  1. Yup, but Huey is just a beta version... I really hope for a much wider armament suite in the final release. The M75 and M129 grenade launchers were widely used on Hueys in Vietnam... Or the M6 subsystem (M60s machine guns)... or the XM3 ARA... Door mounted M197, M134 miniguns / .50 cal's could also be nice (but for now door mounted armament is virtually useless without AI door gunners). Even TOW launchers or SS.11 missiles in the M22 subsystem were used on the Huey... Yet I'm not quite sure about combination of these particular subsystems with the H version of the Huey - perhaps some of them were used only on "short" B/C/F Huyes? So... Hopefully it will became more usefully and flexible as an attack chopper in the near future...
  2. Obviously it was an irony ;) You just talk about Mk.5s alot here and there. Mk.5's existence in this sim is just only another indication that maybe it's not so perfect as it seems and there's plenty to improve upon. I guess even more such problems will arise with the new modules in the future. But if you ask me - I wouldn't start with such a details when there are huuuuuuuuge problems like no support for modern multicore processors which causes the sim to have really poor performance.
  3. I agree that FFARs have too much recoil. But it's not like they shouldn't have any effect on the chopper whatsoever. I remember a chat with the Mi-24 pilot who stated that a salvo of multiple (I don't remember exact number) of unguided rockets could significantly slow down the chopper and set it off course. Some years ago I also talked to a former military Mi-2 pilot (which is in fact easier to compare with the UH-1) who said that a unguided rocket salvo could stop the chopper mid-air (I think he was exaggerating a bit though). But in fact when I was desiging OFP addons (Mi-2 addon in particular) I've seen some videos of Mi-2 rocket attacks and it presented similar behaviour to this of DCS's UH-1 (on the other hand russian launchers have a pretty dense perforated sheet of metal on the rear of the launcher, behind the rocket's exhaust which may have something to do with that).
  4. It's hard to compare GAU-8 to FFAR. Two different animals. Even if GAU-8 AP round won't penetrate as thick armor as your beloved Mk.5 does - remember that in case of GAU-8 the amount of rounds that hit the target counts (remember it fires 30 rounds per second!), so the A-10 can get effective mobility kill even on heavier tanks if only it hits the engine bay area, tracks, sensor suite etc. DCS dammage model on AI controlled vehicles isn't sophisticated. It's poor. I would argue it's worse than OFP's dammage model. Don't overestimate it. ED just had to model these mobility kills somehow in the sim so it's will be "playable". It seems it's not the case with FFARs though. And I find the hydras more than sufficient to kill BMPs, BTRs, BRDMs, MT-LBs and various lighter targets with a single hit. I don't think they are too weak. Simple as that.
