good to hear it doesn't install drivers any more. but... i had a reply from the Support Team, who mentioned it may be worth me updating the drivers, and gave me a link to the StarForce site. They also mentioned there will be an upcoming patch. He wasn't sure if that would fix my issue, just that it might if the problem was an issue their end rather than StarForces. oh well here's hoping Dom

Hi does everyone else get this when they run the protect exe. i'm trying to update the drivers as i have a big problem getting this sim to work see thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35602 looking on the Star Force web site it should look like this how do i get to the Driver Management Commands? if anyone has access to the full console could you get in touch and email me the protect.exe and protect.dll I'm guessing that's what gives you this window. I'm trying to run the English version, i guess that the Russian wouldn't help Cheers Dom

thanks for the tips I'll check out the codecs first. hopefully i have some spare space for a partition.

I could spend months searching through the registry for an obscure entry. I guess i'll have to try a full clean reinstall of Vista to see if that fixes the problem. It's the only thing i haven't tried Not something i'll be happy about as i'll have loads to re-install. everything else works perfectly. then again it will probably do my PC some good in the process. :) better get backing up then. could take a while. if it still has a problem i'll be very annoyed. not at you though

i do get a pop up error. :) see my first post. I'm not about to list all my software, I'm not at home anyway. I have essentially run it with no other services running other than microsoft essential ones for Vista. I can only assume there is a problem with the StarForce driver, which i can't install seperately or get it to update. My error states there is a fault with Starforce. what if i was sent the protect.dll and protect.exe from a PC that it works on? or is the activation coded into them already? or is it the dcs.exe i need?

Hi thanks for joining in :) I still get the same problem even when disabling non essential processes.

Yes :) I have myself set as admin anyway and have the UAC disabled

Hi yup. tried contacting StarForce support a few days ago, but not had a reply yet. I guess they're busy with all the problems they've caused :smilewink:

any more suggestions? Are the Devs back from hols yet?

i have tried about 6 or 7 un-installs and installs using the downloads from each of the mirrors provided. but have exactly the same error each time i try and start a "mission" or track from the main GUI as described previously:(

haha:megalol: not quite that desperate yet. Cheers :music_whistling:

thanks :) I thought about trying that, but when using protect.exe I only see the last two options of the GUI. I don't have any of the driver management commands as shown on that site. do you know how I get those?

Hi thanks for the reply  Yup - I have activated Black Shark which says it was successful (sorry should have mentioned that in my post)... or do i need to do something special to activate StarForce itself?
-
Bump Please .... Anyone any ideas?

DCS.exe frequently crashes when loading a mission

Hi I have the same problem, I'm betting that it's StarForce that's causing the problem, as i can see in my Vista Problem Report that it lists "Fault Module Name: protect.dll" now as far as i can tell this is all part of the StarForce protection. I'm wondering if anyone else sees the same problem? I've no idea how to fix it, just hope that the developers see this and can fix it. I've noticed that running the protrct.exe to activate/deactivate BlackShark seems to be missing the config options that are shown on the Starforce website. I was hoping to update the starforce driver, but can't without these options. Sorry i'm not much help Dom
