  1. I can't even begin to tell ya'll how amazing it is to see this thing fly in person. First of all it sounds and looks wicked, but the whole high speed pass with a transition to hover is incredible!

  2. I suppose it's a training shutter which make the flight cadet fly by his

    skills.

Yup, we use them too. We call them "the bag" and they freakin suck. It's not specifically for night training, but I guess that falls under the scope of instrument flying. It takes away all visual references which makes up most of your bodies ability to judge motion and which way is up. When you fly under that thing, you get all sorts of illusions that make you feel like you are turning or pitching up, but you are really not. That way when the weather sucks and you are really in the goo, you will know to trust your instruments and not your body! Oh, and flying purely on the instruments is a pain in the ass and a tough skill to master so you wanna be good at it when the weather sucks.

  3. The B-1 didn't crash, it had a ground emergency. We lose jets every once in a while throughtout the A.F., it is an inherently dangerous job (obviously). Some of the jets are really showing their age; thankfully we have good a maintenance program to keep em running. Some of the 38's I fly are 1961 tails! They are almost as old as my dad lol. Anyways, everyday just at Laughlin we have multiple in flight emergencies between the T-38s, T-1s, and T-6s (which are brand new by the way). So when you fly that many hours everyday, chances are something will break or go wrong!

  4. I guarantee the F-22 has a higher top speed then mach 1.8+ reguardless of what is publicised. It would be naive to believe that lie...

Exactly.... in fact, no one here knows the top speed of the F-16, F-15, etc. just to prove a point. For those who don't think the Raptor is all that and a bag of chips, well, you really are mistaken, because it is. In SO many ways ya'll can't even imagine. This goes for everything... from sensor(s), to systems, to engines, to construction to even fixing the damn thing. This isn't some "American propoganda," and I know I can't say much, but you don't want to mess with it. I know I am going to catch crap for this, but there is nothing the Russians, Brits, or anyone else has that can rival it, and a clear indication of that is that we are not interested in selling it. Oh, and much can be said of the F-35 also. That is one truly amazing aircraft to boot.

  5. Wow I think we've hit an all-time low. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but who the F@($ cares about this shit anymore. The dude has accomplished exactly what he wanted to: start crap with people and get their panties in a wad. No one here is a real flighter pilot. Common sense and declass info aside, no one has access to the real missile data. Some of ya'll obviously have a good idea of what ya'll are talking about, but look this dude isn't worth the effort. On the flip side, you guys are starting to sound rediculous arguing with him. I know I'm laughing at everyone at this point, and if I brought some of the other guys from my REAL fighter squadron in here, they would be laughing their asses off at all of ya'll arguing. At this point, this thread which was a plea for help on a completely unrelated topic is ruined. Why the hell doesn't everyone just shut the hell up, boot up LockOn, and go play the dang GAME. Yes, I said it, have fun playing the GAME!!! That is what we are here to do right? Enjoy the thrill of simulated flight?

  6. just read the articles:chair: : Launch should be March, Availability one month later (Just in Time for Black Shark)

Yeah yeah I know i did! I've read a lot of articles but ever sing one seemed to give a different date.

As far as the foot long card, that apparently is the OEM version for system builders and I am guessing serious useres (like CGI renderers?) The retail version which I am assuming is for us is only 9"

  7. Hey AJ when I took my jet engine design class we used a book called Jane's All the Worlds Engines (i think that is what it was called). It has a WEALTH of very detailed information on every jet ever made (I'm not joking). It has pictures and specs, and I would trust it over any o ther source. It is a huge volume and they put out a new one every year. A large local library might have a copy, but your best bet would be a university library that has an engineering department. You might be able to visit Jane's online and get info from there ( htink it costs money though). You might find some white papers online that you can buy too... I think there is a website that has a collection of declass Pentagon papers you can buy. But honestly I would start with the Janes over anyhting else.... Hope this helps...
