  1. that's a good suggestion, I will indeed try that thanks!
  2. I'm very interested to get FC3 as I have LOMAC and FC2 but I've not yet tried any DCS titles. Can anyone who already has the beta comment on the frame rate? I always had trouble with poor framerates in FC2 even after upgrading to a Radeon HD 6850 so I'm quite wary of shelling out again if its not going to be fast enough to play on my machine. Kind regards Daave
  3. On my Radeon HD 3870X2 I've always had screen tearing in LOMAC:FC2, no matter what I tried. Enabling vsync, D3D Overrider, ATI Tray Tools, you name it I tried it. Anyway to cut a long story short, I finally found a tool that did the job - Radeon Pro. I created a profile for "simulator.exe", set up the antialiasing etc. how I like it and then changed vsync to "Always On" in the Tweaks tab. Done, no more problems. There's quite a lot I don't like about Radeon Pro, and its taken me all afternoon to configure it for all my sims but now I am a happy bunny and can finally start playing FC2! :pilotfly: http://www.radeonpro.info
  4. hmm, a few further observations after I went back to the default sounds:- 1. Installing a soundpack definately seems to fix this issue. So far though I've tried Archers, TUaF and ZZAP and I only get the issue with the default sounds. 2. I also get the issue coming out of pause sometimes - if I tickle the throttle the sound comes back however. I didn't test this with the soundpacks but IIRC this worked OK as well. Anyway, I'm open to any and all soundpack recommendations as it does seem to fix the problem! Kind regards Dave
  5. Frazer - thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to check it out. I'm only flying F15 right now though, and I take it from the thread that this isn't done yet. Kind regards Dave
  6. I'll have to muck about a bit more to be sure, but I think installing one of the sound mods from lock on files might have sorted it. Will let you know. Kind regards Dave
  7. That's not quite what I'm getting though - if I accelerate up to mach 1 and leave the throttle fully open, I hear only wind. It's only if I start to decelerate (say when maneuvering or reducing throttle) then I hear no sound at all, not even wind, until I go subsonic again. It's like all the sound cuts dead. Thanks! Dave
  8. Actually, having played some more today it seems more complicated than I described. It definately seems related to speed, but not in the way I'd expect. If I'm subsonic and then hit the afterburners, once I reach mach 1 the engine sound drops away and I hear just wind - that's expected. However, if I slow down again after a few seconds I get *complete* silence (not even any wind) until I go subsonic, then I hear everything again. What should I be looking for in sound.cfg? Kind regards Dave
  9. M-Audio Delta 66, which is more optimised towards studio work than games. My machine also has a built in (realtek most likely) audio chipset, which is deactivated in the BIOS. Kind regards Dave
  10. I've done a search for similar problems on the forum but I couldn't find anything where a fix was mentioned... I am running LOMAC v1.02 on Vista 32-bit, and have a problem with the engine (and other) sounds cutting out during flight after a minute or two. Once the sounds cut out I hear only what I assume is wind noise for a minute or two and then suddenly the engine sound comes back. Has anyone found a solution to this issue? is it fixed in Flaming Cliffs? Kind regards Dave
