the FAQ says that unless you have the new HOG HOSTAS you need to use hit the keyboard combo that unlocks the throttle when you start up since it's normally locked down when the bird is cold.

I'd be surprised if ED has tested it with 3D given that it's relatively new technology and not widely used ATM. It might be useful if anyone who has downloaded it and tried it using 3D could Chime in and say if they've had any issues with it.
Oops, nm. It sounds like a few people have already tested it with the beta and found issues.

AAAARRRGGGHHH!! I deep into playing Civ 5 and even that I only have time to play a few hours on the weekend. I've been pining for this game for 6 months and now that the beta is available there is simply no time.
Never the less I probably won't be able to resist plopping down my money so at least I can start to learn how to fly the beast. Good thing the patriots are off this week so I'll have some extra time on Sunday :-D

There seemed to some sort of graphical error at minute 4:30 to 4:33 just as he checks the Right Engine. You can clearly see that there are a few reflection lines hanging in the air. I supporse these are only to be shown when the Canopy is closed. In the video the Canopy is still open....
I noticed the exact same thing when I watched the video and wondered what it was. It never occured to me it actually might be a bug. :D

How does ED manage the feature list? We use Atlassian's JIRA tool at my work and it's great for capturing customer input (customers can vote on features so the developers can get a sense of what is most important). We also use the Greenhopper plugin for Agile development. I'm not associated with Atlassian just curious if they have a formal web based way to manage the feature list instead of forum posts.
I doubt it's that complicated for them. It's probably just a group of managers and producers that get together on a regular basis and decide this feature makes sense, that feature doesn't make sense, is too difficult to program, too confusing, whatever.
It's not like they're a company producing commercial software for a number of large corporations who pay millions of dollars for that software and therefore there may be a need for sophisticated software to track what features their customers desire. Even their TBS software probably only has a few customers that even though they pay a lot of money for it, are probably so few that they can use an informal mechnisim to agree on features needed.

I wonder if part of the problem is that eyefinity can use up to 6 monitors but the lua setup maxes out at 3. If DCS allows you to setup up to 6 monitors it might alieviate a lot of the problems.

I can't imagine they'd waste an asset like an A10C to come in to strafe a couple of guys that might be shooting at you. The possibility of friendly fire in that situation would just be too great. Now maybe if there's a large group of enemy soldiers and they are threatning to overrun a position..that might be different.
But yes, having it kick up dirt like in the demo video in another thread, that would be cool. I also happen to like however how the tracers look in FC2 now.

I wonder how long it will be before someone comes out with a touch enabled LCD that could model the MFD with the buttons touch enabled along the edges. Would be incredably useful if your using windows 7.

There is an MMO which simulates Ground, Sea, and Air on a really large Map of Northern Europe but unfortunately is strictly a WWII sim.
-
Coolhnd1, the product showcased there is already "released" - to military clients. ;)
So if I put on my old Air Force uniform (with some significant alterations) can I get it? Please? Pretty Please?

What I want to know is when is DCS going to release this! I might not even stop to eat or take a crap if I was playing this.

In this screenshot I landed outside Novorossiysk after a mid-air collision and ejected afterwards to take a stroll in the area.
When I returned to my aircraft it was repaired, they even installed a brand-new canopy.
Pitty you weren't able to climb back in again and continue on..:pilotfly:

Also let people know what you did to set it up. I'm assuming you edited the graphic setup files.
-
Did you put them in their own folder (F.C 2.0) along with the .exe off the desktop? I put them in their own FC 2 folder and just ran the .exe and the rest was gravy.
???
No, but if the MD5 codes off the downloaded file don't match what's posted on the download page you know you have a corrupted file. Just finished redownloading and the hashes match now. I just finished (apparently) succesfully installing so it looks like I'm good to go!
-
*sigh* got it all downloaded, found and installed my LOMAC disk, but it turns out the two bin file's hashes don't match so it fails to install. Here I go again hoping the internet gods are kind to me this time..

Nobody needs broken DCS.
I'll second that!
As for me I only ever had Lockon, never got Flaming Cliffs so I'll have plenty of fun just playing FC2 by itself.
-
also purchased and downloading, had to use the bitorrent file as the other FTP sites kept asking me to log on to the FTP.ru server. wouldnt take my logon no mater what i did. Bitorrent is avg about 390 kbps with about 1hr 20 min left. it did hit 7hundred something a couple times.
Yeah, did that for me too. When I clicked on HTTP download it just took me to the main FC2 site. Eventually I logged in again using the login on the left hand side of the screen (I thought I had already logged in) and then it finally let me download via HTTP (I'm about half way home already so it doesn't look like the site has gotten saturated yet).
-
I logged on this morning as I do nearly every Saturday morning and as usual I just ignored the banner at the top of the forums. I read a few threads and then thought I'd check, just for the heck of it, the DCS site to see if there was any news on FC2. I clicked my way to the FC2 site and saw the notice about it's release and thought, probably just the russian version released. But No! the english version was ready for download too! :pilotfly:
I bought my copy and I'll be downloading shortly. Unfortunately it's about a 2G download so it may be awhile before it's ready. That should give me a while to hunt down where I have my Lockon disk so I can install it while I wait. I guess I'll need to start reading the manual to see what needs to happen to get this integrated with BS (do we need to wait for a BS update?) but I know what I'll be spending my time doing this today.
Now I'll have real motivation to get BS installed on my new computer too The new computer is a monster, includes i7 CPU and my first SSD.

I think that cos its development is really slow. I saw news from 2008 "coming soon" ect and nothing ;]
Yeah, I know what you mean. I check the Teamspeak news site occasionally and for like a couple of years there was almost no change at all on the site. I had actually just figured they simply stopped development on it.
-
There will be faster A-10 than this TS :P
Really? Well it is in Beta so one can only hope..
-
I've always had issues with padlocking myself. I find I tend to get disoriented pretty quickly such that you may think you're flying straight and level when in fact your flying 90 degrees straight into the ground.
-
Hopefully ingame coms will be included in later releases. I guess at least with multicrewed aircraft like the Hind and Apache this will be a crucial feature.
Hey, did you notice that teamspeak 3 will now include an SDK? Might be worth ED taking a look at that so they could include it in some future version of the game. That way you could also tie it the comms channel you're listening to in-game. Now that would be awesome.
-
No, I don't mean stalling the engine.
EDIT:
this should explain what I mean
this is what I ask
- does A-10 engines surge on rare occasions like on jet airliner? (since they share common engine design)
Interesting video. I love how he says at one point "...and this can cause you to spill your coffee...". At another point he says this condition can't be simulated in the simulators. I'm not sure what he means exactly by that. Maybe that the circumstances that cause this are somewhat random?
-
Is it possible they may be close to actually releasing the A-10 module? After all they released Black Shark back in what, October? If they were planning on releasing a new module every 9 months and it's almost September...
Running DCS-A-10 C in a virtual environment
in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Posted
Expect it to be very slow. I've run Win XP 32bit in a virtual environment under Win XP 64bit because I needed to run a few things for work that wouldn't run under 64 bit and I can tell you it was dog slow. Expect DCS to be virtually unplayable under virtual PC.
