  1. I started thinking maybe he has lag or when I actually saw (wish I didn't) you can't track the chopper properly because of Shkval (Squall) lag maybe thats what you meant....

Boy you are in a world of hurt if I see you :)

Well, I scored a direct hit with 2 vikhrs and cannon, and there was no damage whatsoever on top of the Shkval lag. Never experienced that before.

It seemed like the target chopper ran to the ground but apparently that was just because of lag and he actually survived. But why were you shooting friendlies?

If you take note of my LWS, I will tell you he was the one that activated it and threw a couple vikhrs my way lol

  2. I was quite confused as well. Apparently they are dishing out some updates for FC3.

New Key Features for the Flaming Cliffs Series:

    • No longer is an installation Lock On: Modern Air Combat required!

    • A DCS World module that is compatible with all other DCS titles.

    • New Advanced Flights Models (AFM) for the A-10A and Su-25. New AFM for the Su-27 and F-15C coming soon!

    • New 6 degrees of freedom (6DOF) cockpit and model for the F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, Su-25 and Su-33. New MiG-29 cockpit coming soon!

    • New campaigns and single player missions.

    • Improved flight dynamics for air-to-air missiles.

    • Updated and improved HUDs and other cockpit systems.

    • Resource Manager that adds logistics control to missions.

    • Expanded theatre of operations map into eastern Georgia.

    • Countless other improvements in the areas of the mission editor, special effects, new models, improved terrain detail and AI.

  3. What he said. This isn't for you.

I love it when people get this 'realistic simulator' and expect to hop in and play it like it's "Battlesh*t" or S"h*t Thunder".

At that point you have completely missed the point of a simulator.

So if you don't like it, go elsewhere as this isn't for you.

Not trying to be a dick, but it's just the truth.

Some people love this, others hate it. It's not mainstream for a reason.

I don't think he is talking about the complexity of the game, but rather some issues he is having.

    The current issues Im having:

my x52pro slider does not engage speed brakes and Im flying over targets

when landing with no visability, my ILS is giving me accurate left and right on the gimbal but not altitude direction, so I cant get on the glide path

I have a really good card, the Asus Matrix 7970... I want the maximum performance settings for the game but am having trouble finding out exactly what that means. Such as vsync... whether to do 8x etc etc... if someone could post a screen shot of completely maxed out settings I would like to set mine up the same.

But I do agree with what you said in general.

  4. Hello,

I played BS1 along time ago and only started playing BS2 for a few days. I have some questions if anyone would care to answer.

    1. Concerning the cockpit lighting brightness knob. IIRC in BS1 it controls all relevant gauges and panels at the same time. But in BS2 only the Targeting Display panel and the PVI 800 NAV panel have gradual brightness while everything else is fullbright on or off. Is there a way to go back the uniform fine control for all panels and gauges?

    2. My NVG mode is black and white instead of green and it blurs the heck out of everything at low levels, couple with the fact that most panel/gauge lights are now always full on of off brightness.. things don't feel very good. Anyway to get back to BS1 style NVG?

    3. The training missions. Why are they non interactive vids now? Surely the old ones are better? The filesize are huge and the audio are out of sync. Are the old training .miz files still compatible? I might dig up my old copy of BS1 for them.

    4. Did the renderer changed from using DX9? Can't get the game to use a modded dx9 dll like in BS1.

    5. Model viewer is crashing for me. Does it no longer work?

That's it for now. Many thanks.

P/S: I might sound over critical of the game but I still love it, the core game is still BS that I knew and loved. Plus the engine is much faster, wingmen aren't as suicidal and custom skins are easier to install (no more messing with .skins files), So I have no real complaints about my re purchase, apart from these few minor things.

    2. You can adjust the brightness of the NVG on the console in front of the stick, as well as the brightness of the gauges and so on. It will be blurry with everything on full brightness :P

    3. The training files are available http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612

There will be someone more adequate to answer your other questions.

  5. problem is i dl'd DCS World and tried launching a mission where there was literally nothing but me in an SU25 and my pc froze and had to restart

How recent was this? I recall getting nearly 30-40fps with a mere 3gb of DDR2, 2.93ghz e7500, gtx 560 ti 1gb in DCS world before a few of the most recent patches that raised the minimum specs (I have since upgraded). I got similar frames in BS1.

    Min Specs for BS1:

Minimal system requirements: OS: Windows XP, Vista; CPU: 2 GHz; RAM: 1 GB; Graphics: 256 MB ATI or nVidia, DirectX 9 compatible; Sound card; 4 GB of free space on HDD; Copy protected, requires internet activation.

Recommended system requirements: OS: Windows Vista for launching in fullscreen mode; CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850+, AMD Phenom 9850+; RAM: 2+ GB; Graphics: 512+ MB ATI HD 2900+ or nVidia 8800+; Sound card; 4+ GB of free space on HDD; Copy protected, requires internet activation; Joystick.

Based on your PC, you should be able to run it just fine. :pilotfly:

You just need a 64-bit Windows 7 and 2 more GBs of RAM.

    Are you on 32-bit?

BS1 runs slower than BS2 actually.

It's less optimized and an old engine.

DCS runs super fast with HDR off and AA off, Mirrors off, Water low, etc.

Seriously consider getting BS2, it's on sale.

You can tweak DCSW to run on your system.

It's not your hardware. DCS requires 64-bit Win.

Getting 2GB of more RAM is not so easy, as it depends on how much the motherboard actually supports in the first place, and further, finding good DDR2 (i am assuming) RAM for a decent price(6gb usually goes for abt $100+ for such horrible RAM).
