  1. This subject may have been touched on before, but when I was looking for info on this forum I only saw a lot of info on the higher level flight sticks with separate software packages. I am just posting my experiences from this week using only a mid range flight stick and how I got it to work great in BS. Like a large number of college students who like flight sims, I didn't have the money to purchase a awesome flight stick and rudder combo so I was stuck with what I had on hand. A 3 year old Cyborg Evo USB. Its a mid range stick that has enough features you can use it adequately with most flight simulators. When I bought BS last week I was having the hardest time controlling the Ka-50 with this stick. Any time I took control after watching the training scripts I was fighting for control of the helicopter. I would try keep the helicopter going straight but it would move all over the place just from me trying to barely provide any input. I could not figure out how the trainer in the trainer scripts could maintain such precise control. I thought maybe it was me, but in other flight sims I did just fine. I was just about to can the Cyborg Evo out of frustration until I remembered with the Saitek Cyborg drivers you can set the dead band sliders. The problem with the Cybrog Evo is that its not good at precision. With a helicopter you need a lot more precise control with the twist axis and cyclic controls then with an airplane. The spring used to return the Cyborg Evo back to its neutral position is sloppy and the stick can be oversensitive to a user just placing their hand on the stick. After I set my dead band sliders to the positions shown below it was a world of difference. I can now easily steer the helicopter. So if you have a lower end stick and having problems try setting you dead band range out a lot farther then you would normally with a regular flight sim. It made a world of difference with BS for me.
