I love flying the CS C-130 in FSX, I feel like having a well simulated classic T-56 powered C-130 in DCS would outclass that by a mile. I love large classic aircraft with analogue flight decks and FE panels. A huge advantage is that most of the information about operating these aircraft has been declassified. I feel like we could have a lineup of Russian heavies and their western counterparts:
DCS: IL76 vs. DCS: C-141
DCS: C-130 vs. DCS: An-12
DCS: P-3 vs. DCS: Il-18/Il-38
DCS: An-124 vs. DCS: C-5a (Though the operation of the MA/DaR system is still clasified AFAIK)
These aircraft with full systems depth and shared cockpit multiplayer--The Il-76 takes 4-6 crew members to fly properly! (but can still be handled by one with view switching)--would bring a whole new set of players to DCS. They could add more to combined arms, replace AI on multiple fronts (imagine flying the refueling tanker), or even be combined arms. What I'm imagining is that we could have an AEWS/AWACS version of a heavy, and those who own combined arms would use shared cockpit multiplayer to operate a command console in the cabin. It would be just like combined arms, except should the aircraft be compromised (shot down or forced to return), your team would temporarily lose the ability to conduct forces on the ground.
I feel like including heavies would put so much more strategy into the game, which is exactly what this game needs.
