Did a search but still have a TIR problem
FixerOhio replied to FixerOhio's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
SOLVED! Color me dumb. SOLVED!! Color me totally stupid for not trying this in the first place but I finally resolved this issue. All I had to do was minimize TIR prior to launching Black Shark. With every other sim, I just left TIR maxamized so I could see the tracking and heads views. The other sims ran fine with TIR like this. But BS goes through some loading process that would kill TIR just prior to acutally entering the actual sim mode. Kicked TIR off. Just for grins, I minimized TIR prior to launching BS and viola, works like it should. I'm very embarassed for not trying this sooner. Thanks to all those who made suggestions. Was nothing wrong with my machine, USB ports, game or TIR. Lesson learned!! -

Can certainly do that but how would it affect the TIR cameradll.dll? I'm running the latest nVidia drivers from their website. Prior to me reinstalling Window the other evening, I was running the graphic driver version just prior to the latest. Can't recall the version number as I'm posting from work and don't have access. Was hoping to hear from one of the developers concerning how the loading of the sim progresses. The program minimizes several times during the loading process and was wondering how or why that occurs. My other games/sims don't do that to that to that extent. As a thought, I tried enabling and disabling system swap/virtual file (I have 4 GB RAM and don't normally enable the swap file) but that had no effect either. Will try working with graphics drivers but I'm not hopeful. Thanks again for trying. -

Bonkers; more valid ideas, thanks. But I've tried both the reflectors (set to vector) and the pro clip (set to pro clip). I almost always have the tracking and head preview windows open and all works/tests well. The TIR works perfectly in several of my other sims too. Not with Black Shark however. I start TIR, verify its operation, start BS and sadly watch as TIR gets dumped during the loading of BS. It's like something in BS loads that conflicts with the TIR somehow. But I've altered neither of the programs and it's obvious that TIR works great BS for so many people. -

Lionpride; Good thought but I've tried both the reflector and Track Clip Pro and it responds the same with either. Will clean the reflectors and give it a go however. Rimmer: I understand what you mean by 45200 now. My device number is different however but the software is the 4.1.036 version and I did the game update from the menu bar. Black Shark profile shows up in the profile list. And I don't change it in any way. And the trackIR shows up in the Black Shark axis menu under options. It surely sees it but there is something goind on during the loading portion of a mission that generates an error with my TIR. Normally it's a cameradll.dll error. Maybe it's our Russian friends getting back at me for being in the USAF on the west side of the wall at Bitburg and Ramstein Air Bases in Germany for 15 years during the Cold War. LOL. Hope not. Have lots of great Russian friends in Ohio now. Glad it worked out that way. Thanks again to all. About ready to throw in the towel. Out of ideas. -

Rimmer: Thanks for the input! Which driver are you referring toward with Version 45200? That for your CH Products? I've done most of what you mention. Odd thing is that the TIR shows up fine in the options menu for axis in BS. Tried disabling the hotkeys in TIR to eliminate that but it didn't help. Went so far as to nuke my system and start from scratch again. That's right, reformatted and reinstalled XP just to try to resolve this issue. Spent hours and hours doing this yesterday. Besides XP and driver updates, I did not install anything else except TIR and BS. Guess what? Same thing! Arggggg! And I tried all the things that Naturalpoint suggested. Did all the TIR updates, tried various USB ports, disabled XP power management of USB ports. Again TIR shows up in BS option menu but no go. Does everyone else's BS minimize several times prior to launching a mission? Example: I'm on the menu screen with logbook, options, mission select, etc. I hit the instant action button. The menu screen vanishes and I briefly see my desktop. A full screen loading screen pops up and gives me a progress bar (loading trees, etc). A few seconds later, that loading screen minimizes and another pops up. With progress bar, etc. It's at about the 50% point during this loading that my TIR blue light extinguishes. There has to be something loading during that second phase that kicks my TIR out. If I alt tab out at that point, my TIR has an "unhandled error" and is dead in the water. Perhaps if I try setting all my BS graphic options to minimum and testing. Must be something in the loading that affects TIR. I'll beat this one way or the other. -

Thanks for the thought Tigar but my XP install is only 2 weeks old and it's updated up the wazoo. All hardware devices have latest drivers as well. Tried shutting down anything running in the background too. I had read the forum posts about updating TIR prior to posting here. Some good ideas thrown my way but none have helped to this point. May just have to learn to orient my view with the POV control on my Fighterstick instead. -

