You can circumvent that problem by not using the axis setting. Just use the antenna elevation Up and Down keybinds in the non-axis list.

I think this would require to run their software (that wrap around vJoy internally) to treat the wheel as button press in order to bind to the button. DCS is seeing this as an axis/slider with no way for me to bind it to a button.

  2. As of it right now modifiers in DCS works either by holding onto them momentarily to get the effect , or it work almost like a "switch" of always on/always off kind of deal but there aren't anything in the middle. AFAIK, on the F-15C modern HOTAS for example, they have a concept of a momentarily modifier and that usually work with a 5-way hat like the castle hat on the flight stick, the push-down action would be used as a momentarily modifier that will only in effect for the next command only, think of it like a momentarily activating the "second" layer of command that you can do. After the next input, the modifier would be cleared until getting activated again.

This would free up many binding scenarios and also allow faster use of modifier, especially with 5-way hats being more common these days.

  3. I recently acquired the Winwing Super Taurus with their Hornet throttle grip. The Hornet throttle grip radar elevation wheel is spring loaded to return to center and this currently does not play well with the ANT ELEV axis binding for the Viper in DCS. While it is possible to run vJoy either directly or through WW Software to turn wheel direction into a button, but i would love if there is a special for joystick binding option for the Viper here and spring-loaded wheel so it doesn't auto-return to center in the jet the moment you let go (and especially NOT having to run a piece of software before starting DCS, TrackIR alone is already enough)

  4. The M/MH Sparrow seems to always loft in the F-15C until it reached down about 5 or so miles. This would make high aspect shot nearly impossible. This seems to be a long-standing bug and i remembered that it was reported before but i can't find that thread again. If there is such a known thread, please dup/merge.

  5. Seem like this can be repro-ed in SP as well

    Repro steps
    1. Load up the 156 with 5-by-1 load (5x 120C, 1x 9X). the 9X needs to be on station 2 or the equivalent on the other wing (aka the A/A only station that is next to wingtip).
    2. Cold start, take off, go back and forth between A/G master -> A/A master -> DFGT and back. Should work as normal. Notice that when entering A/A mode , 9X is usually selected first.

    3. Land, re-arm the plane with A/G bombs and missiles, however, remove pylons from station 2 and equivalent on the other wing. Not just remove the payload, but entire pylon.

    4. Take off with new load out, go into A/G mode, then A/A mode (notice if there isn't any 120 VISUAL ring on the HUD), then try DFGT switch to enter DFGT mode. This hang/crash the game on my end.

OG post: I can't nail down the exact repro yet but i usually see this when trying to get into A/A mode (by pressing A-A master mode button on the UFC) while being in A/G mode (responding to air threat). Then when i can't see the VISUAL circle of the 120 on the HUD, i tried to get into the DGFT mode and the game usually just hang.

Attached file is for the entire flight, the hang happens at the end.

  6. Mission 6 auto-fail when Pontiac flight disappears. No success triggers

I deserved to fail this flight too but all 3 B-1s from Pontiac survived, dropped their payload and make it all the way back past the FEBA. No success indication, just auto fail when the Pontiac flight disappears when it flew past the map region. I forgot to save the track file but here is the acmi file.

Also, Shell 1-1 flies outside of the map as well, which would also trigger failure condition.

  7. Although I'm an Eagle head and very much would like the surprise aircraft to be the F-15C, i am somewhat leaning toward the surprise-and-eagerly aircraft to either be an attack helicopter (either AH-1 or AH-64), or the F-4E.

Although, i disagree with some of you here. I think having the full fidelity Eagle would improve their radar works a lot. There are works already for A/G Radar, and we are already seeing some advanced radar modes on the Hornet and Viper. I can still hope at least :D

  8. I am recently spotting this weird banding over water when flying in Persian Gulf, it is very apparent when flying up high and down the coast. At first thought it was my monitor having problem but it persisted in a screenshot, which leads me to believe it is the way that game is rendering water.

This banding is kinda "fixed" in position, so as you move around, the vertical banding doesn't move. Only happen to water. I haven't yet tested in Caucasus.

  9. Might be a weird question, but what is the main difference between the OG DCS-BIOS (assume the account with the same name on Github is from the original creator) and the fork from DCSFlightPanels folks, which should be used these days?

I see them both are being updated very regularly, so i am not sure which one to use. Although the 0.10 from the DCS-BIOS account seems to be okay

  10. Okay... Thanks to some other member suggestions, i just figured out the problem:

I had button 10 bound to VR Zoom on UI layer section and DCS does not warn me about double binding. And somehow that seems to screw up every binding that we have on that button.

I am not sure if that is falling under by-design or something that we should fix but i am leaning toward the latter for this one. As anybody can have the same problem

  11. Could you record a short track in which you press the keyboard button and then the joystick button? Maybe, we will see something and help you with this problem

see the one below using the 18C.

    Steps were taken as below:

    1. Switch Attack Radar to left MFD

    2. Press joysick castle/sensor left multiple time, no diamond indicating TDC priority.

    3. Press RAlt + , (keyboard binding for sensor left) , Left MFD now indicating diamond on top right for TDC assigned.

    4. Press joystick sensor/castle up to reset TDC to HUD. Repeat from step 2.

  12. Yeah, base is beyond the price I would pay for something so far unproven, but the grip does interest me.

I have been looking years for the F-15C grip beside the Suncom stick. the Hornet grip is close, but this is still better :)

    We are actively producing more

Sounds good. One quick question, for the trim hat, is it 8-way/4-way with push down ? The real F-15 grip has the trim hat as 8-way with pushdown and none of the stick that I have found can do that.

  13. I would certainly disagree. Lofting is a technique that yield you more range, for the sake of losing accuracy. The loft hurts the 7 miles shot (2nd one) a lot, it increase the TTG overall and larger region for evading.

The first one, even though hard to get a kill, but still possible. The F-Pole maneuver is used for that exact reason.
