  1. Mission designer can take care of balance if he wants, by allowing certain weapons or not, by choosing how many Eurofighter slots are in the mission, by forcing the Eurofighter side to be outnumbered... There are endless possibilities there, and none of them require nerfing the module, which would affect everyone, including the many players who don't do airquake or even MP at all. Give us the most capable and modern aircraft possible, I say.

  2. This is what I think was happening the other day when I was stating that they were missing or pursuing other targets. I think that's a legitimate bug that needs discussion instead of this thread.

One day last week I spent all afternoon testing the LD-10 against various targets, because I thought it was bugged, I was shooting 4 LDs at a Buk (Sa-11) battery and not killing anything. Turns out once Buk locks you, if you shoot in SP mode the LD goes for the fire control radar, which is in the TELAR. In DCS it must be tougher than the search radar vehicle, and not a guaranteed kill. Individual Buk launchers will keep engaging you even if the search radar dies, and I seem to recall they are capable of doing this IRL.

Again, this is a DCS problem, damage model for ground vehicles is super simple. I suppose a TELAR carrying several big ass missiles on top of it should blow up pretty good even with a near-miss, but in DCS unless there's a direct hit it'll get maybe 10% damage and keep on engaging you as if nothing ever happened.

Other targets, like SA-2 sites, are almost guaranteed kills because the radar is a big soft target and once the Fan Song dies the sam site can't shoot you anymore.

But anyway, the unrealistic magic bullet argument I see here, doesn't match my ingame experience. LD-10 doesn't always kill the target even when it should, particularly if the radar happens to be in a light armored vehicle like SA-11, Tor or Tunguska. It's obviously hard to intercept because it's small and very fast, much faster than other AG weapons in DCS, but that's how it is in real life.

  3. IADs AI is pretty much required for a credible dynamic campaign, so I hope it's on EDs radar.

Regarding LD-10, same thing as happened with SD-10. No, Deka doesn't need to nerf the LD. If HARM is underperforming (I don't know that it is), ED would have to fix it. Or add the AARGM, which would be more contemporary to LD-10. Why wouldn't anyone expect a 2010s missile to outperform a 1980s one is beyond me.

  4. I'm fine with the maps we have, but a full-fidelity F-22, J-20, and Su-57 to go along with the Typhoon would be mighty kickass

Even AI would be great, some fitting opponents for the Typhoon. Scandinavia map would be awesome, retro vibes from EF2000 and also great for the Viggen.

  5. Such things don't happen due to game balance reasons, "to compare with" other modules. They happen if there's enough information available, the manufacturer/operating airforce/government allows it, and the developer considers the effort is economically viable.

We don't even know which tranche and block of Typhoon we're getting yet. If it's an early one, the current JF-17 is a good match, in BVR. In dogfight the Typhoon is going to be superior to anything, including hypothetical JF17 block 3.

  6. Warships are tough. On May 17th 1987, USS Stark FFG-31 was hit by 2 Exocet missiles, fired by an iraqi Mirage F1. 31 sailors were killed, the ship was on fire and listing, but it didn't sink. It sailed to Bahrain, and after temporary repairs it sailed under her own power back to the USA. Eventually it was completely repaired and returned to service.

You can't hope to sink destroyers and cruisers, at least twice the size of that Oliver Hazard Perry class FFG, flying a solo mission on a light jet with 2 missiles. Even if the ships don't defend themselves, at most you can hope for a mission kill, cause enough damage to take the ship out of the fight, I don't know if DCS currently simulates this.

  7. Second one is no bug. When you hit missile type selection button in AG master mode, you're not actually switching weapons, you're switching between 6 different independent AG profiles.

You set up BRM with EFUZE in profile 1, switch to LD-10 in profile 2, then you switch again and you go to profile 3. Because you've only setup the fuze in profile 1, you either need to setup all of them, or keep switching until you go back to profile 1 again.

  8. How do tankers work in Blue Flag? I was flying on the Persion Gulf server the other day and wanted to use the REDFOR tanker over Lar, but I didn't know how. The briefing only lists the general location of the Tanker (Lar in tht case) and a comms frequency, but when I opened the tanker comms menu I found several tankers that all had identical callsigns. How am I supposed to know which one is which? And then, how am I supposed to find him as there is no TACAN data listed anywhere?