Chizzy: Very good point and I did that straight away. Saw they had a few posts about similiar problems and, of course, things were resolved for others. But I'm still battling. This is what I posted there: Have had TIR for some time now. Works flawlessly with IL-2, rFactor, Wings Over Europe, Allied Force and others. Just installed Ka-50 Black Shark. TIR will not function with this sim. Program errors out during loading of instant action, training or full missions. Blue light extinguishes and it reports an "unhandled error". Occurs in the same place each time. Right about the 50% point in the final loading process, the blue light goes out and TIR function ceases. I've read all the threads here and on the DCS forum for Black Shark concerning this. Have the latest TIR software and the game profiles are updated. Black Shark profile is shown. I've made no changes to the profile. I've uninstalled and reinstalled TIR per the instructions Vincent has posted several times. Have uninstalled and reinstalled Black Shark several times to try to clear. No joy. I'm running XP 32 bit on a Nforce 680i SLI mainboard with an Intel E6850 CPU, 4 GB Corsair RAM and 2 8800 GTXx video cards. Using X-Fi extreme gamer sound. Have CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pedals running through the latest version of CH manager. Other USB devices running are my Saitek keyboard and Kensington trackball. Went to Device Manager and disabled power management of USB hubs by Windows. Tried different USB ports. Not using a separate powered USB hub although I did previously and things worked fine. Tried using the Pro Clip and reflectors. Same results. Am going slightly insane over this as everyone who has had a TIR issues with Black Shark has found a resolution. Anyone have any ideas here? All help is greatly appreciated! -
Did a search but still have a TIR problem

I'm very happy for the individuals who were able to get TIR working with BS. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. I'm pulling my hair out here. Uninstalled and reinstalled both TIR and BS again. Updated TIR as instructed. Tested TIR with numerous USB ports and disabled as many USB devices as feasible. TIR works fine in IL-2. Have narrowed where the problem occurs however. For example, I select instant action from the main GUI. My TIR is still running and light is blue. BS minimized briefly then reappears with a loading screen with progress bar. TIR is still showing blue light. Then BS jumps to another loading screen and with progress bar at about 50%, the blue light in my Tracker goes out! If I alt tab to TIR, I have an 'unhandled errr' message and a frozen TIR menu. It seems to kick out TIR as its doing it's final loading. And it doesn't matter if it's instant action or training or a full mission. Devs monitoring this forum? Any thoughts? Very confusing for me. No other game/sim does this. Is there some way to disable the how the program jumps from menu/screen to the next. Seems to have something to do with that. My XP install is less than 2 weeks old with everything fully updated. I'm running the latest CH controller for my Ch Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals. Surely I'm not the only sole having this issue. A little violin music please.................. :helpsmilie: -

Yup, TIR 4. Have the Pro Clip and the standard reflectors sewn onto a baseball cap. Tried both. Really confusing me. Reinstalled BS and TIR but get same problem. Sometimes now getting an "unhandled error" from TIR. Did some searching on Naturalpoint but didn't get a good answere there. My TIR is connected to a mainboad USB port; no hub. I have a MSI P6N Diamond mainboard and no other USB issues. This is really frustrating. Can fly IL-2 all day without an error and can even get it to work with BS. Again, thanks for the inputs. -

I'll have to check into this one. Thanks everyone for the input. I forgot to mention that I'm running XP 32 bit so the Vista fixes won't help. Thinking about just reinstalling both programs to eliminate any issues I might have induced. I'm so stoked about flying BS but it's just not the same without my TrackIR. Thanks again for the ideas and I'll give them all a try if they apply. Other ideas are welcome:) -
Greetings all. First post! :) Picked up the highly anticipated BS and installed it a week ago. No problems running it 1920 X 1200 on my system with a CH Products setup. BUT I cannot get my TrackIR to function. Did a search and am running the latest Naturalpoint software version and did a games update. BS shows up in the profiles. And in the BS Axis options window, the TIR axis appears. But it won't function in the sim. I'm very confused. Have rebooted several times, etc. alt-c for a clickable cockpti works and does mouse movement within the cockpit but I would really like to use my TIR. Works great in my other sims like IL-2, FSX, Wings Over Europe as well as my driving sims. Out of ideas. Any help from you very knowledgable gents would be greatly appreciated! Not sure if it makes a difference but I'm running the sim in game mode right now to ease myself into the complexity of this wonderful product. Aren't helos sims great?
