  1. Sorry for the long delay in the reply. I am curious as to why the automated shut down sequence doesn't result in a clean state. I was under the impression that the auto shut down would fix up any of my messes up, so that I can try to restart the bird manually or via the auto start up sequence.

  2. So I got the hang of starting up the heli, but I have a problem with shutdown and restart. When everything is up and running, I shut down the engines by using the red levers on the roof and then start to shut down things in the reverse order that I switched them on. Then, I try to restart the thing, and I can never get the APU to startup again. I even use the cheat to perform the scripted shut down and start. Even the scripted shutdown/restart cannot spool up the APU. I am curious on what I am missing.

  3. Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to enable rudder trim just like in KA-50. I am using a FFB joystick and using non-FFB pedals. In KA-50, the trim will force the stick to stay in the current positions, while the rudder position will be just remembered as the pedals return to center. In Mi-8, I have the same stick behavior as in KA-50, but the rudder trim doesn't work. When I press trim, the rudder positions returns to center as the physical pedals return to center. Is there an option to make the rudder trim work just like in KA-50?

    Thanks

  4. Long range SAM systems are way out of scope of CA, at least for now. It's no small feat that short range systems became player controllable.

I am not talking about things like S-300 or the patriot. There are one or two player SAMs in the game (don't recall their names right now), which have a radar but require the player to visually locate the target before a lock can be acquired.

Edit: Tor 9A331 is listed as a short to medium range SAM.

This thing has a radar and can hit things 12km away.

  5. Having the same issue. On my system it's only installing the BS2 module that slows everything down. Is your BS2 module the upgrade from BS1 ?

Yes, my BS2 is an upgrade from BS1. However, I thought that it was irrelevant in DCS world as it was only needed for the first time activation. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the Starcrap DRM is the root of the problem here.

  6. So if I fly Convoy hunt using regular autopilot channels w/o Flight Director. So I use the trim button to trim bank and elevator. However, do I also need to use the trim button when using the rudder? Say I use the rudder to move a few degrees to the left/right. If I let go of the rudder, then the stupid thing starts going to the original position. If I hit the trim and then it sticks with that heading. Is this the way the rudder is meant to be used?

  7. Flying this thing is cake, if you have ever flown a collective pitch R/C heli. The autopilot modes give me a headache, especially, the heading hold. When the heli is trimmed, does the computer remember that heading and return back to it irregardless of further rudder input? On an R/C heli, the heading hold gyro will hold the heading until further rudder input to set a new heading. In BS, it seems that you have to retrim every time to set a new heading.

  8. Did anybody make the Cachya's virtual joystick work in windows 7 x64? When I try to enable the joystick, a dialog box opens and prompts for hid.dll and vhidmini.sys. I point to the right locations, but the joystick never installs and obviously does not work.

  9. How do you manage to kill a Hawk site with Vikhrs?

If the terrain has a few hills and buildings I just fly super low dispensing chaff until I get into range. Nicely enough, if you lock on with the antiradiation system and then engage Shkval and then disengage the antiradiation radar, your Shkval will be locked onto the radar. Then it is a question of not smashing into the ground or not receiving a SAM in the lap until you get in range.

Edit: I believe in flanker 1.5 manual this was one of the apporaches to kill a SAM. fly low, pop up, shoot whatever you have and pray it hits.

  10. Vipers post #3 is a perfect description of the procedure i use.

Dont get nervous by the enemy Missilie Launch, you have plenty of time for launching your own missile. The Patriot wont reach you if you break away immediately, just dont slam into the ground :)

Well in that particular mission evading the missles is a cake walk even w/o the ECM. The main issue is the SAM site taking out the K-58s, as then there is not much that can be done to destroy both Patriot and Hawk sites before the Tu-24s arrive for a runway strike. I'll try for the very short time gap between the launches and maybe will try to hit the rudder or the elevator to separate the missles a bit.
