  1. Take a look at page 229 in manual :

    4. MAGIC II P REPARATION . This button is used to trigger On or Off all MAGIC II

missiles Preparation (BIT & cooling of the seeker) and thus allowing/preventing

their use. The preparation is triggered by either powering up the aircraft, clicking on

the button or by selecting the missile related-mode on the PCA or using the HOTAS

    selector.

Switching the preparation Off is used to save the MAGIC II seeker coolant supply

(nitrogen). There is enough supply to keep the seeker heads active for 90 minutes,

after that time the seekers become warm rendering the missiles useless. The missile

will take 30 seconds before becoming fully operational.

    NOTE

Each time the preparation is reactivated (switched On) will shorten the

coolant supply by 10 minutes. Plan its use carefully.

    The button has two lights:

    P:

Short for “Prêt” (Ready). Turns on when the MAGIC IIs are ready to use.

Blinking when they are undergoing the preparation process and Dark when the

missiles are in safe mode or no missiles are onboard

    MAG:

Turns on when there are MAGIC II missiles aboard the aircraft.

  2. No.

That's a common fallacy that has infested every sim ever. “Real” is not the same as “difficult”. There's an entire concept of “fake difficulty” to highlight what a silly notion it is: I could set up a situation that is wholly unrealistic and wholly impossible. If “easy street” and “realism” were polar opposites, it would be impossible for me to make it more realistic by dialling down the impossibility even though the thing that makes it unrealistic is how it is set up to be impossible. The supposed contradiction falls apart at even the slightest shred of closer examination because of how stupidly weak it is.

In fact, one of the biggest hurdles in any simulation is to provide the ease with which some tasks are done because real life provides all kinds of extra information and cues that help the real person do something, but which are really difficult to convey in a simulation. Increased realism would make it easier; its difficulty in the simulation is actually unrealistic.

But more to the point, just because there is an “easy street” available doesn't mean that you have sacrificed any realism. You've simply offered a parallel road to travel down. There is no conflict between the two because they simply never cross. With the ability to pick and choose at your leisure, you can indeed have both. Perhaps not always at once (although, as mentioned, “real” can often mean “easier”), but both nevertheless.

Best post ever in this thread, thank you

  3. Let me be clear, DCS is the Ferrari. But a Ferrari won't save you from bad driving technique! You have to learn it! The features in a Ferrari are not cheats! They are more like safety features lol. All other sims are Prius; good gas mileage but an eye sore and drives like crap, no matter how you drive it.

Good news, Ferrari Lead Designer saw you post and decided to modify their driving wheel "manetino" for their models to come.

Let's bring some humour here  Chill out summer is coming

  4. Wearing glasses isn't something you would be put to ground in a real airforce. You don't have to have perfect vision.

In French Air Forces, no fighter pilot will be recruited without a perfect vision. Maybe we should put this restriction only to the M2000 ?

By all means these simplifications and cheats should be removed and all realistic features forced on....

That's the beauty of it, you can have YOUR perfect sim TODAY, without waiting for any ED update, force yourself to a strict self discipline.

Well, I won't reply to all the quotes that have been made on my previous comment, some of you are just overreacting about a feature they are not interested in. You have to understand that your vision of DCS is not shared by all simmers, some want full realism and some just want to have fun and some want all of this. As long as development don't interferate with all "communities", I don't see any problem for OPTIONS, really.

I love DCS because it can be as realistic as possible comparing to other sims, I played DCS for 6 years (and Flanker way before) mainly in single player (building my own scenarios) because of some elites, bought mostly all modules, but I never post about features I don't want as long as they don't disturb me in my daily use of DCS. Once again, 1000 simmers = 1000 differents opinions. Why make you think that your is better than another one ?

Will I use an easy AAR ? Probably not, but I don't care if it's added to the GAME (Yes, it's just a GAME), i barely never have to do an AAR...

Just relax mates, it's a game, nothing else :smilewink:

  5. I really don't mind, if easy AAR was an option, why not ? if it can help keeping or bringing more simmers to DCS...As long as you can play DCS at maximum realism if YOU want.

"It's a simulator !!!"...."the purity of the sim"....So we probably have to remove game mode, remove unlimited ammo, invincible pilot, each time a pilot eject twice he should be dismissed, simmers wearing glasses shouldn't be authorized, every time a plane crash you should have to rebuy the module, realistic weather should be the only option, easy radio communication should be removed, fictionnal skins shouldn't be allowed, turbulences and birds should be enabled......I can keep for a long time like this. Of course, this is bullshit :)

The wider the sanbox, the healtier it is ;). And sorry but NO, it won't take that much time to enlarge the zone where the basket consider you are connected and refuel your plane...

  6. What teams? You mean Razbam and this mod team?

If so, then it is a legal nightmare etc as someone would need to make the contracts and get all the rights and permissions etc. And at that point you would just kick the "another team" from the picture and do it all by yourself.

If there are some another team making a mod for this, then sure there is change they could cooperate but again that is problematic if there is any different mentalities and schedules in development.

Sorry, I was not referring to ED, but the Cuesta Brothers (Eric and Patrick):

    https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=266248

They have a nice single seater Rafale but no cockpit. Johnnypropeller's team have a dual seater and a nice cockpit (at least on screenshots). So 2 freeware modules and as far as I know, no lawyer involved. A collaboration would be beneficial for both teams and the whole community....but hey, that's maybe just a dream, I can't tell what's in their minds :)

If someday Razbam or any other module maker produces an ED validated Rafale, it'll be an instant buy for me.

  7. ....It says don't operate the cowls above 225 but if I close them the temp skyrockets past 260 and maxes out.
    .

As I understand and operate the thing myself, if your temperature is too hight, slow your plane under 225 IAS and open the cowl (operate), then you can go faster than 225 IAS ;). Just don't push or pull the cowl lever if you are too fast.

I may be wrong but it works for me.

  8. Try to apply some throttle when the blades start spinning, may help ;)

Manual page 124 & 128 (engine start up):

Move throttle one inch forward. Set engine RPM ~900 by moving throttle little forward.

  9. Rudder does not seem to work on the ground to taxi. I can only use differential braking to steer. Tail wheel is not locked. What I am missing?

And if necessary, you can lock it with the yellow lever next to right side of the pilot seat :smilewink:

  10. definately NOT working on my P47 ! All other trim wheels work and i feel it and see it on the control ball as well. But elevator wheel have no o nearly no effect.

Anyway, i take it as it is...... P51 all trim wheels work and have effect; but this beauty i nearly do not to trim at all.

Very strange, i have no problem to trim mine, on the 3 axis. But yes, P47 is a bit harder to trim than P51.
