  1. Sorry for the bump, but I am trying to use this to set up my throttle (Warthog Throttle, Virpil T-50MC2 with F-18 stick, and Slew Rudder Device).

When I run the script, I have When I go to settings I see: Rudders Thrustmaster Virtual Throttle, and VPC stick. Is this right, I was told there should be Warthog Throttle and a Virtual Throttle. Should it be two or should it be one?

Thank you for helping a newbie.

EDIT: Can I use this in IL-2:GB?

  2. Well, I'm not new new, but I haven't flown in over 3 years and now this time I have a HOTAS instead of a little stick and basically being a keyboard typist.

I want to start practicing on the F/A-18. I have a Warthog Throttle and a Virpil T-50CM2 base with the F/A-18 Grip. Does anyone have a profile/set up for that set up that most closely mimics the real F-18 HOTAS?

    Thanks

  3. I cannot release any info until the NDA expires but I can say the Index is the absolute best I have personally experienced when it comes to setting IPD. (and I have personally tried the Rift, the Rift S, the Samsung Odyssey Plus, the Vive Pro, the Pimax 5K and a few custom made headsets made here in the College of Engineering)

Do you get a better sense of speed in DCS than with say the Vive? I don't own VR, but when I used it and watched the video the Pimax had a better sense of speed from the larger FOV than the Vive did and that the video basically showed me the same things I felt when using it.

I haven't tried the Pimax, but I had the same experience with the Vive.

It seems the 150 degrees is ideal, but the Index I guess is supposed to only be 130.

    Appreciate your thoughts and experiences.

  4. I would think the Pimax gives a better impression of speed , as well as conferring other benefits . However , i have the same concern regarding it as i do the Lenovo Rift - build quality .

Yea, I would love the wide FOV, but seeing on Reddit the posts about the cracks on the HMD, seeing the black dots, seeing how poor Pimax CS is, and seeing how bad PiTools is...I think the Index is what I'll get.

  5. If you've ever flown DCS in VR, you would not be asking this question. So, to answer your question, VR. When in VR, you are no longer in a room looking at a monitor. You are in DCS World.

This. Buddy was deployed and he let me use his VR setup and GPU. I went back to a monitor when he got back 3 months later and I couldn't fly. I won't be flying until I can get a VR headset.

  6. Yeah its a very very old trick. But not applicable to aviators IIRC their regs demand both set at infinity so they have depth perception. I think the current way its implemented in the harrier is OK, be nice to have a look under nvg button, that gave you 1/3 of the screen to look under.

I don't doubt there is a reg on that. I wouldn't be shocked to find a regulation on how to poop. Heck, I've found regulations that contradict other regulations. That is fun, seems the leadership always picks to follow the one that does NOT benefit you.

  7. In the real world with the ANVIS you can focus one side for close and one side for infinity focus, but its prohibited for air ops IIRC, both need to be set for infinity so you can see wtf you are doing. If you need to look into the pit, you look "under" them (just tilt your head up and glance down). Not sure how that can be implemented in DCS. Simplest thing would be to just have everything in focus.

The infinite/near trick is what is used by us on ground operations. There are two tricks:

    1. Focus one at infinity and one at 8 feet

    2. Focus one at infinity and one at 2 feet.

The one at two will allow you to read things, but it's harder for actual CQ combat.

I actually don't the monocle for open field combat ops. I can see things sometimes with the non-NVG eye that the NVG doesn't illuminate.

That said, I prefer the thermal/NVG combined goggles, but they are hard to get my hands on.
