Married for a year now and have a son (almost 1)
I cant remember the arguments over games i played and still play.
It all started out with Eve online. Thats not a game, its a life...
I tried to explain the game to here. The politics involved, the thrill of hunting some one and killing him.
The game did'nt allow to logoff during combat or missions. So, when you hunt someone for a hour and you got him, that is not a good time to talk to me about all kinds of stuff. She only saw a little spaceship, controlled through the mouse.
Then came FS2004 / FSX. Loved to fly online with IVAO.
Made it to captain (took the exam). Tried to explain that it was fun. (sitting for 4 to 6 hours behind the desk watching the autopilot fly)
Then came my son, so i dropped that all, cant explain him that i'm flying online, on finals with a 744 behind me.
Now, i play BS and Warhammer Online, but dropping warhammer.
Se she's me sitting behind my computer, and only looks and smiles. She knows the game can be paused (if the keybord works ;) ). And its just a helicopter.
Marriage is fun.... sometimes.
Think the best manner is to explain that this is your hobby, this is wat you like to do. Explain that you rather do this that hang out in the bar every friday and saterday night, getting drunk.
Tell her that this is what you do for fun and relaxation, like she does in a soap t.v. show.
And explain that, sometimes you get a litle frustrated because you get killed.
And, dont forget her!
Give her some special time. Do fun stuff (movies, dinner)
In this way, you keep the cosmic balance A ok.
