there you can enable labels before running the mission. It also has the advantage that you will get a debriefing and the flight time will be logged on your logbook :)
Huh, didn't think of that. Cheers!

Switch to hot mic and then you'll be able to hear the groundcrew.

I have labels enabled in the options because I really struggle to spot anything otherwise but in the Guns Guns Guns and Sidewinder training missions the labels are disabled and I can't toggle them on, making the training missions incredibly difficult for me.

Yeah that Master Test switch is a pain in the ass to read. Took me a while whilst leaning over at the edge of my TrackIR range to actually figure out the labels.

Ok I’m blind as I can’t see this in the manual. How on earth do we use it, and can we add our own tracks.
Specifically the Topgun soundtrack ;)
The control bindings are under the walkman category, right near the bottom of the selection box. Default binds are LShift+M to play, LShift+N to stop. LCtrl+M to fast forward and LCtrl+N to rewind.
I've switched out the soundtrack for the Top Gun one. Just convert MP3s to OGG and rename the tracks to Song1, Song2... and it works fine. Files go in 'Mods\aircraft\F14\Sounds\Walkman\' I also replaced the F-14 main menu music with the Top Gun Anthem. Menu music is found in 'Mods\aircraft\F14\Sounds\EditorMusic\'
Volume controls for the Walkman would be a nice improvement as it is quite a bit loud.

Can you please disable the the max-width property in the CSS sheets as suggested in the Reddit thread?

Apologies I know you asked a simple question and I kinda wrote a novel. :)
No worries, I appreciate it. My warthog has almost zero noticeable deadzone so I should be ok there. I've been thinking about getting an extension for a while now, it would also help a lot with other chopper modules I have. Cheers!

Not sure how control settings make more of a difference than with other modules.
I'm thinking more about the axis input settings, saturation and curvature settings for the cyclic.
-
Look TBH I'm happy enough with it, I wont get into the FM arguments but as a DCS module it's fine, I will say the input controls that you use will make a tremendous difference to how you perceive this module.
YMMV.
What input settings would you recommend? I know they can vary a fair bit between different controllers and by personal preference but it'd be nice to know what I should be generally aiming for. Cheers.

Nah, I think that the map should be as close as possible to the actual era of the conflict. It's a shame there's no way to add or remove an airbase depending on the date used in game.

Ok. I hope ED relase today to standelone im here 6 hours and waiting.
They'll probably release it at 10am Pacific Time which is in 6 hours

I got warned that the following gate would be really low but I wasn't expecting this!
That's a bit too low for me to handle! :surrender:
Anyway, as I can't fly through that gate the rest of the training mission doesn't trigger.
Running the regular 2.5 stable release branch.
[MISSION] Navigation Tutorial skips a bit
in Bugs and Problems
Posted · Edited by Megadyptes
adding version
In the Navigation tutorial when it gets to the part explaining the distance indicator it doesn't advance nor does it tell you to press space, it just waits forever. When you do eventually decide to hit the spacebar it does indeed advance onto the next section explaining how to manually change waypoint by moving the data selector but it only plays about a second of audio and moves straight on to the next part about pressing the waypoint buttons.
I thought maybe I had hit the space bar twice or something but tried again a couple of times and got the same result. I took a screenshot to see what that part of the tutorial says and it tells you to move the data selector to AKT POS but the dial is already in that position so I guess that's why the tutorial immediately advances to the next section.
edit: should add that I'm on open beta 2.5.6.