Same problem here, BF Persian Gulf needs a manual, or at the very least a guide with radio freq, TACAN, etc.

  9. I had a lot of trouble with spotting too, for quite a long time. I stopped playing DCS altogether because of it. I just couldn't spot any ground targets or aircraft until they started shooting at me.

Ended up solving it with brute force, 1440p 32 inch display mounted on an adjustable arm so I can bring it close to my face for flying.

That was quite an expensive upgrade and not an option for everyone, and I'm astounded that this problem hasn't been solved yet after so long. The effect on gameplay is dramatic, those affected will stop playing because you just can't fight what you can't see!

  10. DCS World Stable 2.5.2.19682 and unable to use AGM-65Gs in the AV-8B due to a sensor issue.

After the AGMs are warmed up and I uncage the seeker, pressing my mapped Sensor Select FWD: INS, IRMV/EOMV button never changes the SOI from INS to IRMV.

    Bugged again?

Update ( 7/29/18 ): Further tested and it seems to work if the Stores Page is on the Left MFCD to start. Once you've got IRMV selected as SOI, it will let you swap it over to the Right MFCD. If SOI is then changed to INS, you won't be able to get IRMV back on the Right MFCD (unless you start over on the Left again). So it's best to just use the AGM-65Gs on the Left MFCD currently.

Confirmed, can't switch to IRMV in the right MFCD, left works fine.

  11. My force sensor arrived today. Installation was very easy and fast, then it's calibrate, launch DCS and feel the difference. Compared to the stock slew, this is almost like mind control, you caress the sensor and the Harrier TGP moves so slow and smooth. Strong press and you get fast and precise movement for rapidly switching targets. Terrific, this is what the WH slew should've been like in the first place.

Totally worth it, thanks a lot, another satisfied customer!

  12. Fix for DCS World 1.5.8 and 2.2.0

DCS World 1.5.8 and 2.2.0 have changed the way some LUA addons are working. This is why telemetry export does not work well with these versions. Here is how to fix the issue while waiting for the fix in Tacview 1.7.0:

Go in the \Saved Games\DCS.*\Scripts\ folder which correspond to your edition of DCS World

    Create a subfolder \Saved Games\DCS.*\Scripts\Hooks\

    Move \Saved Games\DCS.*\Scripts\TacviewGameGUI.lua in \Saved Games\DCS.*\Scripts\Hooks\

This fix will be integrated in Tacview 1.7.0

That did the trick for me, using 2.2. Thanks!

  13. Same here, I preordered the T-50 base, it was great as received. When I disassembled it to try the extra cams and springs I was totally satisfied with the design, build quality and finish. I had the bad cams too, but it only took an email with a few photos to have a replacement set sent free of charge.

The T-50 mechanism is quite rugged and should easily outlast every other joystick I've ever had. The greasy ball Warthog base can't even compare.

  14. A small amount of stiction when applying light pressure with one digit is nothing to panic about. I didn't even notice this until I went looking for it. I won't be stripping down my unit to 'fix' this anytime soon. The only reason I'm putting on an extension is to get the stick in the right position within the VR cockpit.

You know what's something to panic about? Spending +200 € on a high end joystick, and finding out you just bought a very good metal A-10C grip connected to a pair of greased plastic balls instead of a proper gimbal. If yours works all right that's great, you got lucky, but the basic design is abysmal nevertheless.

When I bought my Warthog there weren't many other options, but right now? The VKB and Virpil offerings aren't that much more expensive, you get a proper gimbal where both axis are completely independent, adjustable spring tension, replaceable cams and springs for fine tuning, compatible with the Warthog grip if you have it... Going for one of those instead is a no brainer.

  15. I've flown rsvnpilot's Mig-31BM flyable mod at 1800 kts over the NTTR. That plane won't go any faster, but I experienced no crashes, no performance problems whatsoever. Which airplane are you modding?

  16. I have mixed feelings about my Warthog, same as Cyph3r above. The grip is awesome, the throttle is great except for the slew control, but the joystick gimbal...

I really regret not having informed me properly about the gimbal mechanism before buying it, I only did that after I noticed the problems. I haven't tried greasing it yet, maybe it'll help, but for the price tag I didn't expect a greased plastic ball gimbal.

I'm getting a VKB as soon as possible, and use it with the Warthog grip and throttle. Maybe someone will want to buy a warthog gimbal for spare parts.
