  1. Hello,

I just got the attached crash when I was strafing a ground target. I just got time to receive Comms the target was destroyed then DCS World crashed.

    Hope it could help.

DCW world updated to last available offcial version.

  2. Analog is also susceptible to em field noise from electric devices which can cause picture distortions resembling but not limited to: static noise, wavy lines, wavy / smeared images, streakong shadows, rainbows, discoloration, fuzziness.

    True!

But we must expect field noise would cause troubles with all programs, not just and only with DCS World. Instead I was getting troubles only with DCS World, while with other games graphic was perfect and uninfluenced by using application controlled or GPU panel settings.

For me it was interesting to find out that troubles I was living with into DCS World have been fixed switching to digital connection.

  3. In the past, with VGA connection, I was using Anisotropic Filtering x16 in GeForce setting panel. It was the only way to get a smooth graphic, although it was impacting over FR performance.

Yesterday, while using HDMI connection I tried changing Anisotropic Filtering to application controlled, getting a boost to FR without any change in graphic quality.

Resolution is 1920x1080 on a 23'' Packard Bell. Avarage FR is running close to 60 fps (it's my monitor Refresh Rate value), dropping to 40 fps at critical times.... getting a bit of stuttering only when using cluster bombs!

  4. Hello,

I noticed an improvement in DCS World graphic after I changed my Monitor-GPU connection from VGA to HDMI.

It seems like, without any change to DCS World setting and GPU setting panel, moving to HDMI produced a more smooth graphic without any annoying artefact I experienced in the past.

I please users who has a chance to experiment a HDMI connection to try it and possibly confirm my findings.

  5. Set Anisoptropic and Antialiasing to Application Controlled...

    I'm using Application Controlled Antialiasing.

As regard Anisoptropic Filtering I'm getting some graphic corruption - nothing but occasional trembling, orizontal lines- when setting as Application Controlled. I'm getting a more smooth and stable graphin when setting AT x16 in GeForce panel.

  6. Few words about GPU upgrading.......

I noticed DCS World graphic smoothness is largely influenced by Anisotropic Filtering (AF).

It's worth to remember that DCS World setting does not allow changes to AF level and it must be worked through GPU Setting Panel.

That said it's clear that improving GPU you can try higher AF setting levels.

After GPU upgrade I could set AF to 16x (max level in GeForce Panel). That gives a smooth pictures with DCS World.

  7. Hello,

I recently upgraded my rig to:

    ASUSZ97-PRO GAMER LGA1150 Z97

    Intel Core i7-4790k 4.0/4.4G, 8MB 5GT/S

    4 x DDR3 DIMM 8GB 1866MHz Corsair (32GB Overall)

    Samsung MZ-75E500B SSD850 EVO (Read 540MB/S-Write 520MB/S), 500GB SATA3

    EVGA GeForce GTX 970 GPU 4GB GDDR5

Creative SB Xtreme Fidelity X-Fi Platinum

    ATX 750W COOLER MASTER

    HOTAS Warthog Thrustmaster

    OS: Win7 Prof 64 Bit

    Monitor Res. 1920x1080

It was a two steps upgrade.

At first I updraded my GPU, HD and RAM (to 24GB). That did not provide a great improvement of FR and overal game performance.

In a second time I upgraded MB, CPU and RAM (to 32GB). That produced a good boost in DCS World performance with FR close to 60 fps, dropping to around 40-30 fps at critical times.

With my second upgrade, but improving all hardware components I could optimize SSD reading/writing exchange and move to a clean OS installation.

Now, it seems clear CPU till has the greatest impact over DCS World performance. Improving HD rigs with SSD reduces missions upload times and could fix microstuttering episodes.

I have till to experiment with critical aspects of the game related to some known problems as the impact of cluster bombs.

  8. DCS enviroment works at best with modern era jets: for example you have modern era tanks, vehicles and bulding in the game.

FC3 will give more planes to pilot, an easy learning curve, and a lot of fun. If you played FC past edition you'll get that with FC3 but nothing more.

Single plane modules will give you a very complex game and you'll spent a lot of time on learning it. I'm getting a lot of fun from it too!

If you have a budget allowing you to go after more than 1 module I suggerst:

    FC3 (to get more jets you'll quickly enjoy);

BS2 (to get a chopper and a complex module to go after)

A-10C (to get a complex and challenging module to go after)

CA (to enter the ground armor warfare point of view witha mess of options).

  9. Hello,

Need some tips with Create Fast Mission tool.

At moment I'm Flying A-10C and I'm using Create Fast Mission to quicky generate missions.

Is there any way to change the default payload for mission and the type of mission. I noticed Create Fast Mission generate only CAS and the payload is always a standard one.

    Thanks in advance

  10. Hello,

I got a new crash while playing a mission with A-10c.

Mission and crash files are attached down here.

Guess I have grab the reason of crash.

    1. JTAC assigned me a target although no targets were present on the map. I can suppose so because of no labels were marking presence of targets.

    2. I accepted JTAC target, locked the point (SPI) and manouvered to engage target.

    3. I was unable to locate presence of targets: no labels marking their position.

    4. When I was till exploring supposed target area I got an abort warning from JTAC, followed by a micro-pauce in game, them DCS crashed.

  11. Hello,

I'm considering an upgrade of my rig.

I already installed a GTX970 and augmented my RAM to 24GB.

I'm looking to upgrade the CPU core and consequentely to change the MB.

May you suggest a CPU that could give good performances considering also the incoming upgrade of DCS World to Ver 2?

    Thanks in advance

  12. In last days I tried a lot of different settings working over DCS's internal game option page and GPU control panel.

It seems like most of times setting changes do not provide improvement in fps.

Last evening I noticed a clear improvement in fps starting a new session after changes I went after the day before. What I'm saying is that I changed some settings in the previous session, without any immediate improvement in fps; then I turned off my rig. In the next session, without any new change in setting, I got a good improvement in fps. That moves me to think it's useful to reboot you rig after changing more paramenters in DCS setting page or in GPU control panel.

  13. NVidia users should check to make sure multi monitor option isnt set in the nvidia CP,

I believe something has changed and it is now set.to multi monitor by default.

Both AMD abd Nvidia users should also have dcs exe profiles set to application controlled for most stuff, overwriting DCS's internal settings have issues.

Also note your location on the map when the FPS hit happens abd create a mission with just your plane and fly it, if your fps is fine in a mission by yourself in the same spot its the AI objects is fine then its something along the lines of AI objects Objects count or CPU.

OK about the multi monitor setting option, but I guess it is second nature to give a look at GPU setting panel anytime you update it.

I agree DCS's internal settings produce better performance than managing same settings by GPU control panel but it's true that DCS does not provide anisotropic filtering and users must enable it by GPU setting panel. So you have a mix of paramets controlled by GPU control panel and DCS's internal setting page.

  14. My Specs:

    Win7 Prof 64 Bit; i7 930 2.80GHz CPU; GeForce GTX 970 GPU; 3 x DDR3 DIMM 8GB 1866MHz Corsair (24GB Overall); ASUS P6Td Deluxe MB; HOTAS Warthog Thrustmaster; Packard Bell Maestro 230 LED HD Res 1920x1080
