  1. Cold and Dark with an unaligned INS...

Thanks I really appreciate the detail and all the work you have been putting into the INS. :)

  2. Hey Zeus could you quickly elaborate of the differences in performance differences of the different alignment classes?

Does a longer alignment reduce the amount of drift? and/or affect the accuracy of your initial positions?

  3. yesterday I got killed online in PvP battle by F-15C with AIM-120C. I saw him scanning me from long distance - RWR indicated his TWS mode on me. But it remained the same till the Fox3 hit me. I was pretty much surprised cause in single-player mode RWR alarm sounds different when F-16s switches from TWS to STT and when they launch Fox3.

Also in multiplayer Su-27's switch from TWS to STT is audible and indication changes.

The missile may have pitbull at an angle that was outside your RWR coverage. Without a track we are just guessing.

  4. Hey I am not sure if it is best to mention it here or that this is something that ED needs to fix but I have noticed that the leading edge slats are extended on AI Mirage 2000C aircraft when the landing gear is down.

Obviously this is a pretty minor aesthetic issue but I thought I might mention it so that someone can look into when there is time/resources.

  5. silentconvo, agreed in general.

Just one point: CW is not used on all the fighters we have.

So it's not "only" the CW that RWR should be able to detect; that would be "too easy" ;)

(I'm speaking about the missile guidance phase, of course)

I'm not going to deny I was doing a bit of radar handwaving.

My point is of course we don't know how many of these systems work and we have no chance of ever finding out but we can make an educated guess as to how they are likely to function.

  6. The real problem will probably be and always be that the exact capabilities of the RWR of any remotely modern aircraft is going to be secret. Not only that but the exact way airborne radars behave when they are providing illumination for a SARH missile.

Can RWR x detect a SARH launch using radar y? what about radar z? Its a mystery, I'm sure somewhere someone might know the answer but if there is they can't talk about it ;)

I think in terms of realistic simulation it would be safe to assume in general the RWR system in the M2000C-5 can detect the CW illumination that indicates a SARH missile launch from any of the radars used in the game right now unless there is some strong evidence to show that it cannot. That's my two cents anyway.

  7. Sorry if I missed the answer before but for the bomb salvo will the first bomb land on the pipper or will the salvo centre over the pipper like the A-10C?

  8. Multiple bomb release logic has been updated.

Now you can set a release interval, in tens of meters (0, 10, 20, 50, etc), for the following bombs: MK-82, MK-82S and Belougas.

With a release interval you can "walk" the bombs towards a target with a single trigger press.

Multiple release and release interval do not apply to GBU12, GBU16, GBU24 and BAP-100.

Does the bomb Salvo start at target or centre on it?

  9. Thank you for that Prowler! :notworthy:

...The MiG-21 bis we have from Leatherneck is a 1980s fighter, a good 10 years after the last Shahak was retired from service.

    Salute!

The MiG-21Bis is actually an early 70s aircraft. 1972 to be precise.

The CJ will be very challenging, as far as I know it had some issues that were only partially solved: flameout due to gun gas ingestion, radar so poor that the Israeli used it in locked position like a gunnery radar, unreliable radar guided missiles.

Also it carried only one R530 and 2 sidewinders, most of its kills were done with guns.

So... Lots of fun :D :D

Where there ANY reliable radar guided missile in the 60s? :P

  10. If you apply some early pitch up with your takeoff it will dampen the drift people are getting. It will work even with a pretty decent crosswind. I have found the same for landings, the longer you can keep your nosewheel off the ground the easier it will be.

  11. Hrm ... I wonder if these differen modes of jamming in DCS is a new(ish) feature of DCS:W. Consistency is good, but if that means that we will always have to resort to the bare minimum of options ... dunno, I don't really like that idea.

Which other aircraft actually make use of that "fake returns"-jamming flag?

I think having a bit more depth in the electronic warfare would be great but the way things work right now it might be better if for the time being things are more consistent. If some people like the false targets when they are being jammed then perhaps it can be one of the special options available in the Mirage 2000 specific settings. If the ECM mechanics in DCS become more sophisticated in the future this could be changed but for the time being it might be needlessly confusing for people who are trying to learn how to operate radar.

  12. Just to be crystal clear here, there are no plans to create a south atlantic map for the falklands/malvinas conflict. At least not in the foreseeable future.

Currently we do not have such abilities.

I think most people already realised that but we like to dream! :D

  13. The mirage III such a classic. I like the Mirage 2000C module but this would be fantastic. I was just looking at one the other day in a museum ( IIIO(F) converted to a (IIIO(A) ) and secretly hoping someone would do a module for it!

  14. I know the manual is very much a work in progress but I am not quite the aviation buff that some people are and I was wondering if anyone on the forums knew the operational limitations of Mirage. I would be grateful for other information like best speed/angle of climb and efficient cruise speed and so on. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out. :)

  15. You beat me too it! I was about to say the same thing. I have been somewhat wary of buying into betas recently but with all the hard work that is going into sorting out the module I might just make an exception.
