If the game support the mod, Steam will support the mod. Steam is only the platform for lauching the game. There is not any problem with mods in other steam games. MODMAN is kinda friendly, so, I can't see the problem. And there is another great platform: http://www.impulsedriven.com/

Are we going to get the english manual as promissed?
GranCalvo replied to pagadi-zaiet's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks for the info. I will buy it, for sure. -
No, only games distributed in DVD, not for the download version. Counter Strike Source has a DVD version and you can't play online in Steam with it if it's cracked, at least, AFAIK.

I would like to buy a printed manual, is there would be any? -
That could be a great option, but ED Will NEVER release a patch to remove DRM, as you can see in Flaming Cliffs. Starforce recommends that publishers remove the driver after some time after releseasing the game, but ED doesn't do it. So, don't expect they remove DRM in BS after 1 or 2 years. Steam is a great option and does not use many resources. It's clean and safe and it does not install hidden drivers. There is another options, like Stardock System.

I Like Steam, I have not any problem with it. And It was not cracked, only games which uses Steam as MP system. But you can't play MP if you are not legal user.

Steam is a great option, I hope ED finally gets to Steam, as I have said previously. There is many advantages for using Steam, but I would resume it in a few:
- Is a better Cp for legal user and does not mess with drivers and such of things. - Is hardly "pirateable". Downloaded versions of Steam games are unbreakable, ony Steamworks games could be "breakable", hardly, but not for playing Multiplayer.
- It uses a complete and powerful searching engine for Multiplayer games.
- The game is tied to the LEGAL USER, and not to their COMPUTER. The game would be mine, not from my computer. I remark this.
- You have not limited activations
- Steam has more than 15 million users who would see your game announced -
You have not to be always online for playing your games in single player. But You can't play it without steam.
- Red Orchestra has many mods (another steam game)
- Steam distribute also FREE user mods There is some ninor issues:
- Price is high for download versions. (By example, Stalker CS costs 49$ Via Steam and 25€ from play.com )
- I think that Valve price for use of Steam is 50% of the sales. Not sure about this
I have bought 2 russian BS in DVD (a russian friend of mine bought for me). And I will also buy the western version distributed by Steam.

Thanks again for your answers. No, I'm not saying that. My english is not good enough to express myself, so I think You misunderstood me. I say that you have not precise numbers, but you use the piracy as main sales loses. 5%-10% could be a lot if you sell a lot, but if you sell 3000 is not many. But, anyway, you don't know exactly if there is a 5%, 1%, 0.5% or 90%. Also, you don't know how much loses are from anti copy protection system. Do you?. May be another 5%. May be, we don't know, but there is people who says that they will not buy the game with limited activations, as you can see. Another people does not say anything, but may be they won't buy it anyway for the same reason. How do you explain that games which are pirated a lot are selling a lot?. I'm sure you know many examples. There is another thing you may consider. Piracy risk is higher when you release the game. After 1 or 2 years after release, sales decrease a lot because people are less interested. I suppose that you don't sell many units of Flaming Cliffs right now. Why don't you release a patch, after 1 year, to avoid limited activations?. Take 2 made it with Bioshock, EA did it with Mass Effect and will do it with Spore. Egosoft made it with X series. But ED still continues with the protection system for FC, when there is not influence in sales after 2 years after release. There is people who stole cars. Imagine a company who obligates their customers to draconian security measures for driving the car. :D Thanks again

Thanks for your answers. You said that cheaper copies could be sold in China or Russia for low prices, but, may be those countries would not buy the game anyway because is too expensive for their economy (domestic economy). I don't know what is the average wage in Russia or China, but most probably people could not buy the game if they consider expensive. People don't buy expensive things if they can't. If they buy pirated copies does not mean that they would buy the original if can't afford it. They can afford the pirate copy, but not the original. It's only a supposition. Anyway, in European Union, is not legal to sell pirated copies. It's delictive and you could go to jail. It's not the same thing than download it, which is not a crime but illegal (it's not the same, illegal has not jail consequences). In fact, I have never seen pirated copies of videogames sold in the street, you only can find music or films sold by African inmigrants. Also you say the relationship between Lomac/FC sold/downloaded points you are in the right way. But we back to the same thing, you don't know how many of those downloaded files were going to be bought. I know people who would never buy Flaming Cliffs but they should pirate it. I think all of this stuff is full of suppositions and not real facts. There is not real numbers about how piracy affects videogames sales. But ED took the way to bother the legal user, the customer who buy your simulator. The pirate will continue playing it without any risk, without limit activations. Does it have any sense?. Tell me, sincerely if you can. What do you think about Stardock Software attitude about piracy? What do you think about another methods like Steam? Best regards

Tharos, could you answer some questions?. Do you think that 1 copy pirated means 1 sale less?. I mean, if Russian market has a 90% of videogames piracy (in Spain is 70%), do you think that you would increase 90% sales if nobody could pirate the game?. If the answer is not, what is the losses percentage for the piracy?. 60%, 20%?. How do you know those numbers?. Regards

That's what Blizzard says with "improve content in videogames". Create a good packacge is more effective against piracy than Limit activations.

Does Apache support multicrew in multiplayer?

I did it So, what's your opinion about that link?

You should read this: http://draginol.joeuser.com/article/303512/Piracy_PC_Gaming That guy is the Stardock CEO and says...: [i[The reason why we don't put CD copy protection on our games isn't because we're nice guys. We do it because the people who actually buy games don't like to mess with it. Our customers make the rules, not the pirates. Pirates don't count. We know our customers could pirate our games if they want but choose to support our efforts. So we return the favor - we make the games they want and deliver them how they want it. This is also known as operating like every other industry outside the PC game industry.[/i] It's worth reading it, specially for ED

Hi I think you, ED, are mistaken. You must assume that there is people who buy games and another people who don't. Make the things confortable for the people who will buy the game. Pirate will not buy the game, there is nothing you can do. There is not any protection system unbreakable. And your decision is to attack to the legal users with a draconian protection system. Bad decision, I think, and that's bad for all of us. I will buy the sim anyway, but probably some people will prefer to install the pirated version which has not activations limits. Do you think that your measures will increase your sales?. Really?. Take Stardock as an example. They sold a lot Sins of a Solar Empire and Galactic Civilizations 2. Those games has not ANY copy protection system. As I have said, there is people who buy games and does not care they could pirate it. They buy because they like it. And I'm sure that most people of this forum likes BS and Will buy it. Now, there is a pirated copy and many people did not wait until february. But most probably they will buy the game then. Also, you could use Steam, you can't pirate Steam. But, it's your decision. Mine is to buy the game when it be released in Europe.
