This was my first thought as well. I dislike the plastic gimble when it comes to tighten and untighten the nut of the stick. Having a detailed look at the videos the upper edge of the thread shows a white surface. So it could be aluminum which is painted black.

Edit: The nut isn´t the worst, extensions are, because tighten them brings more force on the thread.

Thanks for investigating this for me. I got one on order was going to put a Virpil on mine but this will do.

Thrustmaster has been out of the game a while lets hope that they bring new innovation and not play catch up!

    rapid,

That is correct. I went back and uninstalled the HF8 software and SSA software for a clean install. Plugged everything in, installed ONLY the SSA software and everything worked fine.

    Manny thanks sir.

    Hi guys,

I've performed some testing with NLR HFS and SimShaker for Aviators having them both installed.

It looks like there is a conflict between NLR and SSA scripts.

If you decided to use SimShaker for Aviators with DCS and not to use NLR HFS you can resolve this conflict by slightly editing Export.lua script in C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts subfolder *.

NLR HFS inserts its line in this file to engage the script:

    local HFSlfs=require('lfs');dofile(HFSlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/HFSExport.lua')

If you comment this line out by adding -- in front of it as below:

    --local HFSlfs=require('lfs');dofile(HFSlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/HFSExport.lua')

the conflict will be resolved without NLR HFS deletion.

I recommend to edit lua scripts with Notepad++ app since Windows Notepad can damage the file structure.

If you are not fond of editing scripts you can simply replace the file with my one, which is attached.

    Hopefully this helps.

    * - C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts subfolder for DCS Open Beta branch correspondently.

    Export.lua 254 B · 2 downloads

I appreciate ALL your hard work and support =Andre=

Well, to be accurate your 3090 should have a single HDMI 2.1A port, which is enough to support what the 57" Samsung requires.

Good point  but you loose G-Sync if do not use  DP?

Still would be cool to have I wonder what the view would look like when flying.

As it stands only AMD's cards can push this beast of a monitor via DP 2.1, cannot under stand why Nvidia wont up the DP on their cards.

They should have done it on the 3000 series  and most definitely on the 4000 series.

EDIT: You know, I was looking over the specs for this monitor...it requires DP 2.1 for 'full-speed' refresh rate (240) performance at native resolution...

I'm using an Asus TUF 4090 ATM, and I also have a couple 3090s (eVGA, Asus) and a 3090Ti...all very high-end GPUs...and none of them has DP 2.1 support.  WTH kind of card would you have to have to use DisplayPort with this thing?  Yes, the cards and the monitor support HDMI 2.1, so it would still work...but all this time the standards in monitors are moving away from HDMI and toward DP.  Just look at the ports: Typically 2 or 3 DP but as time goes on, as few as a single HDMI connector.

My screen size limit was always 32" so I brought an Asus  pg32uqx. 48" would be way to big for me to use.

I have a 3090 which has a DP support of  1.49 so I wont go for it.  But I do wonder how it would look flying DCS.....maybe one day I will go for it.

@rapid Curious if you made a decision here, what it was, and how you feel about it.

Hi Sorry about the late reply.

I went with the HF8 in the end only because most people here use the  Jet Pad and seem happy with it. The HF8 is cheaper with less cables and seems to work ok we just don't get full use of the 8 motors when we use SSA, we only get the use of 6 motors but you can access all 8 motors by using  the HF8 software albeit   with less tweaking options in their software.

The U-Shaker6 would be the more premium option as the transducers react quicker than waiting for the motors to spin up like in the HF8 but after a while you don't notice it.

    Hope this helps you.

It’s possible to fly in DCS with a pad, but not easy.  FC3 aircraft would be the most viable.

Have you thought of working in a single aircraft with you flying and him in the back as a systems operator, or in say the Apache as the copilot /gunner?

    Hi,

Yes I have but he wants to fly along side me in an A-10c2.

Just wondering if there was a simplified mode he could use.

I had a quick look at Game mode but still think it could be a little complicated for him.

    Cheers

  7. Yup works fine with SSA only issue that it only uses 6 of the 8 motors as SSA wasn't made for it.

HF8 have their own software that now works with  the seat, only Issus with this is that you have very limited options in what you can address the 8 motors to.

SSA offers way more options than the  HF8 software.

  8. Hi Guys,

Just want to know if this is possible.

A friend at work would like to try flying with me only issue is he cannot use a Hotas and cannot understand all the keyboard commands required when flying the A-10c.

I said I will ask on the forum for him if it would be possible to fly using a Game Pad and Keyboard but in some form of Game mode a more simplified version of the game with a lot less input instructions from the Pilot.

I had a quick look at Game Mode but it still seems simi complicated unless I set it up wrong as never used it before.

Any recommendation to help out this chap out would be much appreciated?

    Cheers

  9. Apologies for the delay but my stupid Norton's is not allowing the full installation of the application.

Even if I disable detections it still blocks part of the installation I will give it another try later some time.

Now the HF8 options for DCS only came up once and I was able to have a quick peak but there seems to be only limited options in there I think around 6  not as much as SSA has.

I have not been able to get the options in the HF8 to appear again this maybe due to the failed installation.

Only other observation was that the motors seems to have a more powerful feel to them when you instigate  the test option they feel more powerful than when using the SSA and of

course you get access to the full 8 motors with HF8 than the 6 with SSA.

Will feed back when i give it another try.
