I had the exact same issue with the installation of BS from the DVD. I did finally figure out that my computer wasn't freezing, it was just bogging down on something. I found out this was happening only because upon ejection of the DVD, the licensing agreement screenie would then pop up. So, it was apparently trying to install but wasn't able to due to a problem with my system.
I saw the post by -Wolfman- in this thread and decided to give it a try.I copied the "SETUP" and "DATA1" directly from the DVD to a temporary folder on my hard drive. Short story, no joy. I decided to give it one more try. This time I went into C:/program files/Eagle dynamics and deleted the Eagle dynamics folder (which was empty) then I did a disk cleanup and defrag. I then removed all power to the computer for about 5 minutes. (I didn't set out with a specified time in mind- I just got occupied changing the kid's diaper.) I turned on the computer and shut off the Firewall and antivirus program. I also ran enditall for good measure. I put the DVD in and selected "exit" instead of "install". I then went to temporary folder I had made as per -Wolfman- suggested and ran the "SETUP". It started to install, but it was painfully slow at first. It started to install with increasing speed and was completed in about 25 minutes.
So far so good as I have not had any other problems. I hope this post is useful to the next person with an ornery system. My thanks to the thread posters and EvilBivol-1.
My humble system for reference:
