A question for all you Oculus flyers out there.
Muppett replied to Muppett's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the above - I will use the correct forum next time! -
Hi everyone, I am new to the Oculus style of flying and have a few questions which I am hoping you good folk will be able to help me with. To set the scene I am running DCS 1.5 and using Oculus Rift CV1. 1. I have viewed numerous videos and web pages about settings for my Oculus within DCS. The one I am unsure about is the actual resolution. At the moment the resolution is set to the same as my monitor (1920 x 1200). Is this the correct setting for the Rift? I did see someone had posted their resolution as being 3840 x 2160 with an aspect ration of 1.7777. I don't have this option. So am I doing it right with 1920 x 1200? 2. Push the buttons. Once I am within an aircraft (Black Shark or Huey) I am having real problems using the mouse to push or change switches / dials. I can make the cursor come alive or go away via the middle mouse button but when I try and press a button etc the button routinely doesn't function and then the mouse goes away and the aircraft's controls seem to lock. Am I doing something wrong or is this a by product of using VR? Hope some clever folk out there will know the answers. Many thanks

Hi guys, I am having a new problem with my X52 which is driving me crazy, I am wondering if some clever folk out there have seen this before and know a fix. I am using the X52 to fly helos. The stick has worked for years with no more problems than any X52 owner but recently it has developed a false centre mark - let me explain. The stick is calibrated fine within Windows, everything works A OK. I start DCS and open either the Black Shark or the Huey and as I sit on the ground without touching the controls the stick and pedals are all in the correct place as marked on the orange/red square with the cross in the middle. As soon as any input is added to the stick the default centre for the joystick jumps above the centre of the cross and becomes the new centre. I can re trim it but to do this I have to move the stick back to the centre and then back the same distance again - pressing the trim then re centres the stick nearly back to the centre of the cross. That in itself is the easy bit but when flying and you want to trim you have to make the same adjustment, adding extra movement backwards so that when you release the trim the new centre is where you want it, that throws the helos nose up into the air which is just plain wrong. Has anyone encountered such a problem or better yet fixed it? The effect is the same within the settings. Without touching the controls all is set up great. Once the stick is touched a new centre is created. These shots are from the Huey, it is more exaggerated in the Black Shark. :joystick:

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I will try overclocking and add RAM first. Then see what Intel release.

Hi guys, I am a helo pilot playing DCS (Black shark and Huey) and am about to make a purchase of a new motherboard, chip and RAM however wherever you look there are different bits of advice and soo many Intel chips to look at. So firstly has anyone looked at or used the new Ryzen chips from AMD - and if so are they performing well with DCS? If not what intel to go for? From what I read I will need to go to 16gig of RAM as well. My current rig is a good 7yrs old - Intel i5 2500K (Sandybridge) Socket 1155 on a Gigabyte Z68P motherboard with 8gig of DD3 memory. My graphics are running a GTX 780. I know this will need upgrading eventually but one step at a time. The system is pushing a monitor at 1920 x 1200. The system does run DCS and does it OK but I hate turning settings down. I have close to £500 to play with. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies guys, much to think on - or am I in a greater dilemma!!

Hi guys, I am after a question answering if anyone has the info. I currently play Black Shark and the huey flight models. I do this with one monitor and TrackIR. My position is that I can't afford a Vive or Rift CV1 but can get a DK2 quite reasonably. So has anyone got any thoughts on the comparison? Should I stick with TrackIR until I can get the full upgrade path or will the DK2 make a massive difference that it is worth the jump. I am aware of the differences between the DK2 and CV1 - the resolution and the tracking - just hoping someone might have gone down this route already and may save me the issues. Cheers

Hi everyone, I have spent a good bit of time looking for this - it either isn't out there or I am useless and can't find it! I have had Black Shark for ever and now am fully updated in Black Shark 2 however I still have Russian ATC etc with English subtitles. I have changed the setup for English avionics but was wondering if there is a mod or file to change all radio comms to English audio? If anyone knows the answer or better still can link me to the file I would be a very happy boy.

Thanks for the advice (which I should have thought of!!) I have an x52 joystick that had assigned itself a slider to the zoom key. Thanks again.

Hey guys, hope someone can help. I have just upgraded to Black Shark 2 after having no problems with the original program, however when I try and play the simulator the cockpit view is fully zoomed in and quite choppy. When I try to zoom out it has an intermitant effect in that it either zooms out but snaps straight back to the zoomed in view or it doesn't zoom out at all. I have tried it with Trackir 5 and without and altered resolutions and aspect ratios etc. but nothing is fixing it. Anyone had the same problem?? I am running a core i5 at 4ghz with 4Gb memory on Windows 7 64bit. Graphics are a Radeon 6850.:joystick:

Hey everyone - this may be an already answered question but the posts that cover the topic don't seem to make sense to me (I don't understand!) I have an English version of the game but all the voices are in Russian in the campaign - is there a way to put the voices in the campaign into English so I dont have to read the subtitiles?

I have been reading and studying the manual but cant find the answer so hope people dont mind what may seem like a noob question. Is there a key to just centre your view on the ABRIS without having to slew your view and zoom in. I am after a toggle that will just fill the screen with the ABRIS or SHKVAL so you can study and work with them. Sorry if this is an obvious thing but I am stuck - and frustrated! Cheers

Is it too sensitive or is it my stick???
Muppett replied to Muppett's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You have saved my joystick and made such a difference to the game - thanks mate - truly awesome now! -
Hey everyone - I am new to the forum after buying the game but I am having trouble and cant seem to find the answer anywhere so I am after any friendly tips. I have the system to run the game on full but have a fairly old joystick - a Thrustmaster Topgun (non Force feedback). The problem is that the response from the helo is so sensitive that I bairly even have to touch the stick and it is diving up/back/left and right. This makes any attempt at landing or fine movements almost impossible and really annoying! I cant find anything in game to alter the joystick sensitivity nor is there anything on the internet other than other tools to calibrate the stick which I have used - There doesnt appear to be any calibration issues. Any thoughts or tips would go down well here otherwise the stick is getting to meet my hammer in the shed!
