  1. Thanks for explaining why it kept getting darker through the mission. Was still able to stay in formation all the way back to home (with a tiny bit of F5 camera cheating lol), but was tough!

Really was a great start to the campaign. Flying above the clouds in the moonlight, in formation, with Eisenhowers’ D-Day Message playing in the headset, was truly something memorable.

    On to mission 2 soon!

  2. Recently back in the P51.

When taking a full fuel load out, I burn left wing tank first. Once airborne, I’ll burn aft tank to 25. Then switch to left drop tank for 5 min and then right drop tank for 10 min.

Now I cannot get the left drop tank to feed again. Every time I switch back engine sputters after a few seconds and fuel pressure drops to zero. All other tanks including right drop tank work fine. But can’t get left drop to feed again. Fuel booster pump is on.

Anyone know what is going on???

    Thanks

Simple reason is that we wait for the module to be sufficiently developed enough before we start work on a campaign.  Having features added as we develop is obviously a complication we have to deal with, but the Viper was very bare bones at launch as we all know.  My Cerberus North campaign was actually supposed to be for the F-16, but I switched it to the Hornet when I realised just how much stuff was still missing.

Once the module was in a better place, we (the campaign Devs) started work, which is why there's campaigns from Baltic Dragon, Reflected and myself all in development at the same time.  These projects do however take a long time to complete.

First In - Weasels Over Syria has taken a year of development, but the good news is a that release is very soon, fingers crossed it should drop on the 2.9 update, which has just been announced as the 19th.

First mission is available as a demo from my discord, there's a link to it in the thread posted above by snakedoc.

Didn’t know the Cerbus North Campaign was supposed to be for F16 (guess I’m lucky since the F18 is my favorite).

Anyways will be buying the F16 just to be able to fly your new campaign (as well as the others coming out). Really loved Cerbus North.

(Hope you revisit the F18 sometime in the future again)

  4. The modifier in the controls acts like a "toggle" vs holding it for the modification.

For example with the a10 and f18 I have one hat that has system functions and then I hold the pinky switch down (set as my modifier). And when I hold this pinky down that hat now trims the aircraft.

However for some reason in the tomcat, one press of the modifier will switch (or toggle) it from trim to the other functions. I dont think it should stick, it should only be a modifier when held down.

    Thanks!

  5. hit left alt and return and see if that improves it. There is a thread somewhere that is saying that v-sync isn't working as full screen isn't really full screen until you do that, but rather a borderless window.

    x2.

Game is running in borderlands windowed mode. You must press right alt + enter to make it true full screen, everyone you load into the map or mission. This seems to have made everything smoother for me.

  6. Anyone using a GTX 660? I won't be able to be home to test it for another few days or so and I'm curious to know if I'm going to need to upgrade or not.

I also have an i7-3770, but I don't think thats too much a limiting factor now that the GPU handles more.

  7. I'm just coming back from a break from DCS, I'm very glad to see you guys are still just as passionate about killing modern jets. Once I clear the dust off the flight controls I'll hopefully be back into it :)

  8. Just curious if Leatherneck knows what block they plan on doing for the A model. There are some very interesting minor differences between different A blocks. One thing I can remember was that the later blocks were fitted with an ARI (aileron rudder interconnect) which compensated for adverse yaw tendencies by automatically applying rudder With aileron. The early A's had no such system and thus nose control especially on final was very difficult.. I think it was described as "trying to heard elepants"

  9. so after all this time, I've finally figured out how to shut off the damned missile tone... the launch override/bomb arming switch behind the stick... toggle it... just thought i'd get that out there...

and i've come to the same conclusion: R-13M1 is a better missile, R-60Ms allow for bigger mistakes cause you can carry more of them. so that's why recently my standard loadout is 4x R60M and 2x R13M1

No R-3r anymore? I still think the r3r is fantastic, and it's the only missile that works head on.

  10. Taylor that is too funny!! Ran out of time to fly with you tonight but I'll link up with you again.

Anyway I had a short fun session on the 104th. I was hunting near the red tgt area and saw a jet taxiing at Maykop which is the red a/o. Suprisingly the r13 tracked it and I fired. Ended up killing a friendly, sorry Tango 117.

Turns out the base starts as blue, so despite the fact that ground vehicles were blowing up around it being attacked by red a10s, he still made it down safely. It turns to a red base after the targets are destroyed. So my mistake. His clanmate then quickly shot me down in retaliation ( I don't blame him lol).

Anyway shortly after I end up joining in with the 117 guys and fly as a 4th 21 in their formation. All of a sudden the leader breaks as we make contact with an enemy 15, I try to find it but one of our migs was shot down :(. I quickly find the attacking f15 visually and hit him with an r-13m1...Ironically the Mig who got shot down, was the guy who team killed me in retaliaton for Tango.. so I retaliated his death..weird circumstance lol

Anyway I also later on get fired at by a f15, dive low and he ends up flying over me without noticing that he did. I get behind him and hit him with an r13m1 as well.

Both 15s I killed were on the deck so interestingly I couldn't use my radar to lock or iff them.

I now have MUCH more faith in the R13m1 vs the r60m. I have had good luck with the 13s range, tracking, and damage done to target, and I have never seen a fighter survive a hit. R60m for me has had range, tracking and damage problems for me, as I have had the missile go stupid many times, and I have even had f15s limp home after being hit by one. R13m1s despite being older don't seem to chase flares any worse than the r60m does.

However, If the enemy is smart with flares the 60 has an advantage in that you can carry double the number. It may also be slightly more maneuverable in a dogfight setting but I believe the 13 is much better overall

Sorry guys wish I had videos for you but I'm not sure how to make them. Just imagine my stories if they were out of a book ;).

  11. On 104??? Damn lemme catch that replay

Yup, Ill try and find the track.

    Edit:

I believe the mission was Operation Leapord???? Took off from Nalchick I believe and bullseye was a nice big mountain range. Perfect for stalking quietly down there until a target pops up. Also it provides great cover if I get locked and fired at from someone.

  12. Well I know for the Mig-21 there are 2 missiles available. One is the RS-2US which is a beam rider which looks backward to follow the radar similar to how the vikhr follows the laser.

Then you have the R-3r, which is a SAHR and it simply picks up the reflected energy from the painted aircraft.

And then from what GG said earlier some later SAHR missiles don't follow the painted energy but receive an uplink signal from the aircrafts radar

Edit: point being there are many different ways that missiles receive guidance.. not to mention the data link system used with the 120

Also I'd be really interested in knowing how the Phoenix could keep any contact with radar if it was soaring at 80k feet.. far above the shooter aircraft. I'd really expect that the Phoenix used a datalink system similar to the aim120
