  1. You're right. Sometime ago I read an article about the why's the Toyota was so widely used by insurgents and how Toyota wasn't very happy with both the reason and the article I read. The same article also highlighted why the 1978 Chevy Caprice was a big seller in the middle east back in the 70's and 80's. Because it had a great air conditioner, huge radiator and the infallible 350 cu. in. engine. Ironically, and my memory fails me here, I read later on that the article actually boosted Toyota consumer sales (I forgot the percentages). Understandably Toyota was mute. LOL!
  2. Wow! lol! Thanks.
  3. LOL! Good point.
  4. Howdy All: I see the Persian Gulf has insurgent units you can add in the mission builder. I think what would be a nice touch is if they had White Toyota pickup trucks as transport vehicles. Maybe some with 50 cals. mounted on the truck beds. Just an idea.:D
  5. Howdy All: 1st the dumb question: I've noticed from the external view on YouTube DCS videos that the pilots head is animated. How is that accomplished? 2nd: Using the OpenBeta (current version) I can not seem to get the ATC, Wing etc. comms to work or even get the menu to appear via the default \. I tried remapping to other keys but still nogo. Any ideas what I can do to get it to engage?
  6. Hi Gang: Has anyone noticed unusually bumpy roll-outs on Persian Gulf runways? While I love noticeably realistic bumps, these have the feel of rolling down a runway full of speed bumps. This seems especially noticeable with the AV-8B. Or I bought a used module badly in need of new struts. :) Also, 50% of the time rearming via the / F8 menu doesn't work. I get the feed back, copy, but not the arming complete message and the weapons haven't been loaded. Weapons via "create mission/generate" don't load correctly 80% of the time nor after "generating/saving" and selecting that mission. To remedy I have to exit to the main screen then select from the "Missions" a second time.
  7. Howdy ouPhrontis: No, The room my rig is in is set to more of a theater type lighting with two WiFi LED soft lights (TP-Link LB100 smart-bulbs) behind my monitors set to 20%. But a good thought of yours. I actually checked to see if perhaps my 2nd monitor (right side and angled slightly) may be inhibiting the camera on the main but I don't see anything that might indicate it is.
  8. Hi Prophet: Thanks for the info. My IR5 software is showing: LED Brightness = 63 Rotation = 0 Light filter = 240 IR Brightness = 11 (No light interference, Monitor has soft light back lighting. Video Process Mode = Precision w/ and w/o enabling via the hotkey I centered the camera this time Vs the 2" L-Offset. It seems to be an improvement. When looking/stopping at 90 degree L/R the view doesn't seem have the subtle bungee cord effect as much. Instead of 3-4 oscillations I get maybe 2-3, but still odd.
  9. Howdy Darrylx444 and thanks. atm my smoothness is at 50, it was at 0 but am backing it down in increments of 5 until I find what works. I don't see any artifacts, but truthfully, I'm not sure I have the IR5 camera in the correct position. Currently it's (on a Asus 27" IPS monitor) approx. 2"/5cm left of center. In the camera view the middle green node is dead center, however, the nodes move further to the right than to the left when moving through the range, (edge-to-edge of the monitor). I saw your photo in your next post and will verify the settings again, but will also try your saturation setting. I think your ideas are narrowing things down to the culprit, thanks.
  10. Did you verify the settings for the "source" via file>Settings or by clicking the "source" then the "settings" to the right, then Audio, is your Desktop Audio Device or whatever you're using selected? Like this: Sample Rate: 48khz Channels: stereo Desktop Audio Device: Speakers (Sound Blaster Z) Desktop Audio Device 2: default Mic/Auxiliary Audio Device: default etc. etc.
  11. Yes there is but I seem to be having trouble finding that sweet spot.
  12. Thanks a lot for the info. I'll give that a try. I've been attempting to adjust the view to eliminate the fish-eye lens effect when looking around. Especially looking outside from the cockpit. The clouds for example tend to warp a bit in the default cockpit view. I found by zooming toward the HUD then backing out to view the top 1/2 of the instruments and fine tune it via CTL-SHF / and * removes that warping and object distances inside the cockpit represent external distances. The depth perception didn't seem natural i.e., that the runway threshold appeared further away inside the cockpit and closer in the external view. The disadvantage is my cutting off 1/2 of the HUD speed/altitude strips since I can not adjust the HUD view.
  13. Thanks for the advise. Thankfully the pro clip/camera aren't damage. It's my description that's damaged. :) It's difficult explaining what is happening. When I look L/R 90 degrees, instead of stopping at 90, there's a very subtle wiggle (horizontal oscillation) before coming to a stop. Imagine turning your head and then shake it 1/2mm each direction before coming to a stop. It only happens on the yaw axis.
  14. Howdy All: I'm using (trying actually) to get IR 5 w/5.4.2.27545 software with DCS World 2.5. But I have two questions. Using DCS-WAGS IR profile: (I've tried several others, including my own but Wags is the closest one so far) 1. How do you make the yaw movement stable? That is to say when looking left/right, how do you make the very subtle wobble "stop" where you intend to look. From looking center>look right/left (full 90 deg) parallel to your shoulder I always get a very subtle wobble on the yaw axis Vs a dead stop to where I'm looking. This doesn't occur with Roll or Pitch. I've tried One:One, deadzones and smooth Templates but always end with the same subtle yet tiny wobble... a nuisance wobble :( I understand moving a node vertically adjusts the yaw travel horizontally, but what does the horizontal spacing of nodes do? I don't see anything change when I move them further or closer to each other. 2. How can I permanently set the view point within the cockpit. I use ALT-SHF / and * for forward/back and ALT-SHF Num 2 and 8 for up and down. I read somewhere that ALT-Num 0 saves it but it's lost when I close DCS World. Is there a way to view the adjustments made then place those coordinates in the aircraft *.lua? Thanks for any help and suggestions. :)
  15. Hi All: I am running DCS World 2.5 and having two problems:1: with two Asus 27" monitors, both with identical settings. I'm having a slight problem with the setup and 2. Printing control commands via Make HTML I. Dual Monitors: 1. When I load, DCS 2.5, none of the Interface controls work unless I click the 2nd monitor then click the 1st monitor. 2. With the sim Fullscreen set on my main monitor, whenever I focus my mouse on the 2nd monitor, the sim on the 1st reduces to 1/2 the size of the monitor. Is there a way to stop this behavior between my two monitors and the sim. In window mode I can only get the sim to fill 1/2 of the main monitor. I'v tried the various 1,3 monitor etc presets but only end up with the sim displaying in the window a black screen on one side and the sim on the other side of that window. II: Control mapping; Make HTML I was able to "Make HTML" doc once and saved it as a pdf via print on my bowser. I am now unable to repeat this process as it opens windows File Explorer now instead of my Browser (FireFox). Any advise would be greatly appreciated Thanks Chitto
