Thanks for all of the replies, I will check all of this out.

How do I use this Mutliplayer mode. I mostly fly the P-51. I try a bunch of different threads, and one says OK. Its a racing game. I have to fly for half an hour to get to the start point, and my plane craps out long before I get there. Is there a tutorial for this? I'd like to race/dogfight. How do you do this? I've never played online games.:helpsmilie:

Any takers? I still don't know how to modify this myself...

Fuerza Area Guatemalteca Skin Request
Delta6Actual76 replied to Delta6Actual76's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I like the way you think SFC Tako! That would also be good, but they slugged it out with Honduras. Why the hell not, have all three. That would make for an interesting campaign, The Football War of 1969 (Soccer War, 100 Hour War.) -
I don't know if this is a forum faux pas or not, but I would like to request a mid-60's Guatemalan Air Force skin from someone who knows how to do this stuff. I am not a skinner by any stretch of the imagination. But since this game crosses a lot of time boundaries, I think it would be cool to see some late service Mustangs available for use. I'm the guy that brought up the tailwheel thing too. I love all this discussion here, lot of love for the Mustang!!

Perhaps I could have been a little more clear. This was a retraction issue only. Basically made into a non-retractable tailwheel. Whether it was steerable or not was not an issue. Otherwise you'd have to take off on railroad tracks! I was hoping there was a way to model a "beater" Mustang in service way past its prime as shown by the attached photograph (note the Mustangs in service with Hueys!)
-
From my experience the fail safe way to go is to cycle through mixture settings (starting in idle-cutoff) until the engine starts. So, prime for about 5 seconds, and hold start. When the engine starts to catch, go to auto-rich. If it doesn't start, cycle to next setting and next and next until it is running on auto-rich.

I have always been interested in post-war mustangs. I have noticed that much older/heavily-used aircraft have fixed tailwheels. It turns out, it was a common practice to remove the tailwheel doors and fix the tailwheel down as a simple fix for retraction problems. I was wondering if this would be possible to model. I have not messed around with the program files for this game and don't know if this is something simple or hugely complex.

Thanks for the answers. It does show up as a flyable aircraft.

I got a new update to the game tonight, and it is a CASA C-101. However, the game crashes when I try to fly it.:helpsmilie:

Create Fast Mission with no wingman.
Delta6Actual76 replied to Delta6Actual76's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Thank you! -
I was wondering how to create a fast mission with no wingman. Sometimes I would like to fly around alone. I like to fly the P-51 and would like to NOT have a wingman start up and rev his engine at like 5 grand while I'm trying to start my mustang. I like the sounds

Figured it out thanks!!

I have downloaded some pretty nice skins here, but some are .rar files. I can't figure out how to open these ones. I have 7zip to open .zip files. What should I use to open .rar files, or how do I open them?
-
Perhaps I have missed the thread, but how do I open .RAR files? I have 7zip downloaded to open up .zip files. It seems that some other cool skins (ie P-51 Skins) are .RAR files. I have yet to figure out how to open these. What is everyone else using to open these types of files?

@jcomm, I shot up a Russian base with a German airplane. I doubt I'll face a court-martial, if anything I'll be presented the Iron Cross!! Also I'll look into posting that video.
-
Saints be praised, I did it! I took off (poorly at best) and landed (also not so good) and taxied to the ramp and shut down in mostly one piece. Also played with the guns, strafed my own base and blew up a fire truck. I would like all of you to see, so how do I post a video. I saved this mission.

Here is a super dumb question. The Auto pitch switch: I'm assuming manual is down and auto is up? It's not marked one way or the other. Another thing, how do I know how many degrees the flaps are set at? Is there some sort of visual marker? By the way, I appreciate all of the advice I have received from everyone. I'm not giving up!

How do I do this?
-
OK, I have tried and tried and tried. I have the auto rudder and takeoff assistance off. Prop automation on. Full nose down trim. Some right rudder. Some nose down and right aileron. RPM not exceeding 2500. 20 degrees flaps to no flaps. The aircraft tracks fairly nicely down the runway. The tail comes up. Wheels leave the ground. AIRCRAFT FLIPS INVERTED IN LESS THAN A SECOND AND CRASHES. I'm not a professional pilot (especially not an ME-109 pilot) nor an aeronautical engineer, but this HAS to be impossible. IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, WHAT THE F#@$ AM I DOING WRONG? Now might be a good time to ask how to post a video of a takeoff. I know how to save a track, how do I post it here?
-
@ nick10, I did set the prop pitch to automated. I just don't understand how a plane can flip inverted on takeoff, almost instantly.

Thanks for the advice guys! I was wondering, what kind of controller do you guys use. I have an old logitech extreme 3d pro. No rudder pedals or anything. Shouldl I upgrade?
