  1. Don't get me wrong I keep coming back to campaigns. I don't play multiplayer, and single missions don't satisfy that "I am a real combat pilot" feeling. But here are some of my criticisms-with some solutions that I think are feasible. I know there are a bunch of solutions that really boil down to "put more time and energy into the game" but sheeeesh I have spent more time learning this game than I spent with my kids (who are all in jail and addicted to various drugs due to my parental negligence-kidding they're pretty badass) 1. I don't know what the other pilots/FAC/AWAC are saying-I have figured out the F-18 generally, but when I drop into a campaign, and the FAC, AWACs are telling me stuff I don't get it- I LOVE the succinctness and specificity of military parlance-but many times (I'm talking to you Arctic Thunder) I don't understand what I am being tasked to do-esp if I have to fly off pre-planned flightplan-SOLUTION-put a dumb downed Text message next to the message texts with simple language; 2. I spend A LOT of time getting to the interesting part of the mission, screw it up then die. Then have to reload and (at minimum) watch the whole boring part at 3 x speed -which seems to take longer than just manually flying it. I absolutely want that "boring" part-it adds so much to the game and is fun ONCE (maybe twice) but I'm that terrible of a pilot and it can take 5-6 times to complete. Solution-Quick Save-Once per mission you should be able to do a Quick Save-then after failing the mission the game should give you an option to start at that point. 3. I LOVE DCS-and I love campaigns and will always buy and play them-but the fun is mitigated sometimes by the above.
  2. I have such a hard time understanding the military parlance. But I am an idiot. I wish there was sub-set of information available maybe on the kneeboard or your flight kind of clarifying what we are doing "OK Devil 32 let's look for that Fulcrum at bearing 270" - I know dumbing it down negates the verisimilitude but KNOWING what I am actually doing would really make this campaign more accessible. To be fair, I find a lot of campaigns have the same issue (Persian Lion 1 &2 are the exception)
  3. I will try it. Thanks.
  4. Hi, Thanks for that. Yea it's weird-for some reason DCS is seeing the Aero as not being on or something. I'll keep troubleshooting. Re-booting the system works so I can still play when needed. Again appreciate the help.
  5. Hi, Thanks for any insight: dcs1.log was a failed VR load; dcs.log was a successful VR load. dcs1.log dcs.log
  6. Varjo aero, GPU 4090, Intel, Win 11- This is a recent problem-I think before the most recent update it wasn't happening but can't be sure. So generally I can boot up computer, and start DCS-then from the Startup menu I can Launch DCS-in VR mode. But after (generally) playing and exiting (sometimes it works twice) when I start up DCS again it will only launch into pancake (non-VR) mode. I have reinstalled the Varjo base, and repaired DCS files, updated nvida drivers, disabled other programs etc. Can anyone think what could be happening? What could change between first launch (which works) and the subsequent launches (that don't)? ANY ideas are appreciated.
  7. You can change the default location of your pilot, and then save it. I can't remember exactly the commands - I think like RGT CTRL & RGT SHIFT (together) and then move with the keypad. Then save with CTRL/FUNCTION (together) Keypad 0. Not the exact keys probably, but move view with the Keypad. The new saved position will be your Center VR position from then on.
  8. This will unhelpful-but I had that problem-and I changed some option (Brightness in Varjo base maybe) and it went away-my memory is shot-I will update if I can remember exactly (this is the focus vs peripheral box that flits around with eye tracking I am referring to).
  9. You're using Mbuccia's wrapper, and still getting this issue? It fixed it for me.
  10. With teary eyes I say a belated goodbye. Damnit
  11. Thank you for letting us know. It's profoundly strange and sad to have this slightly weird relationship in these forums, and not know the struggles we are all going though. He was such a helpful guy. I feel a strange and deep sadness at his passing. Into the great unknown beyond. I hope he is sitting somewhere-pain free and flying into another adventure.
  12. Non-scientific-Just changing those options (from DSAA) the MFDs were WAY blurrier. Switched back.
  13. You need the mbuccia wrapper (a little extra program)-look at the first post to download and install that. Look in the MAIN MENU-CONTROLS-UI CONTROLS (from drop down menu-it has all the airplanes, and then at the bottom there is one that says UI Controls (or something like that).
  14. In the controls "UI Controls" or something. I bind it to an easily accessed button on my stick.
