  1. You can do that. You can even just arm the bomb and jettison it when in certain parameters.

As long as it catches the laser, it should be good. But hitting is not pre-requisite for completing the mission, plus the JTAC lasing is bugged in DCS, so if it doesn't work do not worry too much :)

Ran into the same problem, I managed to drop the bombs properly but they didn't track... ended up taking them out with guns. How is JTAC lasing broken exactly? Does it simply not work?

  2. Yes, waypoint altitude are supposed to be topographical altitude, not your flight plan altitude. You have to handle that yourself.

In western Europe, no topographical altitude is above 25 000ft.

Alright, that makes perfect sense. The campaign mission briefings repeatedly instruct you to manually input waypoint altitudes into the PCN, though. Maybe something to reconsider :)

  3. Yes, i've noticed the same. It's particularly annoying when you select Magic and then unselect, as the seeker head tone will still be played whenever there is a heat source in front of you. It took me a frustrating and noisy 5 minutes to find out I had to click MAG on the PCA bottom row to make it go away.

  4. Today, while flying mission 10 of the campaign, I tried to enter the waypoint altitudes manually during startup. One of the waypoints required 26000 feet, but if I tried to input that number into the PCN it didn't take. I tried with 25000 and it went throught alright. I then went back to try some other values, even 25001 is rejected, as is the equivalent altitude in meters. So it seems 25000 feet is a hard maximum for PCN altitude inputs. Is this correct?

  5. I can help with a couple of these

1- The pilot body is currently beign reworked, it will come back sometime soon (hopefully)

3- I'll try to explain as best as I can:

    - The countermeasures controls are on the right side panel, below the IFF controls (from the front to the back you'll find INS, then IFF, then the countermeasures).

    - The CM panel has two sections. On the left side you have a knob and three switches that control ECM, RWR and D2D. On the right side of the panel you'll see a three position switch labeled LL and a big knob with 11 positions.

    - You'll want to set the LL switch to S.A. "LL" stands for "Lance Leurres", which means "Decoy Dispenser". "S.A." means "Semi Automatic", meaning pilot command is required to launch decoys. Automatic mode is not implemented, IIRC there is no public info on how it works.

    - You have to select a decoy program using the big knob. Position "A" stands for "arrêt", meaning "off". You can see what each program is on your kneeboard, in general they are different amounts of chaff/flares launched. You should set it depending on expected threats.

    - To activate the decoy dispenser and execute the selected program, you use a button on your HOTAS. The name of the control mapping is "Decoy Program Release".

    - You also have a panic button in you HOTAS that releases a special program consiting on a bunch of chaff and flares in case of emergency.

Be aware that the Mirage is rather limited in flares count, so use sparingly. There is a box sitting on top of your dashboard to the right, with indicator lights that let you know if you are launching decoys and if you are running out of a particular type. There is no way to see exactly how many are left.

  6. Hi all,

Today I decided I would finally start learning the Mirage, so I fired up the first training mission (cold start). When I got to the radios part, it says I should set the V/UHF radio to Pal, but this seems to have changed with the new radio from the cockpit update. Since I can't do that action, the tutorial never moves along.

I can obviously make up for it with YouTube video tutorials or something, but it's a pretty crappy experience for newcomers. It also makes me afraid that I will be running into similar bugs further on, or even during the campaign :(
