Hey guys, here is a quick tip for anyone trying to run dcs world (open beta) to host a multiplayer server in a virtual environment.
As you know there are 2 separate applications dcs world and dcs world server. I could not get dcs server to run in my virtual environment (esxi/vsphere host). Apllication starts and then stops responding.
What I did:
I removed dcs server and installed dcs world open beta. Created a shortcut on the desktop as follows:
C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe"
Once created i right clicked on the shortcut and went to properties. In the "target field i added:
" --server --norender --webgui" to the end of the line so it looks like this:
"C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" --server --norender --webgui
Lastly I created a shortcut on the desktop to the web gui
"C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\WebGUI\index.html"
opened ports 10308 (for public) and ports 8088 (for local management) (tcp and udp) in local windows firewall and forwarded port 10308 on my router.
...and thats it, it worked
