just wanted to bring this to peoples attention since this seems to be an on-going problem. i posted earlier in this forum asking for help because lomac 1.12a was not loading. it would show the tab in the taskbar and play the intro sound only, and never load. so i did everything that other people with the same problem tried. including reformating my computer eventually when nothing else seemed to help. after reinstalling just the bare minimum programs, i reinstalled lomac, FC, and 1.12a patch. the game ran fine. later i installed AIM, codecs, and my printer software. then i decided to play lomac again, and it was acting up again with the same problem where it would never load. so i didnt think AIM or my printer could really be causing many problems, so i decided to uninstall my codec pack and sure enough the game came back to life. the codec pack had was ace codec pack pack 6.03 pro. does anyone know what makes lomac unable to load when these codecs are installed? what other codec packs are people using that are compatible with the game?

i figured out what was wrong. i uninstalled my codec pack and then the game ran just fine. loaded in about 15 seconds.

yesterday, i downloaded flamming cliffs and the 1.12a update. my problem first occured when i installed FC 1.12a over lomac 1.02. I started 1.12a, and a tab for lomac popped up in my taskbar, and the intro sound started playing, u know: "...set to low wire, shallow low wire..." etc. and i left it loading for 10 mins, and the game never loaded, it just kept playing the intro sound, with the tab in the taskbar, but no game on screen, just my desktop. i read in a different thread that FC should not be installed over 1.02, so i uninstalled everything. then i reinstalled lomac 1.0 without the 1.02 update. then i installed FC and the 1.12a update. started it, and same problem. i rolled back to 1.1, just FC. and the game still wouldnt start up, same problem where it just plays the sound, and there is a tab in the taskbar but no game, just staring at my desktop. has this happened to anyone else?
