  1. I flew 1st mission yesterday. Great design as allways with your campaigns but still very hard to stay in formation. As others said, I had to fly 52/2700 most of the time to stay near my leader.

And I also noticed that, every turn they did they massively slowed down so I learned that the only way to mantain formation was cut off power completely as soon as they turn and 52/2700 again as soon as they went straight again. That was the only way to mantain formation. And that was not very inmersive because, at the end of the day, I was constantly focused in not loosing them.

I am aware it is a DCS problem and it is very sad campaigns so great like this suffer this DCS problems. And this is an old one because DCS AI has allways been a bit... strange.

I hope things get better with the rest of the missions! 🙂

  2. Hello.

I am trying to enter waypoints manually using Jester UI in VR.

I add a new one or edit an existing one, click on the coords text box using the mouse, type them… and that is all. I do not know how to confirm them. I have tried to press “Enter” key for example but nothing happens. If I click “Back” the waypoint does not save.

    Could anyone help me?

Such vertical lines are either the result of getting jammed or its a known bug that a lot of players report being fixed after selecting the "Radar Performance" option in the Special Options. So I'd give that a try.

Regarding Jester not finding the Mig, if you havent seen the return on the screen then its likely your fault for not positioning the aircraft right or simply expecting too much from this early radar tech.
There isnt too much Jester or any WSO can do to make a target appear on the screen besides pointing the antenna there and tweaking the gain, which Jester does automatically.
If you can supply a track or video of the situation we could have a look and give details on what happened 🙂

Oh, I did not know that Radar performance option. I will test it.

    Thanks for the info.

EDIT: Solved with that option 😉

  4. Could anyone tell me the meaning of this bars?

I have been testing the radar in A/A mode and the screen was filled with this moving bars. Besides, Jester could not find a MiG-21 just in front of me until it was 5nm or something like that so the 21 shot me much before and destroyed me.

I have read something related to this and the user said his mission had only an enemy and a SA SAM. My mission also had an SA-8 so I tried to remove it and test the mission again and it seems the strange radar bars dissapeared. Could the SAMs affect F-4 radar somehow?

There is a handy triangle marker on the AOA gauge that tells you what the optimal cruise speed is.
And yes, refuelling the F-4 is very very easy (it might get a tad trickier down the line since engine spool times are said to be too quick atm).

In the AoA gauge? I suppose it is my mistake but I cannot find it.

Both the SA-6 and R-27R are semi-active radar homed missiles, so you are warned that the enemy radar is locked-on on you.

But as far as I know, the SA-6 missile is command-guided in the initial phase of flight, so I guess it's the command guidance channel that is detected and interpreted as launch.

And R-27R is not command-guided too?

But RWR does not detect missiles 'as such', only active radar emitters. So it won't detect, for instance, IR-guided missiles.

Of course, I have tested it when SA-6 missiles and MiG-29 missiles (R-27R).

Both radar missiles. RWR warn me about the SA-6 ones but do not about R-27R.

  8. I can confirm warning lights and sound when missile is fired from a SAM but no lights, no sound when fired from an aircraft.

From what Zabuzard said I suppose it is intended and real but it sounds strange the rwr can detect some missiles but not others.

It is also strange it cannot detect if someone is locking you.

It will be hard to face MiGs or Mirage F1s who have these abilities.

    Hello!

I am currently using HTC vive pro vr headset. Jester menu is blocked from option 2 to option 4, I can not see these options when i am playing in vr. My friend who is using Quset3 said he has no such trouble. I think it is about compatability for the menu on HTC.

    Hope this could be fixed.

    Many thanks!

    Maybe this could help you?

The RWR has no missile launch warnings. It might detect the missile as separate "unknown" emitter, show it and play a "new threat" sound. But thats about it.

Jester will only warn you if he can visually see the missile (which requires visual smoke and similar stuff)

    Oh, good to know, thanks.

And I assume it has also no radar lock warning, is it correct?

EDIT: It would be surprising in case of F-4 rwr does not have this capability (I mean radar lock warning) when MiG-21 does on his primitive rwr or even MiG-19 for rear aspect.

  11. Same here, no audio launch warning when the missile is fired by an aircraft (not tested in case of SAM missile).

Is there any way to activate it? It sounds weird that even Jester do not warning us about it.

  12. A couple of days ago did some test and all my modules worked at very solid 45 fps (locked using the option in DCS menu) except the Apache (some little drops).

Yesterday with the Phantom and the new patch solid 45fps most of the time but, from time to time, stutters and drops to 30 during 10/20 seconds. In a few tests even 5fps and DCS almost freezed. After that it recovers and solid 45 fps again.

    Specs:

    Win10, Pico Neo 3, 12700KF, 3070ti, 32GB RAM and M2. SSD.

will the FM be qualified as Professional for the F1 ?

The father of one of the developers was a professional Mirage F1 pilot so I suppose the FM will be very accurate.

  14. Hi.

It seems something has changed related with AWACS frequency. I am trying to use an A-50 russian AWACS to provide info to a MiG-19 squadron.

In the past I simply edited AWACS radio frequency to match MiG-19 frequency range (100.00 - 150.00 AM) using for example 125.00 AM. And it worked.

But now it seems A-50 AWACS radio frequency only works in range 225.00 - 399.00 AM. If I try something different it shows red color and it does not work. I try to call AWACS from the MiG-19 and he does not answer.

How can I use the AWACS with MiG-19 now without using scripts and weird things?

  15. Hi.

I have been flying DCS for many years and I think I know how to combat in closed dogfight but, due to my WWII and Cold War preferences, I think I do not know how to properly manage a BVR combat.

Do you know some book, guide, web, etc where I can check the proper tactics of BVR combat? I mean, how to fly, when should you launch your missiles, when should you use ECMs, best way to avoid missiles and so?

My goal is to learn how to perform better on BVR modern combat.
